Senior Muslim religious authorities agree that FGM is neither required nor prohibited by Islam. The Quran does not mention FGM or male circumcision. FGM is praised in a few hadith (sayings attributed to Muhammad) as noble but not required, though the authenticity of these hadith has been questioned.
The problem we have as Muslims is that any religious act that the West deem as anti so called human rights against women, some of our shameful muslim brothers and sisters jump in the wagon to sell that western ideology; ranging from HIJAB, POLYGAMY, WIFE AT HOME etc. I advice the host and panelist to consider HIJAB clothing, as it is better for them here and hereafter. I equally advice all muslim women to engage in covering as dictated by the religion. In the case of covering, there is no dispute, then why don't you obey that command? Instead sister FATOU is here to help ban something in its entirety which is not prohibited by our deen. However Fatou chose to abandon the HIJAB that is compulsory. SO, WHERE ARE WE MUSLIMS? It is all MISPLACED PRIORITIES, because we have neglected our ISLAMIC MORALITY.
