    A fridge was one of the last pieces of overlanding gear I needed to get before starting out on my own adventures and I was about to spend the $1300 on the ICECO VL90, then I saw this video and I'm sold on this new fridge. Your gear reviews and recommendations have been a huge help to me thanks for doing them.

    Thank you for this! Nice review. Answered all my questions. Contained a lot of useful information. And a discount code to boot. What is not to like. I need a dual for my field work and almost pulled the trigger on the Iceco VL75 dual, but it was so large! This fits much better in the back of my X and better meats my fridge/freeze needs. Reasonable size beats 2 lids in my opinion. Other gear needs stowing also.

    Looks great thanks for the review. Will put this at the top of the list when I finally decide to buy a fridge. Was thinking the black would absorb heat from the sun if not in a covered bed/or in a cover itself. Think that might make the fridge work harder to stay cool.

    Thanks as always for posting these videos which help all in our community. Wish industry would make more units that meet the height requirements to fit under our locking tonneau covers on the Gladiator. I know people travel differently, but I often stay in hotels and other places on trips where the bed is exposed to the elements or theft. If the fridge is too tall, I can't engage the tonneau cover. Lower the height below 17" and extend the length.

  • @IvanHz-21

    I would like to see you test it next to an Engel MT 45 combi, they both have the same function of being a single zone to a dual zone.

    • @DutchK75
      @DutchK75 Год назад +1

      The Engel will outlast it. I have two MT45's. And I have a BEAST of a Snomaster 85L Expedition Series. I have it in my Peterbilt.
      I like Engels as a single cavity. Those combi's are a little eratic temperature wise on the fridge side. Cause it's just a bleed over design.
      Engels are expensive but they last forever. And are completely serviceable units. None of the cooling lines are impregnated into the insulation. So it is not a throwaway design.
      I love my Snomaster Expedition 85L. As far as true dual zones go I think they are the best. It's a power hungry ole girl. It'll pull 88w at times. But it cools way faster than any other 12v fridge I've ever seen. It'll run 58-63 hours on my Bluetti EB200 with the freezer set at 0 degree and the fridge set at 35 degrees.

    Man, somehow they made it look cheaper than the older models (which may not reflect on camera, could be better in person). The only thing I don’t like, it the rear opening lid. They hit the park w/ the lid that side opens and can flip sides depending on how your rig is situated

  • @damianvega2028
    @damianvega2028 Год назад

    I’m trying to decide between that and this new iceco.

  • @ctlittle82
    @ctlittle82 Год назад

    They need to send that to me for testing. I live in Southern AZ, and I went through 3 of the iceco vl75prod, probably too hot here for dual zones. After the 3rd, they sent out an old-school 50 & 30 instead. The 50 stays in my rig full time

    • @DutchK75
      @DutchK75 Год назад

      Try to find a Snomaster Expedition series. Designed to be ran in ultra harsh environments. It's not as efficient as these others. My 85L will pull at times 88w. It's a BEAST.
      When it finally arrived and I picked it up I tested it in July at my aunts in Fresno Ca. For three days it was 111-115 degrees outside on her patio. It cycled like a normal fridge. Except it would pull 88w if it needed to. Typically seemed like 67-71w were normal. I set the fridge to 35 and the freezer to -8 degrees. And it froze the water jugs fast. I leave it set at 0 degrees now on the freezer side. It has lived a easy life in my Peterbilt now for a year and a half.

    Hmmm...Looks a lot like the ARB zero.
    Engel uses a completely diffrent style compressor. Just a electromagnet that bounces between two springs to push coolant. Snomaster and National Luna have their own compressor.
    Comparing a Iceco to a Engel, Snomaster or National Luna is assenine. Engels and National Luna have a pedigree of lasting years in Africa and Australia. There are Engels that are 40+ years old still running.

    I recently purchased the VL60 ProS, and like almost everything about it. My only gripe is how you open it by ‘pushing’ the handle down, instead of‘ pulling’ the handle up. It’s a bit counterintuitive to me, but I’m sure I’ll get used to it eventually. Otherwise, great fridge; it sits on the Goose Gear rear seat delete kit, as does my Anker 757 power supply, and I still have lots of room for more stuff! We have too much stuff…

  • @jkdace
    @jkdace Год назад

    Interested in this. I currently own a Dometic CFX3 55im, about 3 years old, that has started giving me problems the the manufacturer hasn't been able to help with. I have a 2016 JKU and run the fridge on a Jackery 1000. I works great in a controlled environment, i.e. house or running vehicle. But last summer, I noticed when I would turn off and leave the vehicle, within an hour, the temperature inside the fridge would rise from 36 deg F to 45 - 50 deg F. Over Spring Break, it got as high as 70 deg F. My wife has dietary restrictions and I purchased this to keep her food cold, but of couse, as soon as the temperature is above 50 deg, she throws everything out, making this fridge useless to me. I guess I'm asking if this is a normal scenario that is to be expected with these refrigerators or should I expect these to stay at 36 deg F ( or at least below 40 deg F). Kind of upset with the Dometic...loved it at first, but at the price to only get 3 years out of it is disappointing. But, then again, am I expecting to much from these types of refridgerators. What are the highest temperatures you've seen on yours, both running vehicle and non running vehicle enclosed?
