Which ones do you mean? The Turbines (style 20) that came on the 3.6L, the updated Throwingstars (style 21) that came on the 3.8L or the M-Parallels (style 37), like this one has, that came on the last models in 1995. All are cool imo, Turbines are figuratively and literally the coolest, Throwingstars are probably the most iconic M5 wheels for e34 and M-parallels are imo the best looking.

Listening to this, and comparing it to the M2 Comp I had last year... the old straight sixes just sound so good. Even the basic two-litre straight six from this era was a total peach.

More then 20 years ago I had a co-drive in an E34 on the Ring, it was then the Ringtaxi... awesome experience, at the time the movie Ronin was also out so imagine our craziness then..... As a personal note, this E34 is the best 5 series ever made, the estates handled even better....

The BMW E34 M5 was the fastest production built sports sedan in the world in 1991 . That’s rather hard to believe these days! Owned one for 18 yrs, lost it in a storage building collapse in 2014 due to heavy snow. Finally decided to take another trip down the German sports car rabbit hole this year with an ‘18 Audi RS3. Not nearly as quiet and refined as the M5, but quite a bit more punch 🎉
god it's so beautiful to see a pre face lift e34 with style 37's on that dark color, the only thing I would do it change the indicators colors to amber
My e34 m5 is the same Jan '90 built sister car to this one. I wonder if the serials are close. I've owned it since 2008 and it's going strong at 225000 miles. The only problem is the A/C needs sorting every 8 years. Maybe I'll just move somewhere I don't need it as much as Houston Texas lol
Oh god yes!!!! EDIT having now finished it...fully agree with your sentiment at the end. Cars are ''better'' now in terms of speed, insane power, braking, safety and whatnot...but IMO just about all cars (even the latest Ferrari's), they miss the key ingredient: Emotion. And with the occasional highlight here and there (Speciale, 991 RS porsches), 90s until mid 2000s was the peak, in my opinion.
Hello Comrade... The Old School BMW Straight Six symphony is simply devine 👍 The E34 chassis is so pure and well balanced, capable of handling more power than the 3.6 /3.8 M5 engines had on offer. BTW... what's the latest news with regards to your E34 M5 ?
Wow !!! It handled quite well considering how old it is. It was doing near about 200km/h in the straights. I’d love one of those in my country, but parts would be a huge problem.
The owner did nothing wrong as the car is amazing but a tiny bit louder exhaust and possible intake with some basketweaves would make this car perfect.
Maybe it was 1995 or so. In my country, the second hand car market was blooming. So, i went to see a guy selling a BMW he imported from Belgium. He told me the engine is a 3.6L . He didn't know that he was trying to sell an E34 M5. I didn't know either, i realised that years after.. 😅
Polished/Chrome wheels have to go ASAP. Otherwise, e34, what else can you say. Beautiful design. Lightened flywheel and shaft would wake this thing up a lot. S38 wants to sing.

I don’t know why Mercedes and BMW quit producing a double overhead cam in-line six engines and went to V sixes in the 90s Mercedes and BMWs they never sounded better than with the in-line 6 bangers 👍🏻🤩😎
Bmw never stopped making dohc straight sixes, latest m3 is a dohc straight 6 although turbocharged. It's mercedez that has traditinally prefered the V6'es , but recently we are starting to see straight sixes in their lineup
I was hoping to hear a blowoff valve from a Turbo, even though it's a stock engine, I still have withdrawals from all those e34 Turbo videos I used to watch on youtube from that "One" guy 😂😂

I'm biased but I find e34 to be the best looking car from this era and among the best period. They're just special.

Lovely!! Gentlemen's sportscar. Handled great. Can never go wrong with a M car. The E39 is my favorite M5 still.
