Wynter's 2021 Idaho Centennial Trail Thru-Hike: Episode 3

The final stretch of the Owyhee Desert! We hiked 32 miles from hunter's cabin to Bruneau Overlook. There's a beautiful oasis in Winter Camp with lots of shade and a water source all year long. If you can plan to camp here, you definitely should. There's a ton of flat, soft spots to camp, just be okay with sharing with cows. Winter Camp is the only reliable source of water from the begining of the trail to the Snake River, around 90 miles.
We walked a little bit slower than expected so we needed a bail out near the Overlook because we ran out of water. The last two days out in the desert were 100+ degree weather. Learn from my mistakes! TAKE AN UMBRELLA! It's worth it! Otherwise you'll be snuggled up with rattlers underneath some sage bushes.
