I worked in ogp for 2yrs! I finally quit 2weeks ago. They complain about the picks but don’t hire more people. Then when they do, the new hires goof off. The old crew that’s been there the longest get all the heat about it. I would definitely not recommend working at Walmart
It depends on which Walmart, not all of them are the same. Sounds like they need new management there. I was there for a year and was terminated due to points. I was sick and they don’t accept doctor’s notes, and I didn’t have enough time saved up being that I was only part time. I hope that you found something better with improved management and mature coworkers.
Proud to say this month will mark a year since I started working at OGP, sadly I’m quitting right after for other stuff but man those 2k picks to start the day on holidays are not fun
I felt the very understaffed our store hires people but for closing and we’re like we need more morning people 🙄 and let’s talk about how they burn us out like I got hurt on the job recently and they keep asking me when is the doctor gonna release me cause I’m 1 of their best dispensers and that’s how I got hurt while dispensing lol a whole bunch of totes that contained water fell on me and I injured my shoulder like I gotta make sure I didn’t damage a damn nerve or something they already told me I have a muscle spasm
Oh no! I hope your shoulder gets better. The doctor knows best, so they just have to wait until you’re released. I had a similar experience, but it was the heavy lifting above my head when staging totes. Walmart could have some compassion when it comes to us getting injured. And I’m happy that you’re taking care of yourself, your health comes first at the end of the day and Walmart should understand this. Take your time, and ignore them when they keep asking.
Wish we had black vests like you do.... I don't have time to answer questions please ask a cap2/replen/salesflor ta for help. not like they have time to do nothing
I tried Walmart for 2 years and they finally got back to me I go Monday .But they know it be under staff why not hire ppl .they be trying to act like target . I even got accepted at target before Walmart it was a fun job but management was horrible . Imma just mind my business in there and try not to worry about staff . I’m going to be doing the same ogp
Hey, sorry I’m late! How’s it going so far? I feel you on that, I’ve been trying for Walmart for 5 years lol. They hire who they want, and you have to know someone who works there and that person will refer you and then that’s when they’ll finally hire you. That’s what happened to me. And you’re right about that, they’re always understaffed but don’t want to hire. Management is a mess nowadays, it’s rare to have professional and courteous people. You have the right mindset, just go in and work and don’t pay those people any mind. Some people are only there for a high school do over but we’re there only for a check. You’ve got this. Keep me updated.
@@sleekcurlz you okay where I’m at it’s bad management and I already had another job I work at Home Depot for 19.50 my start pay and I make way more but I don’t like Walmart ppl messy and it’s just a no
This might be a dumb question but I was wondering do they hire for a specific part of ogp like just a picker or dispenser or do they make you do it all?
This is a good question! It all depends on the department. They’ll pick who they want to stay dispensing and who they want to stay picking. Or sometimes they’ll have you do both when it’s really busy and if a lot of people called out. For picking there’s two types depending on the store: groceries and sfs (shipping). Some Walmarts have packers there and you have to pick the items that have to be shipped. At the Walmart I work at, it’s mostly guys who dispense and it’s mostly women who pick. Hope this helps!
Hey. You place all of the totes into one of the holders and do one at a time, once you place one in there make sure you scan the location. It’s kinda hard to explain, but I can make a video on this as well and have it posted by tomorrow. Just let me know.
Applied since December and they still haven’t moved me up from applied lol. I went in person today and they said I should give them a call. Wish me luck!
i have a question, so do you have to do an entire walmart order yourself (like picking in all departments) or do you just do sections of an order, like if an order has items from various places (like frozen food, general merchandise, and chilled-for example) would you just get the frozen food items or would you have to collect items from all 3 departments? i hope i didn’t make my question sound confusing lol.
Hey. All of the picks are separated with everyone, and we have frozen, chilled, ambient, general, and oversized walks. Ambient is some items that can be stored without refrigeration ex: canned goods, chips, sauce, etc. We also have a produce ambient walk, where you pick fresh fruits, vegetables and bread in the produce section. However, when you have an oversized walk it sends you everywhere. You might have to pick a large pack of paper towels, 45 pound of dog food, or a 55 inch tv. You never know what you’re going to get in oversized lol. You only collect the items that’s appropriate for whichever walk you get. Your question wasn’t confusing at all, lol. Hope this helps!
It's complex...u woukd think shopping all day is fun . No defiantly not how I pictured it. My coach was a total see you next Tuesday and made me hate it more. I dispense stage and prep orders now.
This is probably a dumb question, but my orientation is tomorrow and I was wondering if I can bring any food, like for lunch? I'm a type 1 diabetic so I kinda need it lol
Congratulations on getting the job! And since it’s orientation they’re not going to have you work, you’ll be on the computer and going over paperwork with HR. But just in case, you should pack a lunch with you for sure. In the break room they have a freezer and a refrigerator for you to store your lunch in. Hope this helps ❤️
Yes you can wear shorts! I believe only if you’re a dispenser then it’s allowed. The shorts just have to touch your knees and they allow this in the summer time. I feel you, you should be able to wear comfortable clothes being that you’re stocking overnight and literally there’s no customers.
I just started and been working for only 3 days so far. I understand everything but need practice doing it. I feel this will come in reasonable time, however, I keep getting asked if I like the job. I find that to be an unusual question for only a few days on. I should mention I'm 65, but in excellent health. I feel I'm being singled out as old and assumptions are being made that I probably won't stay. Any thoughts?
Congratulations on getting the job! When I first started people asked me that too, I’m guessing they ask because sometimes it gets really busy. And wow 65! That’s great, I’m happy you’re in excellent health. I worked with a 64 year old woman who was also in great health and the job was smooth sailing for her, and I’m sure it’ll be for you too. I don’t want you to feel singled out, just ignore them. Don’t let them make you leave. It’s a great job to have and it’ll keep you moving.
Hey I just started working in Ogp and they had me staging. Hated it. I know I won’t like it will I have to do this position or can I request to do picking because that’s what I wanted to do when I applied
They only have you staging the whole shift? Usually dispensers stage and take out orders, so that’s odd. Is your Walmart very busy? That’s the only reason I can think of them having you only stage. I would ask to pick and they should have you picking soon being that it’s your position. Please keep me updated on this.

I'm there 3.5 years. I totally disagree. We always hire. Benefits are just fine.
