Interesting idea. Maybe if you used a 2 stoke engine, although I suppose you could do the same on a 4 stroke, and used either a belt drive or heavier chain running to a pulley or sprocket where the magneto would normally be on the outside of the engine case preferably using a straight shaft instead of a crankshaft through the cases to the primary drive, or on the (Hodaka) motors I'm thinking of to the cutch that is mounted directly to the right hand end of the crankshaft. You could make the electric motor pivot for belt or chains adjustment on top of the cover plate where the barrel would normally mount, or make some other type of adjuster run against the belt or chain. And with a 2 stroke either put oil in the lower case area under the cover plate / motor mount to lubricate the lefthand case bearing or simply remove the seals from the right hand case bearing. A drive belt would save having to lubricate a chain and would be cleaner to operate. If there would be any advantage in the flywheels on the standard crankshaft you might use it, but the crank pin may be a weak link and you could twist it out of alignment, so you could mount a flywheel on a straight shaft between the crank cases or add one later if need be.
Yamahas are always good for customisation because they make strong built bikes with well designed chasis. FZs can be easily customised because of its perfect handling and low center of gravity. Proud to be an Yamaha owner. When after 10 years petrol will be banned I will convert my FZ to electric and will use for another 10 years. Yamahas don't die. 😀
Probably no more vibration than when it was a piston engine given the fact that a single cylinder has a balance factor of around 50%. Nice idea. Put a proper machined shaft inplace of the crankshaft with a decent sprocket attached and it would be even better 👍
What is interesting about this mod is its simplicity. You will have a "new" electric bike in a heart bit. Think about restoring life and use for a motorcycle with a sized piston. I would take a apart the engine, remove and swap the Crankshaft with a straight rod, add the gear and a convenient flywheel to add momentum. Good luck folks.

This is a very good concept and approach to convert a gasoline engine to electric with minimal modifications. The only issue I am concerned about is the longevity and reliability of the system. The power transfer from motor to the crankshaft is done via the timing chain. Timing chain naturally isn't built for power transfer but to operate the valve timing, therefore not meant to be strong. The chain and the crank sprocket would wear out prematurely and would need dismantling of the parts to replace them in time. I would say that the chain and crank timing sprocket would need an upgrade to a stronger ones for the longevity of the system.

Armitage he means the other half of the rod. They don’t just come out? They’re on a pin that’s pressed into the crank webs. So the rest of the rod would be just flailing about unless he split the cases, presses the crank pin out and installs a new one with no thrust washers or bearing or rod which would be almost impossible to do while having it stay straight and not be pressed too far down
Wow what a brilliant idea man you are a genius now we can also use gears during riding that's great for bike lovers because in Normal ev bikes we don't get gearbox
Amigo, que ideia maravilhosa, isso deveria vir aqui para o Brasil, porque a gasolina está mais cara que tudo, parabéns pela sua coragem de mudar para elétrica.
Not bad for a start, especially having kept the gearbox! But you will absolutely need to lighten the bike, releasing unnecessary and heavy parts of the old engine, because of the big weight of your large battery (and you should not take a passenger); the most important is to think how to lubricate the timing chain (and other parts), which, in principle, is not designed to run the engine; but well lubricated, it could last a long time, because the speed of the bike is not high ...
Good luck with that fan not causing cuts on your leg. You could have disassembled the piston assembly all together rather than cutting the piston. The battery could have comfortably fit in the tank section.. many more issues.. overall brilliant concept 👍
Just what I thought, too much torque (normally transmitted through a piston and crankshaft) going through a number 25 timing chain. Good luck with that though.

And all the stuff inside de motor lol
@@iagoranieri and the dust from the grinder which cut the connecting rod off.
Well done I think you did a fantastic job ☺️👍
01:38 -- "Weird! That looks like a right-angle grinder. Wonder what he's gonna do with it..."
01:41 -- "I mean, he's certainly not going to just cut that con-rod with it, so maybe he's..."
01:44 -- "OH FOR THE LOVE OF GOD *NOOOOOOOOO!* "
Yes. The Conrod has to be removed
he teaches the easy way not the perfect way but this is perfect easy and that is enough
Modify bike into e bike such a great option when petrol is too costly 😭
Use 2000 watts hub motor in rear wheel.
Good Job Bro
Yeah, No, WHAT.?.?.? I’m Slightly Very Impressed. . .

super impressive
run off the chain with a variable resistor rather than the cam chain would have been a better idea but hey if it works than well done .
I think the idea is to take advantage of the existing clutch and gearbox for economical conversion. Still, I don't know what the range would be on that
But then he wouldn’t be able to shift them gearz
I cringe seeing the opening in the crankcase letting dirt in ,what a sloppy job.
Old Man on a Suzuki Dirtbike dude, look at the country he lives in, this guy is like the one of smartest one over there.
A variable resistor, you writing this in yr 1950?
