I've been a Garmin user since 2011 and battery life, Garmin Connect, having a decade of data and the buttons are just a few of the things that are great about it. I'm in the Apple ecosystem for everything else but their watch just isn't that great if you're fitness-focused.

Garmin of course
I've been using Garmin daily for more than 15 years. I just got the Ultra 2. It is difficult in the beginning, I do lose just a big in workouts, but the gains are much more. Life doesn't start when you start your workout and doesn't stop when you click stop.
You can reply to texts from the Garmin Fenix (and Epix) just not with an Apple phone because apple is scared of the competitor so they block that ability.
nice video! whats your wrist circumference?
Garmin trumps the AWU in just being a watch. Garmin is best for people who want health data and a watch, I would hardly call it a smartwatch but that’s the point. I don’t need constant notifications on my wrist or the ability to ask questions to my watch, people have been so reliant on technology it’s insane. I’ve had Apple watches from series 3 to series 6 and it sucked. it’s so nice to have a watch that just works and doesn’t need to be charged all the time. When did we become so attached to our phones that we need basically a small phone on our wrist. Garmin all day
Think I’m the only one who doesn’t like all the notifications on my wrist. I keep all phone notifications turned off on my Apple Watch Series 8. Only notifications I like getting there are workout notifications. No calls, texts. Ect.
Same here it’s just too much. I don’t need to be prompted to use my phone
There's no reason to compare the two.
Two different target audiences despite what Apple says.
If you want less "bland" watchfaces go for the Epix Pro. Exacly the same but AMOLED dusplay like the Apple Watch. Should still be good for around a week of use with Always On display enabled
Nice video I’m currently marathon training starting to build up a good base aswell as in the gym (hybrid) training, I use a Apple Watch Ultra 1 and on the fence about going in to garmin fenix 7 x solar or the epic pro gen 2 I’m just un decided I been looking into it for months aswell 😂
Look into the HRM-Pro from garmin which provides a ton of additional useful data about your running style, and what you might want to change/fix/optimize.
@@ChrisHolzer thanks a lot I’ll definitely look into this much appreciated
Most smooth ad, ever.
Also how can you fairly judge sleep tracking if you have to charge it everyday? Unless you charge the watch midday everyday.
It takes less than 40 minutes to charge apple watch for next 24 hours. I do it before taking shower, the watch is ready to track my sleep and whole next day after when I return.
@@eco4tree It ends up being another thing you have to worry about and charge. I could not stand it after 3 months, straight to marketplace 😅
@@silv3rArrow yeah…actually I have just ordered instinct 2x :)
I have the Ultra 2 and the Epix Pro 2. I agree with you that the Garmin seems more geared towards extreme athletes which is the main reason why it’s overkill for a runner of my caliber. I’m just someone that’s trying to be health conscious and be active. With that being said. The Ultra 2 is more than enough for someone like me, an average runner that needs something to track my health journey with a great heart rate sensor and gps that’s on par with any Garmin. The Ultra will definitely last a marathon and then some even with music playing. It could even last a 100K race but not a 100 miler which is still beyond impressive for an Apple Watch. I run maybe 5-7 hours a week and after that. Just wearing it as a smartwatch, the Garmin is totally useless. But if you’re a serious athlete the Garmin is extreme bliss.
Best comparison I’ve read so far.
Do you wear both at the same time? 🤔
@@commonmadeholy only when I run. Basically I take the Ultra and use it for the LTE and music plus the Garmin and leave my phone at home. But to be honest, if I had to leave out with only one watch. It would definitely be the Ultra because of the LTE connection. But I couldn’t say the same about the Epix Pro. Even though it has music, if I were to fall or have a medical emergency. There would be no way to call for help. It has incident detection, but it only works with your phone connected. So the Ultra is a jack of all trades but the Garmin to me is just all about sports and not an every day wear watch. Even though Garmin insists on calling it a smartwatch.
👌🏻
Thanks that’s helpful to know 👍
I have both and I do miss the ease of the garmin
I’ve used both, I prefer Garmin for exercise and Ultra for everything else. The flashlight is nice on the Garmin. If you’re not a seriously competitive athlete the Ultra is probably good enough.
Wrong comparison should have compared one of the Amoled Garmins.
You forgot with your last three reasons for Garmin at the end off the video that its battery lasts for days and days so it should be 4 reasons.
I have turned all the "smart watch" features _(notifications)_ on my Garmin Fenix 6 off because I really do not need _(nor do I think that it is healthy)_ to carry my e-mails, messages and all that noise with me on my wrist.
If u need an iPhone on your wrist _(and also own an iPhone)_ then buy the Apple Watch
If you don't own an iPhone dont buy the Apple Watch _(no joy for Android users)_
If you need a proper outdoor/sports watch, buy a Garmin Fenix _(and maybe combine it with the HRM-Pro, which I love)_
Is battery life even comparable? Garmin leaves the apple l ultra 2 in the dust.
I am waiting for a watch with camera so I can leave the phone behind, camera for recording any evidence will do
Спасибо, отличный обзор . Всё правда 👏🤝
Smart watch is not a training watch. Yes Ultra does the job but where do you do your analysis? Health just gathers data so it’s useless. Or you buy 3rd party app, on top of already expensive watch. All that is included with Garmin.
For me it’s pretty easy. I’m an apple geek. But a watch needs to be round. I do like the aesthetic just more of the gar in an ditched the apple
Watch therefore
Garmin 👍
Excellent review video! Thank you for taking the time and sharing! I think my minds made up...Apple Ultra 2 it is.
Try the Samsung 5 pro....
I don’t truly understand why people are comparing the high hand Harmon as ugly as it is because the Apple Watch Ultra is just an Apple Watch series 9 with a bigger battery and things that people will use 2 times in their life like the diving things … why not comparing with the 965 … it does all the same
It’s not like Apple Watch people are adventurous at all, most of them are city based !
Garmin wins hands down
Garmin: battery life, round watch design, very thorough training metrics, offline world maps, flashlight (really useful!), physical buttons.
Apple: best software, ecosystem, best smartwatch, basic training metrics, cellular, best hr sensor and accurate sleep metrics, touchscreen.
Thanks for sharing!
1:38 “I do think garmin watch faces are pretty bland and uninspiring in comparison to the ultra”
🤔yh hardcore apple fan boy 😂I can never take them serious
You need a smartphone to make the Garmin a smart watch. Maps? Get calls without carrying your smart phone? Music? 😂 Multiple GPS links? Garmin is outdated junk.
This is such a dumb take
@@lachlanmurchie299 It’s fact, bro. It’s not a take; go look at a spec sheet.
Junk? Ridiculous statement.
Well, I wouldn’t say that, but for sure, you need a smartphone (an Iphone) to make the Apple Watch a smartwatch.
Fun fact: you can set up and use all features of the Garmin (including offline maps) without even owning a phone. Meanwhile you can't even set up an Apple Watch unless you own an iPhone.
