I recently polished my spinner. I used a bench grinder with a buffing wheel and started with a more aggressive compound (black) working into white compound for final gloss. I would be wary of using that type of compound on painted surfaces as the color is usually so thin. What is the wool disc you are using?
You detailed my Malibu on a prior video. 3+ years later, looks great. What products do you use to clean unpainted aluminum, especially dirty belly on another plane I have?
Thanks for the vid. I have a Sonex project I've recently taken on... and it was polished while the previous owner was working on it. BUT... years in a hanger, and being transported on a trailer.... well... it's going to need a re-polish before it's first flights. What is the product (polish) you use?... edit... (found it in the description)
Hello from San Diego, the work that you do is like magic, this must be your super power! In your next video could you mention how you got started? Did you spend hours each month washing and waxing your first car? Best wishes, Denis
Hi! Like your videos. I was wondering, as a wanna be but not yet pilot, is a polished aluminum plane harder or easier to see by other planes, than a painted plane. White for instance. Thanks
Great videos, just ordered the cleaner and brush you have listed for my truck. Should I use the same products you have listed for the paint on a car or truck or is it just for aluminum? Keep the videos coming, love the progress you are making on your personal plane. Can't wait for the next video of your progress with that.
If you go way back to my older videos, I have a few episodes from back when I worked on cars. Let me know if you have any specific questions on those. The products here were really mostly aluminum centered
You didnt ceramic coat the polished aluminum on this or on your airplane. Why is that? What product will serve a similar purpose on polished aluminum? Does ceramic coating not stick to the polished surface? Is it not as optically clear? I know of people who have ceramic coated non clearcoated polished wheels, is this just snake oil? Polishing your airplane. And the on going maintenance must be a headache. How does one help lessen that and keep the plane looking great?
I am testing ceramic coatings on my own plane, and although the initial results are good, I want a bit more data on it before I start offering it as a service. Clarity with Crystal Serum Ultra isn't my main concern, more so how wiping a coating on and off will affect the finish (in terms of scratches), and ofcourse, being a paint specific coating, what kind of durability can be expected. There are other coatings, such as Gtechniq C1 that are more generalist coatings, that might work well here too. Again, need more data before I can offer it as service.
Thank you for the master class!! Awesome awesome awesome
Mindy with a mustache!!! Still beautiful!!!!! You guys did an awesome job!!!
I’m glad you got it looking like new because now I’ll be thinking about seeing if it’s for sale
Cool project and a plus for working with a genuine person as Mindy,, Greetings from Sweden 🥶
Yes! Mindy is awesome, and a tireless polisher too!
Looking at a Polished 195. I am curious. Hangared in the west, I am wondering how often you would expect to do this job.
Awesome video! Can’t wait to see 02D in person!
Thanks!
Great recommendations! Now to start polishing on mine after not cleaning it for months.

You earned a video like as soon as I saw your mustache. The video was also good.
😂🥸
Beautiful, love the polished look
Is there anyway to protect the aluminum or is there no need

Great video! I need to do this with my 170 soon. I think I have more compounding work to do though.
You can do it!

What was the name of the cleaner used for the interior?

Have you ever tried using an airway buff for polishing the bare metal?
I am a bit worried about those on thinner aircraft aluminum
@@AvianaAircraft good point. I didn’t think about that. The big rigs I use them on are much thicker metal.

@@Chevygang23LT also, keep in mind Mindy and Kevin had never polished anything before this! I wanted to make it as easy and safe as possible.
@@AvianaAircraft absolutely for them, this is the best bet!
Don’t they make any type of protection for aircraft aluminum?

How much would you charge for a job like this?
thanks

A clean airplane is a happy airplane.
