Through the Years | Work Zone Awareness Week 2023

This week, April 17-21, is National Work Zone Awareness Week (NWZAW). This year’s theme, “Work With Us,” aims to bring national attention to the shared responsibility of motorists and workers to ensure the safety of our work zones.
We're kicking things off with a new video showcasing the evolution of the famous Work Zone Awareness promotional posters since 2002.
Work Zone Awareness Week was first held in 1997 in VDOT's Bristol District, with the idea to focus on work zone safety to raise employee awareness. The event has grown into a national public safety and awareness campaign.
