Lightning , so pretty and dazzling but not this time. Alone and at a remote anchorage it strikes the mast and smashes a hole in the bottom of my boat and water is flooding in. The video is my desperate struggle to save my home.

You handled the situation better than most AND FILMED IT!!1!? I'm in awe!
You're as tough as nails and as cool as a cucumber Plucky! Most people would have been panicking and unable to think straight in that situation.
Ah so good that you are replaying these old videos. What a terrible time that was, but you handled it so well. I guess you are replaying this story to fill in while you give yourself a bit more time to put together the next videos with the new crew. Either way Mate, you've done such a great job doing what you do. From the days on a Cat around Australia to where you are now on a monohull and then the saga with Margarida leaving, I think you're doing just fine and you need to know, you are the main reason why most people watch this channel.
If memory serves me right, he released these out of sync with the rest of his videos and now the series has caught up and so they are due for release as they should have been....I think.
@@dougclark9921 I just looked back. He released this exact story on the 24th of October 2020. A whole year ago. So are you saying that Margarida left him over a year ago and then the lightning strike happened? He's got a whole stack of videos with her in them after October last year.
I think Plukky needs to tell us why he is repeating them or is he just filling in, like I said, because he just released a trailer announcing new crew. A bit confusing I think.

Hey bro ! I’m a plumber and a boater , loved this one ! I’ve devoted 35 years to what I refer to as “water taming” ! It’s always trying to bust out and get back to the ocean ! Great job with the trouble shooting , patches , clamps and rigging pumps ! I’ll pass on the sharks !! 😂
great video and explanation. Yeah, you always have had nice looking crew, but that is not the only reason some of us appreciate your channel. You have a good sense of how things work, and without lots of money or fancy equipment, you keep things working. Good job.

I stopped watching just after the lightning strike months ago because the sequence of videos became all over the place. One minute the boat is sinking, but in the next video that's all forgotten and we're having fun spearfishing or whatever elsewhere. Chronological order is a must for me.

Should have used the raw water input of the engine as a crash pump. The bilge water as the raw water , on my boat I created a manifold where I ran the other end ball valve to the bilge to put the engine to beer at the problem. I also have my pressure fresh water on it so if I water to back wash the raw water inlet, or layup the engine on freshwater in the heat exchanger. You never can have enough crash pumps.

not sure what to think about this - Is it the old strike reposted or a new lightening strike happened again ? Its kind of painful to watch because I like the channel and want to be supportive but this could go very bad if people get the wrong ideal. Please splain it a bit so we can understand whats up.
This is the strike in chorological order as it happened after Ep 311, posted last week. Not a new strike.

Sinking at sea at night and you stay calm and fix the problem. Love how you're diving with sharks and you don't care. Wonder if in any other circumstance you'd be ok diving at night with those sharks? Very impressive.

A grounding plate, sometime a zinc is used from a lightning rod on the mast offshore or not.
There are too many conductive through-hulls to wire, a cause of leaks from gaskets melting, only saw a couple of cases, pumps kept up, Pt.Townsend, WA, USA yard.

This may seem completely insane, but I'm not sure if I can think of anyone I'd rather be multiply lightning struck with no contact in the middle of the ocean accompanied by bull sharks with.

This video is a lesson in not panicking and how to think through a problem. great job of finding the problem, deciding on a course of action to fix the problem, having the balls to jump into the water with the big fishys and getting the job done.
