  • Here is a retired Chesapeake Bay Waterman showing his expert technique to making a net for crabbing on the bay. It is an age old craft that is dwindling as is the commercial fishing on the bay.. This video can now be purchased at this link. tilghmanmuseum.org/index.php/t...

This video is great. I had been trying to figure out how to make a crab net on my own, and I actually came up one, although it was irregularly shaped and full of knots. I watched Mr. Roe and made a jig like his, and have really had an enjoyable time working on a net.

You said it takes two shuttles, how do you add the second shuttle on to continue and keep it looking as good as yours does. Your video is fantastic, easy to follow and made getting into making a net a snap. Thank you for taking the time to pass on your expertise !!

Great video. I've had no luck finding any information on the internet of a "lap jig" as the gentleman calls it. Does it have another name? If not, does anyone know the measurements between the first and second pin and then the measurement for each pin? I'm sure one could guess it's about 2" looking at the video but I would like to make one as accurate as possible.
    Thanks
