  • The Ukulele was introduced to Hawaii by the Portuguese, and it shares a close relative called the Cavaquinho that is commonly used in Brazilian music.
    The Ukulele is a versatile instrument that can beautifully complement Brazilian music. In this video, Jeff Peterson from Ukulele Corner will guide you through the process of playing Bossanova on your Ukulele. Jeff will demonstrate various techniques and highlight the nuances that define the Bossanova style. From mastering block chords and syncopated rhythms to learning a basic chord progression, this tutorial will help you become acquainted with the essence of Bossanova.

    Hello, Jeff. I had the pleasure of studying slack key guitar with you at Aloha Music Camp in 2011. Unfortunately, financial reasons have prevented my return to AMC, but I still love Hawaiian music (mostly I play it on steel guitar, thanks to Alan Akaka), and I’ve loved bossanova ever since it came out in the late 60’s. Thanks for this lesson!

    Thanks for the lesson! I love the bosa nova beat. I also love how easy you make it look! It's going to take me about a 100 hours (or more) but I'll get there!

    I love this style and the way you teach it. I have been a student at your academy for a year and left to pursue more jazzy style playing (for instance Christopher Davis-Shannon, James Hill) but if you were to include a bossa-nova module in your academy, I 'll be back! Greetings from the Netherlands, Celia

    I love this, thank you. Sometimes Bossa Nova chords can get pretty tricky. And advice for the left hand?

    • @UkuleleCorner
      @UkuleleCorner  Год назад +1

      I suggest learning your basic 7th chord inversions keeping your left hand fingers curved and as close to the fret wire as possible with the thumb typically in the middle of the neck behind the 2nd finger. Many other variations on chords are used but this is a good start.

    What is your uke tuned to in here I’m a beginner but the string that’s supposed to be the drum is not a low note

    Hey Jeff I was just wondering what you had your ukulele tuned to because yours sounds much lower then what mine sounds like

    • @UkuleleCorner
      @UkuleleCorner  3 месяца назад +2

      It is tuned t the low G GCEA tuning

  • @bungabongo

    Thank you for posting another inspiring video. Does a low G or re-entrant tuning on the uke sound better for this style of playing please?

    • @UkuleleCorner
      @UkuleleCorner  Год назад

      This is arranged for the linear or Low G tuning. Classical music can also be played using the High G tuning so both tunings can work well.
