I own a hummer since 2005, I already replace motor one's after 350 K. and still until today that my hummer is my best vehicle that I ever bought, there is a lot of bad comments on the web about the engine, cost of gas, the worst vehicle ever America have done but honestly this is the same engine that most of Chevy & Gm truck use.
so i don't care... I love how I feel driving this little monster...lol

Increase tire p.s.i. within recommended manufacturer's parameters. Drive slower. No jack rabbit starts. Take routes where you utilize more right turns than an alternate route. Attempt to maintain a constant speed when driving. No long warm ups. The vehicle warms up quicker when it's in drive. Proper alignment and tire inflation yields less resistance. Change air filter, oil and oil filter, along with transmission fluid, transfer case fluid and front/rear differential fluids for less resistance on components harvesting optimally efficient performance integrated with better petrol mileage.

A lot of people say if you have to save gas you don't need one etc. I find nothing wrong with wanting to improve your H2. I'm going to put a CAI on mines and I won't go K&N because of the cost. I will go Black Powder coated aluminum. You can get a off brand CAI and upgrade K&N filter. Thats what I'm doing due to design, the off brands are designed just like K&N but saves a hundred or 2. I put a magnaflow exhaust and high flow catalytic converters on mines a year ago and i ripped out the MagnaFlow muffler. It drones way too much inside and gets very annoying. I switched to P&D stock and it gives a nice throaty tone but does not drone under load inside of the truck. The exhaust is big enough til where it's not a issue. Thanks for the post and comments from other H2 drivers. These trucks are fun to own and a collector item!!

I get just over 13 MPG with my 05 H2 with 101,000 miles on it. I have put in a K&N air filter, synthetic oil and all synthetic fluids through out the vehicle. I also got rid of the stock cooling fan and added 2 14" electric fans. Tires being inflated is a must. My next journey will be the exhaust and thats all I am going to do with my H2.

My 2009 H2 SUT gets average 14 MPG. They are not as bad as everyone thinks. I get about 20mpg highway. The only thing I've done is K&N cold air intake and a spintech cat back exhaust. The Raptor doesn't even come close with its 8-10 in the city.

I've had my 2007 Hummer for 13 years and I drive it from Las Vegas where I live to the Atlantic Ocean every year or every other year, so far EIGHT trips.
I usually I go EAST on I-40 and return WEST on I-10 one year, then reverse the route the next year. During my trips across country on I-10 which is mostly flat, and usually in June or December, I get 19.2 miles per gallon.
On I-40 in the NORTH, which is much more mountainous, I get as high as 15 mpg on the highway in the mountains with the absolute lowest mpg on I-40 being 10.9 mpg during the dead of winter, December and temps as low as 24 degrees.
In the SOUTH on I-10 the lowest mpg I ever got was 14 mpg in city traffic crawling through New Orleans in June. On the trip in the video going from Phoenix to Apache Junction on I-10, pretty flat country... I got 17.3 mpg.
    ruclips.net/video/zoLALesBol4/видео.html
Since my 100,000 mile SERVICE where the Dealership put on new belts, changed all fluids and tuned up the fuel injectors... I am getting the worst gas mileage of the past 11 years.
For the past YEAR 2018 - 2019 between 100k and 129k on my ODO, I get 16.5 on the freeway on level ground and 13.5 in the city of Las Vegas and Los Angeles. WORST GAS MILEAGE EVER and only since my 100k scheduled maintenance. I don't know if the dealership made the truck run more RICH or what they did, but my mileage has suffered over the past year.
Not a problem, I don't sweat the gas use... the greatest expense of my H2 over the past 11 years is not the fuel costs... My greatest expense has been WASHING THE DAMN TRUCK.
At $60 a pop with a $20 tip, washing the truck costs me way more than filling up my tank. I live in the middle of the Mojave Desert, so a good wash job lasts me... ONE WEEK! One day, there was not a cloud in the sky, no reports of rain, so I paid $80 to have a crew wash the Hummer and before I could get out of the parking lot, a HOODOO blew in buried my truck with sand and then before I could drive home, about three miles away... IT RAINED! When I got to my driveway, the truck was covered in MUD.
YES! I got a RAINCHECK from the car wash and they washed it again for FREE.
BUT, today... having owned the Hummer H2 11 years, first 10 years I got 19.2 miles on the highway, 16 mpg around town, only the last year have I been getting as low as 13.5 mpg in town and 14 - 16.5 mpg on the highway.
Second week of August 2019, with the truck fully loaded with suitcases and heavy gear and four fat and fluffy adults and a nine year-old two weeks ago, I got 14.4 mpg on I-15 from Vegas to Los Angeles. Probably the most weight I have ever had in the truck.
Oh yeah... I can gain 3 mpg by adding Chevron TECHRON full system cleaner to my fuel. It keeps the fuel injectors clean, every 3000 miles I add a large bottle to my tank.

The irony, I do take it out into the desert quite often.
Of the 56 vehicles I have owned since I was 15 years-old, the Corvette I bought when I was 18 and this Hummer have been the two most economical vehicles I have owned. NEITHER required any servicing other than normal scheduled consumables. NEITHER let me down.
Neither the Vette, nor the Hummer have ever disappointed me or refused to start. Worst? My Jaguar XJ-6 Vanden Plas. Needed new brakes every six months, pads were way too small for the weight of the car and the pads were not on the rear wheels, they were on the rear differential. $1,600 a pop every six months.
Hummer has been a TREAT compared to the Jag.
Photo of my Hummer in the desert. Wife not happy with this photo, she is actually in the portable potty/shower/dressing room, how and why I cannot see her in the photo is one of life's mysteries. Desert near Nipton, Cali.

@@dacarter70ify I am running these tires right now. ruclips.net/video/J6Vnlb_7FI0/видео.html They are not designed for the highway, they are MUD Rated tires, but I do go off-road so will replace these tires with more just like them when the time comes... I don't care about mileage. For the best mileage, run the OEM Goodyear AT 315/70R17 which are designed for the highway. Best scenario if you have a place to store them, get the Mud Tires for off-roading and when you are headed out on long road trips, throw on the GOODYEAR AT 315/70R17s for a smoother ride and better mpg.

I hate to say it, but your expected gains from and intake and exhaust are highly exaggerated. You may get one to two mpg difference. I drive an 03 H2. I've owned Dodge Ram 4wd's, Fords, and 5 different Chevrolet trucks from 2000 to 2008. Im a GM guy for sure but I don't mind trying other brands. The Dodge transfer case blew apart on the 2 hour drive home from where I bought it(truck had full service records and was well maintained), well known they had drive train issues but I thought mine had been addressed. I had a 2wd 2005 Hemi dodge truck, was fast and fun to drive for 2k miles before it dropped a valve and destroyed the engine. So no more dodges. My Ford 5.4 4x4 developed cam phaser issues, turned out to be a common issue and had to have new timing chains, guides, basically the front of the engine rebuilt at 80k miles. Then a spark plug broke off in the head. No more Fords. Every GM I've had has been dead reliable, and being that I drive all over the country for work, I've bought many, usually with around 100K miles, and usually sell them when they get over 300K. Never had a bad engine, did replace a couple transmissions on the half ton trucks, my 2500HD I just sold for 2K more than I bought it for, has 275K miles on it, and you cant even tell its running. GM is where its at in my opinion. But back to where I started, I've had my 03 H2 for years, its my driver when Im home, it has 185k miles on it, its never had a single issue, not one, and it doesnt matter what you do it doesnt get more than 12-13 mpg on the highway, and that's only if you don't exceed 65mph. it will creep up around 14 to 15 if you take long country back roads and keep it around 50-55. 80 mph is usually single digit gas mileage. Not on the hummer, which is bone stock down to the factory style BFG ATKO tires, but on my other GM trucks, I've had cat back exhaust's, and K&N full cold air intake systems, and the gas mileage is barely noticeable. It is what it is guys, its a 6500lb brick your pushing with a 320ish hp 6 liter V8. Really its under powered unless you get an 08 or 09. You can buy a programmer, or have it tuned for a bump in HP and better gas mileage, but you have to run premium fuel, and the cost difference in fuel way outweighs the extra couple mpg. I love the H2, it is extremely comfortable to ride in and drive. Its big and you can see everything around you, it has alot of luxury features for a ginormous SUV, and theirs nothing out there stock that will creep through the sugar sand at the beach like these things will. If you want one, buy one! You will love it, but don't be delusional about gas mileage, they don't pass up too many gas stations.

I don't just drive around town in my Hummer H2... It takes me places many never get to see or experience and does so in a manner that makes fuel economy the least of my considerations. I have other cars, I've owned 56 vehicles since I was 15 years-old, but thinking back, I have never enjoyed any of them as much as I have my Hummer H2. Having owned the Hummer H2 13 years, I have owned it longer than any other vehicle.
I am 67, my wife 64, we recently took a 2 month, 22 state, 8400 mile road trip around all of the National Parks, Smokey Mountains, Atlantic Ocean, Chesapeake Bay, three days on Cape Hatteras Island between Sept. and November 2020 with my Hummer H2.
Prior to that we spent a week exploring New Orleans, Honey Island Swamp searching for and photographing Gators and Boars and a week on Amelia Island, Florida Air Boating where my wife dragged me down a long, dark path at night, water on both sides and signs everywhere, Danger! Alligators! Not a weapon, not a flashlight while wild rabid Monkeys threw branches at us from the canopy above.
The Hummer H2 took us everywhere we wanted to go, did so in style and never, NEVER LET US DOWN!
Some of the places we go, if the Hummer were to stop working... somebody would die. No cell service, very little resources at all and at times 120 to 125 degree temperatures... in 13 years of owning my Hummer, I have NEVER seen transmission temps above 150 degrees and radiator temps above 200 degrees, virtually always runs at 198 degrees on the coolant, rarely deviates at all.
Some of those photos are included in my gallery at dizeman.com
Prior to that we spent a week at Star Wars Canyon attempting to watch and photograph military jets flying low-level maneuvers through the canyon, unfortunately, one of them flew nose-first into the canyon wall killing two pilots and injuring seven sight-seers, so that was the end of that.
Prior to that, we spent a week exploring Lake Tahoe and Northern Nevada... in fact, we have spent most of our lives exploring dozens of thousands of small towns, hamlets and cities in 47 states in the United States and four foreign nations.
WE HAVE DRIVEN OUR 2007 HUMMER H2 to literally thousands of towns, hamlets, cities exploring 47 states in the United States. Every nook and cranny we can find, we explore, more often than not it is the Hummer that makes it possible and provides SHELTER for us when times get tough, there are no camping spots, hotels, motels or lodges to be found. We know we can rely on the Hummer to keep us safe from predators of all species.... well, the Hummer and (3) CCW Permits that allow me to carry concealed legally in 39 states. Security is my first priority!

PS. What is the Zombie stuff all about? I am a professional photographer, have been for 46 years and way back in April of 2020 I was hoping to mount a machine gun turret to the roof of my Hummer H2 for a SELENE/UNDERWORLD or Lara Croft/TOMB RAIDER themed photo shoot, but Covid shut things down before I could finish the themed photo shoot.
Ironically, 8400 miles through 22 states... though dozens of dozens of people had good things to say about the Hummer, a few questions, lots of smiles and thumbs up... not one person asked, "What's in the Body Bag?" (Lounge Chairs!)

Ok…I posted on another of your comments here w/?s about better gas mileage.
Now I’m curious about your 3 CCW Permits that allows you to carry in 39 States legally. Crossing State Lines and knowing if they offer reciprocity from your original State, has kept me from carrying. With today’s craziness I don’t feel as safe traveling alone as Ive done previously. What does your wife carry if/when you’re not around? Thank you for any advice.

    • @DIZEMANPHOTO
      @DIZEMANPHOTO 2 года назад

@@Leoness90210 Sorry for a late response, I missed the notice that you commented.
I am a Nevada resident, so I have had a Nevada CCW for six years and when I took my CCW course in Las Vegas, my home for 45 years, the instructor gave me the tests and filled out the applications for additional CCW permits in Utah and Florida.
Via reciprocity, the three states combined at the time of my certifications covered 39 states.
That number can vary from time to time, because over time some states opt out of allowing other states' permits to be used in their state.
Having watched how it works over the years, I noticed states sometimes act like Elementary School Children, if a state drops them for any reason, the state seems to react like... "Well, if we can't carry in your state, then you can't carry in ours. NYA! NYA!, NYA!" so, you have to be vigilant and keep an eye on each state regulation pretty much every year to keep from getting into trouble.
When traveling on our 8400 mile, 2 month, 22 state Road Trip in 2020, we planned ahead as to which states we could enter with my Springfield Armory XDs 9mm 4 inch concealed on my person and which states I had to store the weapon, unloaded and in a locked container in the back of the Hummer.
Originally, I had planned to take my AR-15 to Maryland, so my son and I could do some shooting, but Maryland won't even allow me to enter with the AR-15.
Other states would allow the AR-15, but only allowed a 10 round magazine.
I bought several 10 round magazines just for the trip, but... after realizing how many states would be a hassle and risky if I got stopped... I decided to leave the AR at home.
My wife does not carry at the moment, but she is getting her Nevada, Utah and Florida CCW permits very soon so she will be ready for our 2022 travel season.
She is very proficient with weapons, it seems to come naturally for her. Prior to traveling,
I used the CCW Reciprocity MAP and State Gun Laws info provided here...
      www.usconcealedcarry.com/resources/ccw_reciprocity_map/
      and here...
      handgunlaw.us/
to plot my course as to where I would go and what I needed to do with my gun when traveling in specific states.
I printed out pages of each state I was traveling through and used HIGHLITERS to mark hey details and laws I needed to pay attention to.
Yes! All of it was available on my IPhone 12 Pro Max and my IPad, but being an old fart, I still like the extra security of having HARD COPIES of ROAD ATLASES and CCW STATE LAWS with me in case the DIGITAL WORLD shuts down and all I have are paper copies of the info to guide me.
I have owned many guns all of my life, since my first .410 shotgun at age 12, but guns do not make my nipples hard and I don't play war games on weekends... I have guns for 2 reasons. Those required to protect me from others who would harm myself, my family or others in my immediate proximity and one or two for the bad guy, just in case he forgets to bring one when he enters my home. I am, after all... a generous man.
I don't display weapons. I virtually never care OPEN, unless I am out in the wild and the holster is on my Tactical Pack where I can get to it should a Bear drop in to say Hello! Two cannisters of Bear Spray are always accessible as well.
I want to be the last guy a bad guy would suspect of being his tour guide of Hell... Surprise is a good thing when weighing options of how to deal with a bad guy. I am a pragmatic and logically, if a bad guy walks into a store and see's me wearing OPEN CARRY, I instantly become his greatest immediate obstacle which he may or may not be mentally and emotionally capable of processing under stress, so I want to be the last person he could imagine might hand him an E-Ticket to Hell.
Hope that I answered your question, I don't have racks full of firearms, but I do have several within reach in special places around my home just in case I get surprised by an uninvited guest.
Unless there is some strange instance beyond my control, I am always carrying concealed, not only for my protection, but for the protection of those who don't like turning their life over to a bad guy with a gun. The crazies used to hide under rocks, but in 2022 they sit on top of the rock spitting on all that is good openly and freely without reservation or hesitation.
      Be safe!

Did you have many things go wrong, that were covered under warranty? I’m only asking because…..I had many things fail… from Stereo System, Radiator, After Market Mirrors, water leaks from improperly installed steps (cut boot in door to thread wires through) and many other things which I can’t remember at moment…. Luckily because I drove over 70K miles before Manf Warranty was up and had also purchased Extended Warranty for after Manf Warr. If I hadn’t driven so many miles in first 3 yrs, The Issues I encountered might not have gotten covered.
My Concern is that those people who “Don’t Drive That Much” to get the kinks worked out…..then sell H2 with Low Miles…… Could be an Issue for someone who thinks their getting great deal….only to have expensive things go wrong and no longer have a Factory Warranty or just have short Warranty from Dealership.
Just Curious! I don’t meet too many people who’ve bought their H2s Brand New and have Broken them in by actually driving them…..not just on the weekends.

@@mateolopez3454 What did entail having underbody redone? Is that to keep it from rusting out! I've spent a lot of time by different beaches and have some rust due to that. Id be interested what/how they did it. I had aftermarket wheels and need to get them re-chromed or get new. I've had radiator and water pump both replaced. Mine was loaded, because it was specked out for a Pro Athlete in Scottsdale Az and then decided not to. Luckily, I had Partner Program through work and was able to get them down to cost on after market things and had a few things removed. I have Electric Steps which I've had to replace the motors, hard cover on spare tire etc. I don't ever plan on getting rid of mine either. Mine listed around 90K with all the extras, but that's not what i paid. TY for your info. I'm having issues with my sunroof and after market backup camera. Its all good though!

Hummers really aren’t that bad on fuel!!! I always get around 16.5mpg on Highway and 13-14 mpg per tank of fuel. Any V-8 4x4 full-size truck, is in that same ballpark!! I sold a 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 4x4 with 33” tires and a 360 V-8 that only averaged 11mpg. And never got above 13mpg on a highway trip. So my H2 SUT is more fuel efficient that most V-8 trucks that were produce all the way through the last decade. So they really only considered bad on fuel if your used to driving a Prius!! For the rest of us MEN who grew up owning Trucks, there’s really no difference.

Actually in theory the intake and exhaust is supposed to improve MPG.... but in real life you’ll get worse.
Plus most people with hummers are gonna add bigger wheels and tires/lift which kills the mpg more.
Thus, ultimately 10mpg like everyone else in the end. Haha.

GM could have saved the Hummer brand by going with a different drivetrain. A vehicle this heavy with such a large engine with only a 4-speed transmission is a formula for gas guzzler anyway. Improved fuel systems and 6-8 speed transmissions is what's saving today's newer pickup trucks. Does a transmission upgrade exist for an H2, such as a 5-speed or 6-speed?

Hummers are not for everybody. Neither are 45 foot motorhomes or water skis. This entire thread reminds me of the guy who chains a 36 foot cabin cruiser on the back of his Datsun B80 pickup truck and wonders why people are staring at him. Pick the RIGHT VEHICLE FOR YOUR NEEDS or DESIRES. Don't try to make a Fiat perform like a Hummer, nor a Hummer perform like a Fiat. I like the idea of getting better gas mileage in my Hummer H2, but honestly, to be blunt... I just could not care less! I did not buy the Hummer, because I expected to get 30 miles per gallon, nor 20, even though I have come damn close on several trips on I-10. Understand the rules of inertia, keep your engine working in good order, toss some CHEVRON TECHRON in your tank every 2000 miles and when you can, get the Hummer up to 70 mph... the inertial sweet spot, put the cruise control on and sit back and enjoy the best mileage a 6500 to 7200 pound TRUCK is going to get. If doing so gives you a headache or breaks your bank... GET A FRIGGIN SUBARU! I have one of those too for when I want 30 mpg. But I like the Hummer best of all.

I often did close to 90 mph, because trucks and cars pushed me to do so. I don't know fast my 2007 WELL MAINTAINED Hummer h2 will go, I know I have had it 90 and it had more to go, but... why on earth would anyone want to drive a SHOEBOX SHAPED SUV that weighs in my case 7200 pounds faster than 80 or 90 mph is the first place. Your argument is ridiculous at face value... how friggin fast did you want to drive a vehicle designed to be an OFFROAD/HIGHWAY HYBRID? You don't need a Hummer Dude, you need a Pilot's License. No, it's not 8600, just google 2007 hummer h2 curb weight. It's 6400 - 6600 depending on options. Most of them are 6400, I own one. It's total gross weight (max cargo total vehicle weight, that's when it's fully loaded is 8600 (vehicle plus cargo)) Gross weight is NOT what the vehicle weights, that's what it weights fully loaded with cargo. Curb weight is what a vehicle weights without any cargo and is what we anyone refers to when talking about a vehicle's weight.

GM did not make the Hummer H2. God damn dude, you own a Hummer H2 and don't know this? AM General built the Humvee, H1, and H2. The H3 was built by GM. GM does not own the Hummer brand. Hummer is owned by AM General. AM General worked with GM to be able to mass produce the H2 and H3. Hints why there is cheap GM plastic in the H2. The H1 was built for the rich and they (AM General) didn't build much of those.
