I just wanted to say your videos are very helpful sir me and my family have one of the biggest limousin cattle farm on the east coast we have 2 farms one is 200 acres in Florida with about 80 head there on a special feed mix that we have made at a plant and grass and hay and in Georgia we have 700 acres with 300 head same thing grass special mix of feed and hay but at peanut hay prices last yea we bout a 400 acre hay Feild And we already have 7 tractors so we bought. A John Deere balor and everything else but anyway I just wanted to say your videos are rly helpful
I agree... we dont make mulch here.. but hay for beef cattle. If my summer was just planting canola and wheat and barley... I would have a lot of free time on my hands during the summer. Mowing, raking baleing hauling stacking... takes all your time.
How much acreage did you have when you started out in the mulch business? I agree with the amount of work it takes to be in hay business, whether you're making mulch hay or good hay for dairy cows, which is what I do. Keep up the good work, I'm definitely jealous of your hay making setup!
I've been looking at it since watching your videos and I work really hard as it is I'm motivated and hard working so I'm gonna go for it I gotta go to new jersey and see your operation it looks awesome family operation is what we do my brother my dad my uncle and cousins it's an adventure every day
Wes I have to say that I'm impressed with your knowledge of farming. Obviously farming of any kind isn't for the uneducated and I'd like to ask you what your education has been? Did you just grow up with all this or have you been to a AG college? Pete
How many acres do you have just at your farm alone.also how do you acquire the other land do other farmers lease you the land and you operate on it that's a part I'd like to know my farm is 50 acres alone obviously need a lot more then that so what's the best way to go about it
when i started i was a beggar i went to all the people i knew where bush hogging and asked if i could take the hay.the first year i made 800 or so bales.. now i am making over 10,000 a year.
I have a chance to make some hay for heating buildings. They are paying $70 a ton at 0% dry matter. I would be round baling it and storing it under cover and delivering it during winter. Just wondering if there is enough in it to make money at after costs. I'm thinking of doing about 200 tons this year. Any thoughts? Thanks
At only 200 tons I wouldn't do it, that's only $14,000. Unless this is just a winter gig and you already have the equipment to do it then give it a try. But if your wanting to make this your only gig then you are making less money than a person on welfare a year. 700-800 tons is where you want to be at minimum to survive the year with costs.
Hey Wes I'm really interested in your deer repellent I would like to purchase some we farm in Michigan and we also have bad deer problems in our soy beans please PM me thank you have a nice day
That was one of your best videos.Interesting. Sounds like the mulch business is a lot more complicated than I would have guessed.
Love the speeded up version. Sounds like a dentists drill !!!
Holy crap, that Deere sounds like an F1 car :)
Wes likes his high-speed JDs
