Warm-up exercises are an inevitable part of a dancer's journey, be it beginners or performers.
This episode of Tapasya focuses on analysing the students' improvement in the last one and a half years in terms of body balance, stamina and flexibility through their performance of the regular warm-up exercises. A brief note on the mutual growth of students and the teacher is also discussed.
Tapasya - the training sessions, is a series of videos that will be published on a monthly basis (as episodes) on the last day of every month.
The students featuring in Tapasya series have about 6-8 classes every month. Each episode of Tapasya is a cumulative overview of what is taught to them during the course of the month.
Along with the training sessions of the children, Tapasya also holds inputs on teaching techniques from Smt. Sheela Unnikrishnan and useful tips from the regular performers of Sridevi Nrithyalaya.

Sridevi Nrithyalaya Trust (SDNT) owns all the productions and will not allow anyone to download or use SDN videos/audios, even if it is meant for non-commercial purposes.
With able legal guidance, our team works meticulously in curbing audios/videos of Sridevi Nrithyalaya that have been used in unauthorized ways and uploaded on social media. Though we do not put up copyright declarations in all our videos, we strictly adhere to legal formalities and procedures regarding copyrights.
We work hard and spend a good time and amount of our resources to produce our music and dance videos. They are produced and uploaded on our social platforms solely to take our art to all those rasikas around the globe who are unable to reach us in person to enjoy SDN's art live.
It is not about 'misuse' or 'trying to support' our dance and audio productions by just giving credits. Art is for all, for sure. Our productions uploaded on social media platforms are for the art lovers worldwide to WATCH and ENJOY but definitely not for copying or reproducing without SDNT's authorisation.
SDNT has unanimously arrived at this decision and therefore, SDN or any individual from SDN would not be able to grant anyone permission to reproduce any of our works.
All the productions of Sridevi Nrithyalaya are intellectual properties (Aural & Visual) of SRIDEVI NRITHYALAYA TRUST solely. Any person or channel infringing our copyright policies (which are mentioned in the description box in our RUclips videos) will be given a 'copyright strike' which we might not be able to redeem at any cost.
My childhood yearning to learn dance is getting fulfilled by just watching tapasya episodes. All the kids learning with Sheela mam and all senior dancers of SDN are blessed ones. My adoration to Sheela mam for the impetus being given for sincere and dedicated efforts in learning the basics and in making children understanding the core of the art. Tapasya is not only about learning dance as an art, it is a complete learning that a Guru inculcates to bring discipline, strength, confidence, grace and surrender. Sure, students of SDN would not only gracefully dance, they also learn to live life gracefully.

As a keralite it seems to me that Melattur style of dancing will definitely benefit, if they can incorporate little bit of northern style kalaripayattu training in their curriculum. All the traditional dance performers of kerala including kathakali or koodiyattam or theyyam used to get their body conditioned using Kalari. In many of your dance choreographies i saw movements which are used in kalari. I dont know whether this was intentional or just via tradition!
