Ohtaki is probably one of the most incredible Japanese artists of all time, from his work with Happy End in the early 70's to his incredible solo catalogue from his Niagara Records label to his work as a songwriter for other Japanese artists if you like Japanese music or city pop type stuff like that he is definitely not to be missed out on
This is brilliant. I was giggling every second of the video. This is my first video meme pertaining Japanese 80s music (City Pop). I hope to see more like this!
Tatsuro Yamashita once asked Ohtaki about "hommages" in his songs, because he recognised at least three in one track. Ohtaki simply answered "there is more than three". Ohtaki is well-known for his "borrowings" from various overseas musicians, especially american pop and rock-n-roll of 50-60's. This particular song is mix of Tornadoes' "Ridin' the Wind" and John Leyton's "Johnny Remember Me".
I wonder if the men dubbing this at the time knew how popular this scene would become, or if the humor translated that well across the language barrier.
This the funniest thing I've ever seen while searching about Eiichi Ohtaki.
ok, fine, I youtube searched eiichi ohtaki. What of it?

"I popped the City" is such a good line
Despite what this video says, "Each Time" was actually a successful album. It topped the Oricon chart for three weeks.
Eiichi is good ,people just can’t handle his amigo swag.
I'm so desperate for context right now

lol same
I noticed a few songs sounded familiar when I listening to the album today and this confirms I’m not crazy thanks for uploading
Tatsuro: Nice album bro, but as someone who's done Beach Boys covers before, this sounds familiar for some reason...
Eiichi: (Nervous sweating)
“mmm! new album 😋”
This sums up Ohtaki's notorious act for "referencing" 50/60s music XD
Absolute Masterpiece. (RIP EIICHI OHTAKI)
This is the kind of deep cut I can get behind
40 years later, and Tatsuro won the city pop wars. And Ohtaki is dead (rip btw).

I feel like this video is meant to be a brief respite for those researching old japanese music
