  • Early Morning Fire Destroys Home in Cumberland, Berbice
A two-storey wooden and concrete house in Cumberland, Berbice, occupied by Jamaludeen Mohamed, was destroyed by an early Monday morning fire. The 48-year-old Mohamed had lived in the house, which is owned by his overseas-based cousin, for the past four years.
Mohamed was not home when the fire started and was informed of the disaster at around 2:30 AM. Firefighters responded promptly but were unable to save the building or its contents. The fire also destroyed two agricultural machines valued at millions of dollars.
Authorities are currently investigating the incident, with initial reports suggesting that the fire may have been the result of arson. Mohamed had reportedly received a threat from a known individual that the house would be torched.
As the investigation continues, Mohamed is staying at his sister’s home in Cumberland. Join this channel to get access to perks:
