I got one for my MK6 GTI! This helps a lot! Thanks bro!
No worries man I’m glad that this video helped you out a lot
I just ordered the same clutch for my '15 GTI! Very excited to get the clutch in and then tune shortly after! Great channel by the way
EYYYY you will have no regrets!!!!!!
I Have put about 1800 miles on the clutch at this point! I am very pleased with it! Grabs so hard!
@@andrewcarlson5873 do you still have this clutch? would you recommend it? looking to buy a kit for my big turbo gti
How is it holding up 3 years later?
@@rambow70 I’m curious about this too
Great sound quality Jay
I ordered a DKM stage 1 MA Clutch and flywheel for my MKVI. Thanks for your feedback!
Good luck!
@@JR14Channel Do you still have the DKM Twin Disc clutch and how was it after the first year?
Definitely agree! this clutch does not like to be slipped at all so first gear stop n go traffic she can be annoying but overall that’s the only negative. Just put this in my R ~800 miles kinda makes some great noises when gear in high rpm off throttle. Def grabs and gets put down and no feel of getting loss or hesitation! Thx
Ppl are having issues with these DKM twin plate clutches d/t crank walk, too much strength at the pressure plate. let me know if you know anything cuz I just installed mine in my R, I’ll keep ya posted. Let me know if you have had any issues and how many miles you have on yours
Hunter Lane crazy you posted this right around time his engine exploded, probably from this exact issue.
I thought he got the single disc plate
My next big purchase before more power is added. 👍🏿 I'll be contacting Lexi and the crew to get it done, hopefully in February or March. Great video my dude ✌🏿
Aweeee! My dude enjoy it and rip it bro. I'll meet you at Floyd someday...
Absolutely man we definitely need to meet up soon! I need to review that corrado!!!!
Hows the Clutch Chatter compared to the South Bend Stage 2 Endurance ? Thats what im most curious in ? I have the South Bend and am pushing it at its limits. And it being my daily Chatter is a big deciding factor. Keep up with the awesome Vids!!
Zachary Bloomquist south bend are the chatter masters. But this clutch being a stage 3 smf, id expect chatter. Maybe not as bad. Especially being made in germany.
@@thrashingjustin Chatter Master is an accurate name lol. I went in and raised my idle to 875rpm to keep the chatter noise to a minimum, plus makes the car slightly louder at idle now. Ive heard that replacing the Harmonic balancer can also help. But like I said im pushing the limits with the Stage 2 Endurance making 438 lb ft at the wheels on stock turbo and ethanol blend and getting geared up for big turbo and full E85 so will need a new clutch soon...
Zachary Bloomquist Zachary Bloomquist i would take this clutch then. Its cheap for what it comes with and how much it can hold. Im going stage 2 dkm because i dont plan putting 400+ to the wheels or launching lol. And the harmonic balancer should quiet down the flywheel though. Idk by how much but it has more benefits then just flywheel chatter, so itd be a good investment since the clutch wil lbe out. Id replace the rear main seal with an aftermarket one too.
Getting this clutch when I need it
great video, you helped me choose the clutch I wanted to go for, I do have a question. I just installed the clutch, and I feel like the clutch pedal is engaging lower that the previous clutch I had (ECS tuning stage 2 clutch), not sure if this will get better of if I should look into this more, or even if the install wasn't all that great. would you happen to have any suggestions?
Just put a helix clutch in my R that can take stage 3 and it's so quiet and only feels a little harder. Really easy to drive no on or off feel perfect 👌
Hey man amazing video! What clutch would you recommend me to get for stage 2 I have a 2016 Golf r
Great video! What other hardware do you recommend buying along with this clutch for a smooth installation?
I would definitely say make sure that you get a rear main seal which sits between the transmission and the motor.
Looking at getting this clutch kit off of ECS or doing an upgraded DMFW one. Didn't this clutch make your engine crank walk? Or what that due to other factors?
Potentially looking at this clutch for my mk7 and idk of you still have this car or not but I would like to know how much power and torque your pushing I'm look to go fbo with stage 2 and the Is38 turbo upgrade or should I downgrade to a decent stage 2 clutch bc currently my stock clutch is slipping at 60,000 miles
Killing it
Thank you guys!!! I always appreciate you guys at The Custom Shop!!!!
Random question...haven’t seen the new video yet so I’m not sure what you’ve moved onto, but regarding the DKM twin disc, did you notice taking off in first gear, any shuddering??? Almost as if you’re going to stall out? My mechanic says this is normal for the clutch and should get better over time as it’s broken in, but I’m a bit skeptical.
Normal! definitely different from a normal clutch.
What’s the FT-LBS? Thank you wanted to get it for my mk6 wanna make it stage 2 and clutch is the only thing I’m missing
On that specific clutch it was capable of holding 660ft-lbs
What do mean it doesn’t like to be slipped? It judders a lot?
Meaning when you are launching the car you just wouldn't dump the clutch you would come over the clutch slowly while launching with is slipping the clutch
i bought this clutch i would really appreciate some feedback. i have 250 miles on it and its getting super aggressive to take off properly. any tricks to make it more smooth i feel like im damaging the clutch. thanks
I loved this clutch when I had the first one! The first one lasted about 40k miles but when I had it replaced, I had two other replacement clutches afterwards and I had nothing but issues. I actually run a Black Forest Industries Stage 4 6 puck clutch and it has been great!
What clutch did you have before? I drove a South bend stage 2 endurance and hated it. Hoping this has better engagement feel
oops i watched the whole thing and answered my question. Stage 2 endurance was terrible clutch. Too heavy.
I dont think your previous clutch failed because of power. I doubt youre doing 420+ torque. You just abused it
thrashingjustin that’s for dsg only buddy!!! 6 speed don’t hold 420!!!
M kl he had a south bend clutch. And i already know cus i have a 6 speed mk7 lol
M kl mines at 57k on stock clutch right now so i cant relate yet. Just know i will need a new one eventually
@@thrashingjustin good luck, I needed a clutch at 27K on my mk7. First clutch I've had to replace, I've had over 120K on clutches in the past so I was very surprised. The car was stock
Bay M lost my car😩 cracked the oil pan on the freeway and seized the motor... got a mk6 gti and a mk3 gti vr6 now 👍🏻
what clutch should I buy ? I got a gti mk7 2016
Sachs performance sintered clutch or DKM MS Clutch Kit ???
Exactly how does it let you know that it does not like to be slipped?
Why didn’t you go with a single set up?
Did u change the shifter or shifter bushings
Purchased this clutch based on your review but stumbled upon people having issues so I went with south bend.
The earlier revisions did have issues but the product is much better now. I drive aggressively everyday with my MK7 and I have no issues
Does the kit come with a metal throw out bearing?
Yes most aftermarket clutches for the MK7 platform will come with a pressure plate, single mass flywheel, clutch disk, alignment tool and throwout bearing
@@JR14Channel oh alright, wasn’t sure if they use the metal or polymer TOB
My DKM stage 2 just failed bro. So pissed.
Definitely jump off that ship man and I definitely switched to Black Forest Industries. Much better products as well as the customer service being top notch! Check out this video. I learned the hard way and I should have switched to BFI sooner.

Glad to see this
Hempstead lake state park pulls?
Good Eye lol!
great video, I don't have the same car but was looking into this clutch myself, nice to have a good review in our neck of the woods, especially with rush hour to deal with. Great video.
How’s the clutch holding up since this video?
Great I haven't had much issues I put another one in the car after doing an engine rebuild series on Project MK7
JR14 isit’s your second dkm twin disc?
Do you have problems getting stuck in reverse from time to time
Did you cut down the stalk on your shifter?
Absolutely not the new kit naturally makes the shifter shorter. I would not recommend cutting the stalk on the shifter
Can we please here another exhaust clip like fly bys and launches out side shots
Just the clutch ? Why not dkm diff to or do u not plan on making big power?
Meant the wavetrac diff
Performance Package GTI’s cannot use the Wavetrac Differential
JR14 you right I for got u had the pp my bad I got a 7.5 and don’t got pp and be for I do the boss 500 doing transmission first for sure!!!
Any problem with crank walk?
Well you will have to watch my whole engine rebuild series regarding this. As a result, I no longer run a DKM clutch product in my car.
@@JR14Channel good to know. Thank you. I wish there was some sort of thrust bearing upgrade to take care of the crank walk issue.
Still doin car reviews?
You already know!!!!
What about clutch chatter?
Pretty much non existent. There was some during the break in period but, it all goes away
@@JR14Channel thats great. Good review. Keep up the good work.
I was cringing thru the whole video because of those bad roads...now i see what u mean when u talked about N.Y potholes in others vids lol
i love the car man
What power can I run before needing a new clutch and the car is on 76k
michael 25 prob a jb4 map 1 but that’s it
i ran stratified 'stage 1' protune for a year and now been stg2 for 1.5 years and the clutch has only slipped a couple times in really cold weather
I’ve had this clutch for about 20K miles and it chatters bad
clutch chatter???
Surprisingly there wasn't much chatter but the overall reliability of this clutch kit is poor.
White Jason Allen Brian Taylor Sarah
So, after all the DKM shit going on on the forums, and your engine crank walking, there really is a correlation between crank walk and DKM
cs_cabrone what exactly is going on with dkm clutches?
i want to know the same. is DKM really the biggest culprit or just the most popular option?
you think this clutch would work great on a stock gti ?
Josephlaa For what reason do you need a clutch that holds 660 ft lb for a stock car?
Did you do it ? CauS that’s what I’m bout to do
First
Man every video you gain 5 pounds soon you wouldn’t be able to fit in your car !!
