    As I stayed in Auckland in June,2006, I took a bus for Rotorua but it was Queen's birthday so there were very few shuttle buses between Rotorua city centre and Hell's gate so I took a taxi instead. I first walked in Hell's gate then had a mud bath as well as ye did. I would love to go there again to stay in Rotorua at least for two days. cheers

    Redwood forest looks beautiful both daytime and at night. Rotorua definitely great location for outdoor pursuits and good on you Charlotte, you’re very brave! ❤

      Thanks Tracy! Such a great experience. The platforms in the trees are constructed and hung in a way that doesn’t affect the trees at all as well, which is so cool and clever!! I can’t believe she jumped from that platform to be honest!! But she did it 🤩

      @@cjexplores that’s clever! Great location for a day out. Would certainly add it to my NZ bucket list. 🫶🏻

    Upon discovering mud baths for the first time, I recalled encountering hot springs in Chitral, northern Pakistan, where nearby hotels have redirected this water into their swimming pools and bath showers.
    Initially, it might seem unusual, but after a few minutes, it feels like a full-body massage.
    While I practice this in the summer, I believe it would be even more enjoyable in the winter.

      How lovely!! Thanks Zakri ❤️ I’m very keen to experience hot springs in winter too

    That's what's great about N.Z., there's so much to do and see, besides Middle Earth locations! I've got a Serious problem with heights, but I'd suck it up for those adventures 🤣👍. 🖖😎🤘🇨🇦🍻

    Is Hell's Gate just mud pools in terms of geothermal activity? Are there no erupting geysers, no coloured pools or coloured cliffs or terraces?

    • @cjexplores
      @cjexplores  Месяц назад +1

      There’s a lot more to see and do there. It’s an adventure playground for young and old!!

  • @grahamcook9289
    @grahamcook9289 Месяц назад

    Wot, no spouting geysers?

    • @cjexplores
      @cjexplores  Месяц назад

      No unfortunately not!! There are some places in the area you can visit, but they seem like a tourist trap because they throw soap products into the geyser to cause it to erupt

    • @grahamcook9289
      @grahamcook9289 Месяц назад

      @@cjexplores But they've always done that at Rotorua ever since it was a tourist attraction. The soap products just create surface tension that causes the pressure to build up and then erupt. It would erupt anyway sooner or later, it would just be unpredictable.
      Did you know that there are cold water geysers in western Germany in the Eiffel region? They erupt due to carbon dioxide dissolved in the ground water. A natural process that does also have volcanic origins. In fact the Eiffel region is classified as dormant and not extinct. The volcanic region of central France, just west of Clermont-Ferrand, is also worth a visit.
