      I had a 1st gen and brought it up to a little more than 325HP to the wheels. It had so much torque steer it was scary as hell. It handled like a dream though and would beat anything in it's class. It would be nice to see a speed3 with at least 300hp, AWD and have the comfort of their newer interior design. I've waited for a new speed3 since the 2nd gen was introduced and sadly it hasn't happened.

      @@brenttitus2134 Initially it sold faster than it could be manufactured but really by the time the 2nd gen came out the market had shifted and the design was already antiquated enough even with the changes the 2nd gen brought forward. The prime reason another speed isn't being produced now is that Mazda says it's both cost and risk associated. Like you said.....it's a niche product. It's not a sure fire profitable move for Mazda to make one now.

    • @Stormtrooper-oc4vn
      @Stormtrooper-oc4vn 2 года назад

      @@fredzeppelin3969 your right that same argument could be made for all cars but the si is not overrated. For 25k in 2017 you got active dampers, LSD, tighter steering in sport mode, a rear wing for actual downforce not just for looks. You don't get that in any other car in 2017 unless you pay more. The gti got active dampers but if you put 3k more. Honda intended it to be fun and taken to the track which almost nobody except professional drivers did and they love it. Regular people only care about 0 to 60 so they were disappointed but it wasn't meant for them. Remember I said downforce it generated by the wing? Yeah that slows the car down in a drag race. Great car in track but not this format it's terrible.

    Own both a 23 Elantra n line and a 10th gen Si. The Si feels faster basically everywhere and can actually put power down in corners. The Elantra loves to smoke its inside tire thanks to that open front diff. Si does not like that 1-2 shift at all, slows every race from a dig way down, but always feels more responsive than the n-line. The Elantra is a good buy for what you get though, plus is more daily usable (10th gen is a coupe)

    I really love Mazda now that they are offering turbo motors with AWD. They just need to shoehorn that motor into the Miata and watch them sell! Lol I will say in the CX-5 Sig we just got, the turbo is all midrange and the transmission does shift before red line. A huge tuner needs to come in and make some upgrade to ECU and TCU. My car is next in line for an upgrade and I'll be trading in my 2015 IS F Sport for a 3 Turbo hatch! The interior on the Mazda is so much nicer than my Lexus.
