Love it! I don't remember hearing anything else from Charles & Eddie, but I'm glad they left us with this gem. It's on my playlist to this day.
Fan fact, Elton John convinced BBC radio to play this song, that's how they became a hit in Europe and in Africa. And I actually found out this year that they are American! All these years I thought they were British. R.I.P Charles Pettigrew.

That's the song I first thought of when I saw the title. This is a decent song, great for bee bopping with your friends, great falsetto, but......Annie Lennox! Her voice and delivery on the other one are outstandingly memorable.

I was just checking the background on Charles & Eddie and discovered Charles Pettigrew was born on May 12th. He shares a birthday with my mom and dad (Yes, my parents were born on the same day!), which just endeared him to me. I remember grooving to the song when I was hitting the dance floor at clubs in L.A. in the 90's. Rest in paradise, Charles. Thanks for sharing the gift of your beautiful voice.

This is over 30 years old and I love hearing it! Takes me back to my early teens. Back when I was also listening to RATM, Pantera, Metallica, Extreme, Motley Crue! Fabulous time in my life. ❤️
These guys had a great sound. This song was their biggest hit along with 3 others that hit big on the charts. They performed together for about 9 years but only put out 2 albums. Unfortunately, at the end of that 9 years, Charles died of cancer at the age of 37 in 2001. Their soulful and bluesey sound lives on.

First time I heard this, I was totally convinced it was a classic from the 60's.
That's the thing about decades. Eventually they always go retro to an earlier one.
The 90's did retro 70's. A huge wave of Neo-Soul music came out in droves and also some retro pop gimmick sounds.
For example: Remember the videos for Groove is in the heart and Love Shack?
A perfect crossover song - everything about this track was spot on - and Amber is right it is pretty timeless and remains an absolute classic.

When this came out it was just straight up fun. I remember it as being late summer 1992 and it was one of those songs you played while in the car with your “summer love” to wrap up your time off and recall all the experiences that occurred over the vacation. Its popularity continued into the fall and was listened heavily to while riding with my back to school crush. Lol This was an era of fun in music that is sadly over now … until the great music renaissance anyway. One can dream.

In 2020 this song came on the radio while I was at work and I hadn't heard the song since the 90s. I downloaded the song and played it on repeat for about 3 months straight. Awesome song. The song has been in my regular rotation ever since.

"Charlie & Eddie - NYC (Can You Believe This City) Live 1993" (by the channel: The Midnight Special) It showcases the pairs harmonies and vocal range. Eddie Chacron (light skin) went on to become a songwriter, record producer and photographer and I believe he's dropped another record recently. peace Out~
