The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced the 15-member Indian squad for the ICC T20 World Cup 2021, scheduled to be played in UAE and Oman, with MS Dhoni set to mentor the team for the marquee tournament.
While Dhoni joining the team turned out to be a pleasant surprise for many, the list of absentees in India’s 15-member party also caught many by surprise. One of the most notable exclusions in the Indian squad is that of Shikhar Dhawan, who has been in some sensational white-ball form of late and currently stands as the top run-scorer in IPL 2021, with 380 runs at an impressive 54.28 from eight matches.
Dhawan finished the 2020 IPL as the second leading run-scorer (behind KL Rahul’s 670), with 618 at 44.14 including two centuries and four half-centuries, The southpaw recently led India during the away limited-overs tour of Sri Lanka, where the team recorded a 2-1 win in the ODIs, before losing the T20Is 1-2 after as many as eight members missed the last two 20-over games as they were put in isolation after being deemed as Covid-19 positive Krunal Pandya’s close contacts.
Selection committee chief Chetan Sharma could not name the exact reason behind Dhawan’s exclusion; however, he did admit that he is “in the loop”.
“Shikhar is a very important player for us. Can’t disclose the discussion. He is in the loop. We thought the need of the hour was to look at others and rest him,” he said during a virtual press meet on September 8.
Meanwhile, highlighting the primary reason behind Chahal’s exclusion, Sharma stated: “Spinners who bowl quick was our priority. Hence, we went with Rahul Chahar,” while he admitted that Varun Chakravarthy is “surprise package as a mystery bowler.”

Shikhar Dhawan was in sublime form in the previous 2 IPLs but still been expelled from the T20I team. Not fair. KL Rahul is good but Shikhar is better.

Bruh chahal might not bowl quick and also I get that u want faster spinners but having 5 spinners in the squad and chahal is not one of them is dump and also makes the spin attack kida 2 dimensional. I mean there is everyone bowling 90kmph and spinning into or away there is Noone like yuzi who can really work it with flight and spin more even if he is slower.
He is still smartest and the most experienced spinner and you have bumrah and bhuvi bowling at the death and powerplay ur runs flow will be restricted to some extent and even if he goes for let's say 9 an over but gives u 2-3 wickets that's well worth it

Experience matters
Selecting 15 players from a population of 1.3 billion is a herculean task in itself. Moreover, everytime India announces a team ( no matter which format) speculations and opinions pour in like anything. Yes, you will always have players who'll be left out - some whom you'd never expect. But still, these experiments have given us some of finest Indian cricketers whom we celebrate today.
Varun Chakravarty is better than chahal didn't you watch the T20 against sl varun's variations are non playable better than chahal I think so

It's a very wise decision to drop dhawan and chahal. Dhawan especially is not reliable in t20s.. he is good in ODIs.

Team is good it's ok shikhar strike rate is not so impressive in t2o while kl is in good foam hance for me team is decent enough but main factor is virat bad luck with captaincy in icc tournament will be continue in same foam.
KL is in good form? Did you see his performance in IPL? Batting with a strike rate of 120. Shikhar's strike rate was much better than Rahul
