I bought this album when it came out back in the day and has the original Dinosaur. It's a classic! Hard to believe its 36 years old. 1980's underground music was the best of times and it was the seeds of change to come. I feel honored to been part of it. Cheers Y'all!
I'm with you brother. This and "yr living all over me" and "Bug". Those albums broke the mold. Plus Husker Du, and the Screaming Trees, and Thin White Rope, and my beloved Minutemen. Those were the days. So many great bands.
Late 40´s here, you are sooo right! 100% the seeds of what was to come! I´ve been into Shoegaze for the last 30 but Sonic Youth, Dinosaur JR, HUsker Du and JAMC were the way I ended uo gazing at my shoes! They are the real fathers of what would become "The Beautiful Noise" We gazers know where we come from! I mean it was earky 80s, post-punk and goth were "underground" lol Is there anything below underground! Back in the 90s my Thrash and Black Metal buddies could not believe their ears! haha Freaking out the freaks!
My favorite band of all time..everything they do to me is gold..RIP to Artie..the face in the sun Passed away from covid related health issues in 2020.
I just loved how Lou starts singing the song and then J jumps in. Nice contrast. Super, super underated band. Music that changed my life along with REM.
I remember early MTV 120min with Kevin Seal when they aired the Just Like Heaven video & that's was back in 1987/88 & I never heard of them at that time & It blew my mind. The next day I rushed out to my local music land record store & they still had this on vinyl & 8 bucks later it was mine. I still have it🤘🏿
One of the sickest albums ever. Thank you....hey even the lyrics are timeless on time....listen and learn sheep jumping off the bridge following your Facebook foolish friends...suicide is so weak.

There is a difference in their voices but I suppose repeated daily intake of the first Dino album before I knew what Lou's voice was like.
You can hear the REM, and even joy division(?) Influences. I like this. Usually first albums are the best. This one, they havent found their own sound yet.
This is the first time I’ve listened to this record and just realized that many of these songs I heard back in the 1980s and assumed were the Meat Puppets.
Yeah they liked R.E.M. Mike Mills liked to be upfront with his playing while Lou had to play in a way to be heard next to J's loud guitar so it makes sense

It's as fresh today as it was 3000 plays ago.

I still have the dinosaur cd too

Being a big fan of the Meat Puppets, how could i not be a fan of Dinosaur Jr.?
@Ciaran Moran213 lol ur bitter
I hear that too! Two awesome bands
Maybe you are a fan..
damn you described me so perfectly
I lived in phoenix in the 80’s . The Meat Puppets were assholes . I was into the CRASH scene and love Dinosaur Jr.

When I was in high school there was a year where I had to listen to this CD every night.
I've bump into with this album recently and I found it incridible. No word to discribe. The first song is so nostalgical!

Amazing record. There is absolutely nothing out there that sounds close to this.

Husker DU isn’t post punk. They’re hardcore.
The best album of this band... no more!
Everytime I hear a really good song from a band it is always on their first album. Strange how that works for me....
you really should listen to the second album -- loud.
@@JohnDoe-oj3wy and the first one after they reunited! the two best!
Try with albums at 10 years after band's creation. Often they are the great albums too. It works with almost all bands.

This is a good one, ive always been more of a afghan whigs guy but you cant go wrong with Dino. So many great bands from this time .
Can hear the influence early Cure had on Dinosaur Jr. Love it.
First time listen to this album and I thought exactly the same
Had this album 30 years. Always thought J was the main vocalist. Now I read it's mostly Lou Barlow. I honestly can't tell the difference.
You can tell right away on the first track it’s Barlow. J does sing on the album. Are you a Dinosaur, Mascis or Sebadoh fan?

Hüsker Dü
Sandro Kovalev absolutely, these guys are big fans of Husker Du. Husker Du and REM paved the way for the 90s alternative.
