    No Bake Cherry Delight
This is an old recipe that mom got from a lady who she's known for years. She recently celebrated her 91st birthday I believe, so this recipe goes way back. It is a very easy dessert to throw together and your family will love it. Best of all, you can change the topping up to whatever kind of fruit you'd like. It is another simple and delicious recipe from mom. Let me know what you think about this version and y'all enjoy.

    Ingredients:
    Crust:
1 1/2 cup crushed graham cracker crumbs
1 1/4 stick of butter melted
Combine these and push into the bottom of a prepared 9x13 baking dish
Bake for 10 minutes at 350°F
Remove from oven and let cool before placing filling.
    Filling:
8 ounces Cream Cheese room temperature
    1/2 cup sugar
8 ounces Cool Whip 1 container (mom made whipped cream*)
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    2 cans cherry pie filling
Mix ingredients together (minus pie filling) with a hand mixer till well incorporated.
Spread evenly over the graham cracker crumbs.
Now spread the cherry pie filling over the cream cheese filling.
Refrigerate 2-3 hours (or overnight) before serving.
    *Whipped Cream:
    16 ounces heavy whipping cream
Blend with hand mixer or stand mixer till heavy peaks appear

So I decided to research this dessert by going to the best chefs in America, our Moms. And, that’s how I found this channel. This is a great base recipe, I use it with cherry, blueberry, peach, and strawberry pie filling, Try adding about 1/4 tsp of Almond extract per can of cherry pie filling, really brings out the flavor of the cherries., same amount only with lemon juice with the blueberries and add a little cinnamon in the filling with peach filling.

Cherry Delight is probably my favorite dessert. My recipe is from an older woman & friend in my home community years ago. She was expected to bring it for every church event & function. I treasure having Bonnie's recipe & when I was still blessed to be able to celebrate Christmas having my precious family I started making it every year for our Christmas meal. I made one change with the recipe using Chocolate Graham Crackers for the crust & I personally prefer & use Dream Whip instead of Cool Whip.

I love this recipe I switch off pie fillings on the top and it is definitely a family favorite in our family for most all holidays or get togethers. We had a really good wild black raspberry season here one year and my sister-in-law made a thickening basically a pie filling feeling and put it over the top with those and that has been my absolute favorite ever since. Only have had enough berries to make it two or three times that way. Pineapple pie filling was also a favorite of some of my coworkers when I was making this often to take to work they would actually request the pineapple. Kind of surprised me was not one of my favorites but they certainly loved it

    • @minniegibson8722

Would love this but I have not ever seen pineapple pie filling. Could you just use crushed pineapple?

    • @dianatennant4346
      @dianatennant4346 2 года назад +1

@@minniegibson8722 many I think you probably could just use pineapple. To make a pineapple pie filling all you would have to do would be to make a thickening with the juice with a little cornstarch heat it to boiling for the cornstarch to thicken it if you like things very sweet you might want to add a little sugar to it and maybe any spices that you would like in it,. Good luck with it, with the rest of this recipe you don't need much to garnish the top after you said just canned pineapple I immediately thought of just laying pineapple rings on top of there pretty kind of like a pineapple upside down cake and maybe putting some pretty cherries in the middle. Have fun I think you've got this

Thank you for sharing your Cherry Delight. I will make this for guests on a warm, sunny day.
One thing I want to do is, Im not too awful fond of cherries but love the red sauce.
So, I am going to blend the two cans to a thin pouring sauce. This way, I have the cherries & the sauce. I'll spread it like you did. Spread the cheese mix, I will set aside a cup & half of the cream cheese mix, place in a baggy, snip the tip off, then dollop mounds on top of the sauce, sprinkle with crushed Graham crackers. I will think of Gregs Mom, who was so patient in teaching me this delightful recipe. I will also remember your senior friend, who is 91, who shared this recipe, making it all the way to Montana. Hope to see you again dear with great recipes. 👍 KW MT. USA 🇺🇸 6-13-23
