  • In this video we teach you our training etiquettes. These 10 rules are all made to keep you in the jiu jitsu game as consistently and as long as possible. By following these rules you avoid injuries on yourself and on your training partners:
    1. Always respect the tap
    2. Nogi class: IBJJF rules apply. All leg locks allowed from blue belt and up.
    3. Gi class: IBJJF rules apply. Rules of the lowest belt count.
    4. No jumping attacks, including: jumping closed guard, jumping submissions and jumping takedowns.
    5. No slams
    6. Adjust your intensity to the level and size of your partner
    7. Two beginners together? Start on the ground!
    8. Be aware of your surroundings and make way for the higher belts
    9. Don't pull your partner back over their heels
    10. Wear a rashguard for hygiene purposes. Also under your gi!

    Appreciate the clarity.
I stopped training in NoGi because my experience was that there were always a few guys who seemed to be aiming to be MMA champs, and would get way too rough.
That's not to say guys in the Gis can't get rough...it just seemed like the NoGi stuff was rougher on a more regular basis.
Good rules to impart for new students I think. 👍

Thanks a lot JK! Sad to hear that about your NoGi experience. It can be great fun when you train in a safe way.
