Hahaha, a 185 sounding more like a Pacer? I have to agree that something was not quite right there! My Sister and Brother In Law lived in a Village called Brandon just outside Durham for a few years and I can say that though the station is nice it's not special but there are some quite spectacular views of and from the ECML as it goes through the City. It might not have Seven Hills of Rome but it has some of the best vistas in this country. One of which is the Cathedral illuminated at night! Thanks for jogging some very pleasant memory's KTV much appreciated. I do hope it didn't get so cold you developed hypothermia? After all they do say it's Grimm up North Lol.
The 185s sounded oddly unhealthy here for sure! I agree on the station front, it is beautiful and although doesn't look like much, it really is a nice little place. Glad this video helped jog some memories for you!
Great Video. My first visit there many years ago was in the month of April and I was greeted off a class 91 by a full on Blizzard 😦☃🌨 The diesel engines growl a bit there from a standing start heading towards Tursdale and Darlington as there is quite a steep climb out over that viaduct southbound...1/120 gradient I think?
Thank you Eld!! They do make one hell of a noise leaving this station which makes it all the more enjoyable to listen to. There is a large climb out towards Darlington but unsure specifically of the exact gradients there.
