Such high quality castings, the grain is tight and perfect. It's a shame the only machines costing a small fortune can compare today. Such a nice model. Great stuff Randy...
G’day Randy. I must say your restoration looks superb. Love the colour too. My father was a builder / carpenter and had an Australian made Durden table saw & jointer planer. Wish I had it now. Thanks for sharing. Cheers 🍻 Aaron. PS: I posted off your stickers today too
I've got an old Delta jointer that I inherited from my dad. It accompanies the nice Craftsman cast iron table saw of the same vintage I found earlier this year.
My Grandfather's was identical to this jointer, but a stand-alone on a delt cast iron base. Nasty ex-sister-in-law sold it before I was able to buy the only 5 pieces that's in my shop today. I have to refurbish his delta 24 scroll saw, and delta wood lathe,,but one day will hopefully get to it. The iron really looks iin great shape on your jointer. Hope you try out Kleen Strip on rust removal. It is may go-to rust removal, and bi-o friendly,,,See you on PT 5 (@@), have a great wk,,Bear.
Nowhere near on topic, but I was hoping to solicit your opinion on something. I was recently offered the three pieces of slate that came out of the failed restoration of some very fancy pool table. I don't have a nice big surface plate. I was considering bonding these three pieces together and creating a torsion box to support it. All of this is based on the assumption that a pool table has to be very flat. I cannot find any information on what they consider to be flat. Do you think this could work as a DIY surface plate? What is your best guess of its flatness? My backup idea is to make it a drafting table, but if possible I would really like to have it as a surface plate. Can I get your overall thoughts?
That is the kind of machine I used to drool over in the back of the popular mechanics magazine as a kid. 😎
yep for sure Brian. looking good. thanks.
Nice jointer. Gary is a great guy. Nice start Randy
Thanks Randy.
Nice jointer Randy. Anxious to see it completed. I have a 6" powermatic, it's a pain to tune but once they are cutting true you cant beat them 👍
thanks Clarke, the adjusting on some jointers and planers are not very well thought out.
Awesome video Randy. Thanks
Thanks Mark.
Wow, a beautiful piece of engineering there Randy, it will really complement the great looking saw. Enjoyed immensely, cheers!
Thank you Howder, getting there.
Coming along nicely. I had one that looked just like that at one time.
thanks Harold.
Awesome of Gary to hook you up! Some good-old quality iron there, should be a great machine...
For sure Gary has been a huge help. He found a motor for me, I will go pick it up soon.

For sure John, very well made. thank you.

Thank you Aaron.
Man, save that sawdust. You never know when you might need it. 🤣
My dad had that same jointer on its own stand. Nice tool.
Thanks,
John
Lol, if is old saw dust worth a fortune.

Nice Tim.
Back when companies took pride in making products that would last longer than one day after the warranty expired.
Great series Randy!
Coming to life again, I did use this saw to build my shop addition last year.
I used to own an old Duro Metal Products 6" jointer that looked identical, maybe whoever made yours rebranded them for other companies. Worked great
Good deal Jim.

Would a machined steel pulley be better as far as vibration goes on a jointer that probably turns at 3600 RPM?????
yes, i think for most it is better. A good smooth belt is also important. I am thinking of using link belts for the saw and jointer.

not even close to the flatness of even a cheap surface plate. good drafting table. surface plate you are talking .0002” across the plate.
I recently learned from a different channel that you were a ships engineer. Can I ask what kind of ships you usually worked on? Naval or merchant?
Merchant Tankers, 30 yrs
@@RRINTHESHOP did you ever know an old guy named Gene who was widely referred to as shy-theed?
Can’t say I did.
volume is constantly low lately,,,,
Sorry, sounded fine on my end. Maybe my hearing is going.
What is the model number of that jointer please, I believe I have the same model only on it's own stand.
In video description, thanks.
Volume is way to low
sorry James.
