- Hong Kong Egg Tarts (Daan Tat) 蛋撻 is my go-to dessert at dim sum. These tarts have a buttery flaky crust filled with a silky smooth egg custard. When I was a kid, I've used to only eat the egg custard when little did I know… the pastry is the best part! AND the hardest part to make. In this video, I will be showing you how to make these delicious tarts at home. Enjoy!
P.S. Don’t forget to stick around until the end for the fun fact :)

This is a delicious recipe; I had been looking for it and finally found it on your channel 🤩🤩🤗💕💕💯💯
I'm glad you found it 😊
It’s ok thank you 😊
I just came across this. Will be trying. How many pieces did this recipe make?
Amazing! Hope you enjoy them. This recipe makes 9 egg tarts.
@@SikfanKitchenthank you! Can I use regular milk instead of evaporated milk for this?
@@agneslee7806 absolutely! Evaporated milk is richer in flavor but if you don’t have any, regular milk is a great substitute.
Do you need to spray the tins before putting the dough? Or, is it buttery enough that it won’t need it?
I didn’t spray and it came out ok but it’s a good idea too for good measure.
Hi, can I make the egg tarts using store bought puff pastry? If yes, do I need to coat the tart moulds with butter and is the baking temperate the same?
Absolutely! The same temp should work. Just remember to put it in the frig to firm up whenever the dough starts to feel warm & soft. Buttering the moulds gives extra insurance to not stick so yes always good idea.👍Hope you have fun baking! ☺️
@@SikfanKitchen thank you for your reply!
Video is wonderful. The sounds are hard to listen to for some reason.
Thank you! And which part? Did you turn up your volume?
Thank you for sharing your recipe and video. My water dough unfortunately looked like your butter dough and my butter dough like the water dough 😁🙈
Oh my! Sometimes the temperature of the ingredients & even the kitchen can impact that. How did the outcome turn out?
@@SikfanKitchen ... I just added more flour to the water dough and they came very well. The taste ... sublime !! This recipe will be a keeper but I know I will need to add more flour to the water dough. They came out very crispy, which me and my husband liked. Thank you again ... for sharing your recipe
@@SikfanKitchen ... wish I could attached a picture ... 😊
@@Chennedd Happy to hear they turned out well! As long as it was tasty and you’ve enjoyed them :)
