Looks like you had that pan pretty far into a pretty hot fire. What's your take on the teflon over open camp fire flames? The description of this pan says to not use on camp fires, how's it holding it up? How many times have you used it similarly to how you did in this video? Notice any teflon breakdown? Thanks for any additional opinions, and for this great video.
Hi mate, this pan is no longer with us. The wife threw it out after a camping trip as we'd left it in a bin liner bag and it got mixed up with the trash. But yeah, the Teflon worked fine over an open flame, you just need to be careful that any oil in the pan doesn't catch fire or it scorches off the Teflon coating. Its a chance I took. The scorching happened really early on, we'd used it multiple times after that incident, being careful to keep food away from the scorched area to prevent sticking. To be safe though, best to use it over a gas stove, its also quite heavy, its not a lightweight option. I haven't replaced it with another yet, still looking into alternatives. Thanks for watching, hope this helps.
Handy wee spot you found there. I had Scots pine tea the other day, I let it steep in boiled water for 5 minutes, didn't really have any taste to me, how did you find the spruce tea?
Cheers buddy. Yeah some books say to steep the needles in water, but I don't find it produces much flavour that way, if at all. When i do it, I boil the needles in with the water, it gives more flavour. I haven't used pine all that often (spruce is more common in my area) - but i think it has a stronger flavour, again, when boiled in the water rather than steeped. Over all, it doesn't beat a lemon & ginger infusion teabag lol, but the spruce gives a nice freshness to a cup of hot water when it's cold. Thanks for watching mate, take care.
@@Woodsman_wildcamper cheers
Nice one Andy..... nice few hours in camp mate :) That chair was a great find!! The weather looked great..... just more rain and sleet here. Roll on some warm sun :) Always a pleasure catching up with you mate :) Have a great week, all the best, Mark :)
Cheers Mark, yeah it was a decent day in between all the others. The chair was great at first, but the temps dropped and I was getting cold sitting high up from the fire. The good old seating pad saved the day as usual lol. Thanks for stopping by mate, enjoy your weekend, take care.
Really nice footage. Now I got triggered and want a good ole German Bratwurst from home. 😍
Cheers mate, ooooooooh.... Bratwurst, good call. Thanks for stopping by, take care.
Nice video. Hang in there!
Cheers buddy, I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching, take care 👍
class buddy ATB..
Cheers Craig, I'm glad you liked it mate. Thanks for watching, take care.
awsome trip
Cheers buddy, I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for stopping by, take care.
Nice job buddy, that fire looked great as did the food. Thanks for sharing your day👊
Cheers Wade, I'm glad you like it mate, thanks for stopping by, take care.
Getting the sexy man beast beard! YUT!
Lol, I might have to get rid incase it harbouring the vicious coronavirus 😱
@@Woodsman_wildcamper tight gas mask seal!
A cracking video Andy mate. Now spruce tea, that's a new one on me. I will give it a go once I find some 😂 lol keep up the good work. ATB bud. Rob
Cheers Rob, glad you liked it mate. Yeah the spruce tea Is nice the flavour isn't as strong as pine needle tea. Just try to use the younger, greener needles as the older ones have a bitter taste. Thanks for stopping by, take care mate 👍
Morning, Andy ; Great day to have in your Woods, Looks like you enjoyed your Meal & Spruce Needle Tea ! Good Hearing Your Mrs. Is On The Mend ! Have a Swell Weekend. Scratch For Our Lil Buddy RUSTY ! ATB T God Bless
Cheers Terry, it was a great day for it mate. Yeah the turkey sausages have grown on me. I can't eat pork anymore, it's one of the foods that flares my eczema, so turkey sausages and turkey bacon have taken it's place. Can't complain though, it's healthier for me. I'm getting leaner again lol. Thanks for watching mate, enjoy your weekend. Take care.
That's a great spot there Andy and I'd have done the same and used that same site. Cant beat a bit of time chilling around the fire and sharing a few sausages with our faithful companions 🙂🔥 and always rude not to have a brew from the natural resources around us. Cheers Andy, have a top weekend, Rick n Billy
Cheers Rick, yeah it was a cool little site right on the corner of the burn. The turkey sausages are really nice and Rusty seems to enjoy them to lol. People aren't always a fan of the the pine/spruce needle tea, I had a guy comment a while ago saying it tasted like floor cleaner lol. But i like it, it's got a really fresh taste to it. Thanks for stopping by mate, take care.
Nice one Andy, there's a lot to be said for the Ochils, my main walking buddy has just moved to Dollar so its 'literally' on his doorstep. He's a big advocate, I've been happy to join him on a few schleps that way myself. Keep the vids coming and I hope its all going well mate.
Cheers buddy, yeah the Ochils is a great area. I'm lucky to live so close. Yeah we're all well mate, thanks for asking. Have a great week, take care 👍
Sometimes life gets in the way of plans Andy hope your wife is OK mate and on the mend nice little spot atvb jimmy 😎😎
Cheers Jimmy, yeah she's all sorted now. Thanks for watching mate, take care.
Love the badge on your haversack, it is so true 😊. By the way did you say "pick the minions up from school?" sure sounded like it 😄
Aw thanks, yeah I photo-shopped one of Rusty's pics and added on the quote as a post for our instagram. Thought it would make a cool patch.
Lol, yeah..... "minions" is a term of endearment. They're good little helpers.
Thanks for stopping by, take care.
Sorry about the Mrs,
At least you got out. Rusty enjoyed it too.
Thanks for sharing 🙏🏻
Cheers Michael, yeah I was grateful for a few hours sat by a fire. She's all good now mate, on the mend. Thanks for stopping by, take care.
Good camera work as usual. Nice afternoon out. I fully expected you to go straight through that chair ha ha.
Cheers Patrick. Lol, yeah I thought I might go through it to as I sat down. I kinda wish I had, would've been good for an end of year bloopers video lol. Thanks for stopping by mate, take care 👍
Very nice mate - Reminds me of my wild camping days. Loving the pan and the cup :)
Cheers Chris, glad you enjoyed it mate.
A nice afternoon out, Andy. I thought that chair had a case of the rot when you first sat down - haha
As always, a pleasure to stop by, mate! ATB
Lol yeah it was a bit creaky. I think i'll stick to my humble sitting pad, atleast i can sit closer to the fire and actually feel it's warmth then. Thanks for watching mate, take care.
Cracking way to spend an afternoon, that sack is a regular Tardis too!
Cheers Si, yeah it was nice to have a couple hours by the fire.
Lol, yeah, if i hear a robotic "exterminate... exterminate" then I'll be concerned. Thanks for watching mate, take care.
lovely stuff
Cheers buddy, I'm glad you liked it. Thanks for watching, take care.
@@Woodsman_wildcamper Any update on pan? Did it bend or warp? Coating come off? have a favorite non stick pan?
@@BOOSTEDLASER hi buddy, the pan is great, the non stick coating works really well. The only issue I've had, was self induced, when I wasnt careful while cooking some pork sausages over the fire. The sausage fat caught fire and burnt the non stick coating at the front of the pan. So I only have about half of the pan that still retains the non stick coating. I can still cook on it, I just need to be careful while cooking eggs, and make sure they stay on the non stick portion of the pan. There is a bit of weight to it, so it's not a lightweight, backpacking option. But other than that it's a great pan. Hope this helps, thanks for watching, take care 👍
@@Woodsman_wildcamper Thanks, WOW 1 second of fire and it destroyed the coating. Seems not durable
@@BOOSTEDLASER yeah, but to be fair mate, they do say not to use it over an open fire. It's a chance you take really.
A nice chilled day camp there mate, ahh the humble sausage, I love them.
Mate, can you tell me the name of your mittens please, I really like those. Cheers, Ant 👍
Lol, can't beat a good campfire sausage Ant.
Yeah the gloves are great, Solognag Wool Hunting Mittens from Decathlon, currently £7.99 - link below:

I might buy myself another pair, cause they're awesome. I think they're about 85% wool. They're the only gloves I use, except my Wells Lamont leather work gloves for around the fire.
Thanks for stopping by mate, take care.
