    I bought my trike in 1996 for $6995 brand new and ready to fly. It's a Sabre 340 trike with a single surface wing. They don't make them anymore. Sabre went out of business years ago.

    Go to Northwing's website. They are a very popular U.S. made trike and hang glider manufacturer. You can also go to Barnstormers. They are a big seller of used aircraft. All kinds. You can probably buy a new simple trike for 12-14k. You will find that buying something like this, is like buying a car. There are the Cadillacs and the Ford Escorts. Prices will vary a lot.

  • @wrdturkey
    @wrdturkey  13 лет назад

    @Quick2000 Sure was. Pulling the control bar in will bring you down, but is mainly for controlling speed. Pulling the control bar in (lowering the wing's nose) speeds the wing up. Pushing the bar out (raising the wing's nose) will make you go up, but you are actually slowing the speed of the wing down. Engine power is the main factor for ascending and descending. Thanks for watching.

    Great video, what's the music? I fly in the UK in a similar type, Ace Magic Cyclone, but the two stroke's fuel thirst eventually pushed the Rotax 447 out and got a US-tuned B&S Vanguard into it instead. around 30-35hp and half the gas guzzle so twice the range. Cannot beat trike flying, especially the light simple ones like yours.
    Thanks

    I am finally set up for a video. waiting for some nice weather. yes I have a stratus wing. Love it. Got a topless on another 503 tukan I bought (son is flying atf now)but topless's are too heavy. A king post is just fine. I need a chute for the tukan and I am thinking hand deployed vs rocket. what do you think, I hate to think of deploying but is something we all must be prepared for. I love your Sabre, so clean. Happy flying. j.

    Hi Bevie. Buying a trike is like buying a car. A cheap new one will cost you about 11k. You can also get the Cadillac version for about 60k. Northwing has a great internet site with prices. Browse what ultralights they sell. BTW - You are very talented. I was checking out some of your vids. Great stuff. I also play guitar, or should I say I play with it. LOL!!!

  • @wrdturkey
    @wrdturkey  14 лет назад

    @wazzuspartan You can call them ultralights. This is a flexwing type. They also have three axis types. In Europe they call them microlights.

    A DAR at a fly-in once said, "If you HAVE to fly with a chute, you probably shouldn't be flying". I like the saying, but I always fly with a chute. Look directly behind my shoulders in the black bag. It's hand deployed and came with backup cables for the mast, motor mount and wing connection point. I love the ATF. Do you have a Stratus Wing? Send videos (or at least a photo slide show) please. Thanks for watching.

    @Quick2000 They don't make the Sabre anymore. There are plenty of other manufacturers. Google northwing trikes, ace aviation, magic trikes, air creation trikes, airborne trikes. That will get you started. I like Northwing's ATF trike. It's a simple design like the trike I have. Thanks for watching.

    @wrdturkey
    Thank you so much for you reply.
    If you started out hang gliding - do you still do it? If not why not? Would you consider Triking more or less dangerous and/or thrilling? Would it be advantagious to learn both?
    I saw a used Sabre tandem on ebay with bidding at about $1,100 right now. Would you ever consider buying used? Do you do your own engine rebuilds? How much time will you put on an engine before a rebuild?
    I consider opinion GOLD on these matters.

  • @wrdturkey

    The camera was attached under the wing at the wingtip. Thanks for watching my videos. You have a handsome cat.

  • @wrdturkey
    @wrdturkey  12 лет назад

    I'm confused. I'm guessing you want to foot launch and then land on wheels. You could use a set up they use for HG tandem flights. They have large wheels on the control bar that enables you to roll it in while landing.

  • @wrdturkey
    @wrdturkey  15 лет назад

    Safety is just like any other aircraft. Most accidents are pilot error. The wing is tested to 6+ and 4- G's. The motor is a 2 stroke (don't fly over anything you don't want to land on). Both the wing and trike are made of T-6 6061 aluminum, 7071 aluminum, AN hardware, and Dacron. i fly with a chute - just in case.

    really nice video, i do have a few questions for you? First, how much did this machine cost to build? Second, does it require a pilots license? Third, If the engine would cut out, could you glide safely to the ground? And fourth, any good websites for these ultralights to look at and learn more?

    Thank you for responding, my father was a pilot in his younger days flying small single prop aircraft. Some of my fondest memories are of sitting in the co-pilots seat while Dad let me fly the plane. It's just too expensive a hobby these days and an ultra-light seems like a perfect alternative. What's the weight limit on a craft like yours?

    Yep. Just 30 HP.at 6500 RPM. I bought this one new for about $800 USD. Most ultralights use a Rotax engine. They cost more and are getting harder to find in the U.S.

    Hello. I contacted you many years ago after watching this video. I still send it to all my family and friends. I still think it's the best.
    You told me back then that this model is no longer available. Can you tell me the make and model? Can I somehow get the specs on this model? What engine are you using and can you recommend another newer model that is equally simple and reliable?
    Thanks again.

    @chechita14 Wow!!! 8 hp? I don't know if that will do. The smallest I've seen is 16 hp. That is on my mini trike. I guess it depends on how light you build it and how much you weigh. Good luck on your project.

    Hey Gary,
    You will be GOD if u fly this in India, i like runway it needs. So that looks to be very good for India as getting a long stretch of good road is almost impossible.
    Here are few Questions :
    1. How safe are these flights what precaution i need to take !
    2. What is the engine (CC) and how much gallons per mile.
    Thanks,

    @Quick2000 I have a foot throttle and a hand throttle. I don't know what they charge for instruction, but it will take a minimum of 20 hours for your Sports Pilot license and a little less to fly an ultralight like mine. You can Google 'ultralight trike instruction' to find out more on schools. There are 2 ultralight pilots that I know who recently started flying. They were flying - one with 7 hours and one with 10 hours.
