You know, I remember once watching a clip of Max verstappen kart racing I noticed that he does not enter the hole corner, but he rarely even touches it
With that much of a performance difference I think you needed to keep a little more distance to the kart in front on that first race. Being right on someones bumper is great if you are relying on them making a mistake and underutilized grip to a small degree to pass. But with a time difference (you were making time easily) you want to be further back so you can use your better corning. Think of it this way. You can go no faster than the person in front if you are on their ass, if their mistake doesn't under-steer them off the line your better entry and corner speed doesn't matter you have to slow down too or bump them. Instead if you are just a foot further back you can get on the power earlier, if you don't have enough to pass fine. if they exit and you don't have enough to get past fine, let off the accelerator a little and you should be fine. Take it as a relatively fast fat guy who is a regular at one track. Being the faster driver doesn't mean shit if you are on a slow drivers ass. you have no room to get to proper speed in the corners for overtakes. also great vid and really good commentary. Kept the tension all the way until the end. Thought your chain was gonna fly off on the last hundred meters or something. still trying to think of a better way of explaining it. to overtake on the entry you need to either break late or have a faster kart on the straight. The first is risky the second you don't need to worry about if you have it. to overtake in the mid corner you need to maintain higher corner speed. This is impossible if you are on their ass because you had to copy their bad brakes to not hit them. or worse you upset your cart because you hit them. to overtake on the exit you need to get a better exit or they make a particularity bad one. What they do isn't something you can control, but you can force this with pressure, but isn't guaranteed. also that outside line was way better. they were shortening the circle the 3 corners made by treating the corners individually, so you could carry far more speed by making it a big double apex corner. good shit
For karting in the Netherlands, whats the best way to start? it feels harder to get into karting here in NL than other european countries which sucks :/ Awesome driving aswell
