Enzo Maresca's first game ended with us sharing the points. However, there were many positives to take away as well as lessons to be learned for the next match.
Here is my reaction to last nights 2-2 draw with Wrexham!

They forgetting the fact that palmer, Caicedo, Enzo, Jackson, and Mudryk didn't even play today. Plus the first team we used didn't even concede a goal but the second half team conceded 2 because it was full of young lads with little experience.
During this time against Wrexham last season, we don't have Palmer, Caicedo, Enzo, and Mudryk in the game but still smash Wrexham 5-nil, mate... the build up play was terrible today, only passing sideway

@@renaissance8006 Last season everyone was training with poch from the day the season before ended but we've only had Maresca for like 2 weeks and half the players were on holiday or internationals so of course it's no going to be as good
I ain't losing sleep watching pre season games that late but after just watching the full reply, Marc Guiu simply CAN'T go on loan. that boy George is something different. Need to see more from him and He had a much better game than one trick Madueke. Sterling was also decent. Tosin showed needed experience. On the negatives, Badiashile and Broja should be sold

It's the first preseason match with only 2 weeks with new coach, new system and many regulars missing...too early to judge. We will get better with more time to settle and familiarity with the system. Liked Guiu and Lavia

Caicedo is very creative and showed it last season.
nothing to freak out about, very early days they just got off a plane, plenty of big names missing, most everyone looked rusty. overall very impressed with our pressing structure in the first half and our ability to retain shape for most of the match. love what i’m seeing so far 🙏🏻
Give that brother ugochukwu a break he’s been the kid no one’s talked abt for two years but has consistently claimed his place in that squad over these “generational talents” like santos and casadei

@@IForgotMyUsername5000 Gusto is too good not to play, so he should take over the left-back spot from Cucu. Unfortunately whenever cucu plays, teams exploit us by targeting him and isolating him, but Gusto is more equipped to deal with that stuff and Veiga would be the same. I think we should cash out on Cucu after the euros hype, he provides basically zero attacking threat and doesn't progress or pass the ball forwards.
Maresca will get found out if he remains insistent on this tactics of inverted fullback. Even guardiola tweaks his tactics. In the PL you have to be more dynamic because most times, its about focusing on the opponents than your squad. That's why the PL is hard, its because they challenge you tactically, physically and mentally. Poch had to tweak his tactics by moving cucurella to the inverted fullback role last season. My worry is that this coach will remain insistent on this way of play and it'll backfire because to win matches in PL tactically, you have to be dynamic and able to adapt to the opponent's strategy at every minute during the match.
Bro he hasn't even gotten chance to implement his playstyle yet, and you're already talking about change his tactics? Man hasn't even had a first match in the season yet. Relax man, fuck.

I was at the game last night and for me a standout that’s definitely passed the eye test was Madueke. He looked dangerous and created a lot. Excited to see what he does in the new system.

I´ve to be honest, I was dancing with the fairies in the first half. But watched the second half and I´m a fan of Angelo. I like his style, but I think a loan is better for his development. From the highlights I watched of Marc Guiu during the day, I like what I see. He is active, has good hold-up play and is good on the ball in general. Something to be expected when you come from BARCELONA.
Unfortunately, we can´t say the same about Armando Broja. You are absolutely right. It's painful but he needs to find a new club. He needs to build himself and Chelsea ain't the right place for that.

Great points Joey! The only argument I'd have to make is on Sterling. He did not look good in the slightest in that game. He never trekked back on defense which always left Chilly having to cover multiple people at the same time which led to Wrexam having full domination of our left side. When sterling had the ball, he held it too long, or did his usual weak flopping when any one slightly touched him. I think it is time to dump sterling, save on some wages for the club, and leave more space for other left side wingers to play like Mudryk, Nkunku, & maybe even George. Love the content brother, keep up the great work!

However, Madueke is an issue, he has no right foot and will always try to cut inside, too predictable.The one time he went outside and crossed with his right...I think they are still looking the ball

30 min for a shot. This is definetely not our line up. Our has to be with 4, we have no quality to defend with 3. Gusto, Reece and Cucurrella as laterals are key players for us.

That wasn’t a 4-3-3 with “inverted full back” if you watch City or Liverpool when they do it…. The full back STILL STAYS IN THE FULL BACK POSTION but drifts every now and then into the middle of midfield!!

All im gonna say is there best be some improvements and sharpish. Enzo needs to tweak his system. He needs to invert from the left. We miss out on too much attacking threat by not having Reece and Gusto overlapping. Guiu actually looked like hes got abit about him. Id like to see more of the same with him. Ugochuckwu needs a prem loan. An if he want to die on that hill then so be it. But Sanchez will be his downfall.

As positive as Marc Guiu’s work ethic is, it really looked like he was playing with two left feet. Hopefully he doesn’t get discouraged and keeps up the work.

I'm not really worried about the result. I'm worried that Maresca is deciding on the system based on his own visual preferences with zero fucks given to whether it makes our players any better, meaning instaed of designing a system that enhances the best qualities of our best players, we're going to play in a system Maresca just happens to like and our best players will get shoehorned in or simply be discarded.
