She could have used, “that ship has sailed”. Meaning...it’s too late, that opportunity has passed or that situation is long over. Nothing you can do about it now.

I am just trying to level it up by imbibing the common phrasal verbs and idioms that you guys use. I would feel the teaching tediously lenthy if someone beats around the bush 😊
“Beat around the bush” comes from hunting small animals and birds that hide in bushes and the hunters, rather than go into the bushes to capture them, would beat on the outer edges of the bushes to chase the animals out. Takes a little longer.

When pigs fly = when roosters lay eggs (Iraqi idiom) We also use (Judge a book by its cover/A drop in the ocean / actions speak louder tha words) we use them for the same situation (Generally in Arabic) A good catch = a good catch 🤵 groom
