I'm very excited to show you guys this because I haven't made an update in about two months.... unfortunately shortly after the last update, I FAILED TO BACK UP THE CURSED BLACK FILE after I had to do a clean install of Ubuntu. This means, all the coding progress I made from when I first got out of summer, from May to the beginning of July, ALL THAT PROGRESS WAS FOR NONE AND I HAD TO START OVER. GODDAMNIT THIS PISSED ME OFF SO MUCH. I swear I was in a depression for a few days after that happened... and had to restart a lot of things I fixed in the last video from an older backup file. This set me back quite a lot. Now I'm not only caught up but I'm past the point where my last save file was.. AND now I have an active backup of the game file in my external hard drive and in dropbox. This is not going to happen again.
There isn't a HUGE amount of visible progress here because believe it or not, i've been bug-fixing all summer (i'm talking about bugs that were present in the LAST demo that I could never figure out but I finally sat down and fixed them), and finally I got enough things working to show a demo.
Right now the following works:
Creating a Pokemon
Pokemon learning attacks by level
Pokemon fainting
Pokemon being cursed
Party system with switching enabled
Trainer battles
Cursing Trainers (as in, tombstone curse, not verbal...)
Events with NPC (got my own language working in Game Maker)
Wild pokemon battles, real or with Ghost
here are the new things that are different from the original Pokemon Red:
- There is a building connecting all major maps (towns, routes)
- There is a building in Route 1, this is Blue's house
- Blue (female playable character, rival if not playable) is added
- Security guards at every town connection with new text Игры
I know the feels of losing code... Well I'm glad to see the project start to become a real game. Hell, if you showed me this without telling me it was a PC game, I'd say it was a Rom hack! Love the progress, keep it up!!
Thank you for putting all this effort in for this. I think it's going to be a really interesting artistic piece even. I look forward to seeing your next updates and I can't wait to play it some day!!
Cool. I thought this was stalled but you're clearly gradually working on it. Cant wait to see the finished version!

Not sure if you added this or not, but the original creepy pasta said that when the screen turned black you hear the screech of the pokemon, but at only 80% normal pitch or something like that. I didn't notice it in the previous demo beta 3. regardless that would be awesome. Also changing the screen size would be most helpful. Great Job by far though.
lol, same thing happened to me, i lost part of my animation when installing linux, i now keep everything in my dropbox. I managed to get 6.9GB worth of space that ill put all my projects in.
hah! even though it sucks we both lost time by repairing our loses, it's nice to see i wasn't the only one :)

Did you compose the song yourself? The game is really coming together by the way, glad to see it's still alive.
Blue the female character shouldn't be called Yellow? I guess that Yellow would be better since Green and Blue are rival names.
Grammar error at 5:38, the NPC says CENER instead of CENTER
i'm sticking to these names because i'm trying to stick to the original features of Red and Blue... which in reality was Red/Green in Japan. If you played Red in Japan, your rival's name would be Green (for the other version), hence the third and unused name is Blue. This doesn't apply to america of course, but because I'm such a fan of the Pokemon Manga (and they use these names) i'd rather stick to that. unless, of course, there's a big outcry that says otherwise

Wait, so you're not doing the whole 'Ghost is the only usable Pokémon, and there are no wild battles' thing? I'm fine either way, I think this project is great, but I'm just wondering.
Can you play the game normally without the ghost?
Why would you want too?, you can already play Red and Blue.
I still haven't decided yet whether I'll let players catch pokemon or not... it's a big step and it gives me a bigger workload, but for now, at least you'll have your starter to train, evolve, and teach HMs to.

Reidd Maxwell I think we should be able to catch pokemon, I belive it's on Fuchsia or some other town in which you have to use surf to continue the game and if you choose Charmander or Bulbsaur you won't be able to get around that, unless you decide to make a bridge or something so you don't have to use surf o,o. Anyways, great work so far!!!
