this is so accurate. bkchat is washed now. there was so much potential and so much hype around it during bkchat ldn, but poor management and business decisions have caused it to die. bkchat was a good business idea, and was meant to be something for the culture - an opportunity to talk about bigger discussions and allow young people (especially first/second generation migrants/POC) to develop their mindset and become more "woke" about what is going on in the world. It could have allowed us as a community an opportunity to talk about and be conscious of things that need to be resolved, to be AWARE of our OWN toxic mentality and gain insight on other peoples P.O.V in particular situations. Hopefully, someone else picks up the same idea but is able to PROPERLY EXECUTE IT without fail. The bkchat producers/management should have reached out to people who have SUCCESSFULLY done platform TV/media or ANYONE that has a business mind and built it up slowly. And they should have analysed popular reality TV programs like love island, debate shows etc.( basically DO THEIR HOMEWORK ).... and actually format/edit their episodes with a similar formula. Every good business idea starts from the bottom, and you have to lose in order to gain. There is nothing wrong with supporting black businesses that provide a service, but if I don't pay to watch love island, why am I paying to watch 8 grown adults shout at eachother? I understand they need money in order to put out content but if they had stayed on YT a little longer, they could have gotten sponsorships, more clout and thought of other ways to get the same, if not more success/money. The bkchatuncensored content was not worth the price and the delivery being late, too condensed, delayed etc. just made it tacky and unprofessional. It was just poor management. The downfall of bkchat began when the creators specifically Andy became so arrogant and cocky, he thought he could do no wrong. Instead of listening to his audience, he became too fixed on making money and doing his own thing, it backfired right on his face. It’s going to take a lot for bkchat to revive its viewership, but I doubt that is going to happen, unfortunately people are just not interested anymore. Overall bkchat was such an amazing discovery, and it’s a shame that the hype of the show has significantly declined.
Luvlimiss2005 He managed to make short term quick money from the first couple of episodes from season 4, but in the long run nobody cares about the show anymore, so was it really worth it? Slow and steady always wins the race. He would’ve made more money long term listening to his audience and building a serious strong fan base, trust me.
Too short sighted. They had the “get the bag” mentality and ignored the bigger picture. & when it inevitably failed, they blamed it on black people not wanting to support black businesses. I agree. The concept of having panel discussions isn’t a new nor creative ide, but bkchat had the perfect line up which made this project successful. Taking it worldwide was never going to work because it’s rare to cast a group of such vibrant personalities like the London crew.
Instead of taking the time to BUILD a proper UK Brand, They went ahead as soon as they got a little dose of success and branched out. The idea of expansion is not bad but it has to come at the right time and with the right strategy. Please content creators, LISTEN TO YOUR AUDIENCE. Not everybody can become Mona Scott Young overnight...Thanks for this doc.
Honestly, I don’t want any more bkchat episodes. They let it crash and burn by not listening to their audience. In my opinion, the original magic is gone. Needless to say, I’m sure (because they, again, don’t listen to their viewers ) we’ll get a bkchat LA soon that no one wants..

I feel like them asking for money wasn’t that bad. They traveled to Cyprus, increased video quality and audio. It was cute and I was happy for the season pass as opposed to the 99 for each. (I’m from the US, so the conversion would charge bare fees.) But when the episodes had ridiculous debate topics and the episodes started dropping DAYS later than announced it became disrespectful AS A PAID SERVICE. All I’m saying is: IF YOU WANTED US TO UPGRADE AS VIEWERS AND PAY, THEY SHOULD HAVE UPGRADED THEMSELVES AS A SERVICE.

You have to accept if people are watching it for free on youtube they might not want to start paying just to hear an hour of shouting. Would have been nice to see more UK cities some more Caribbean cast members..... I think they could potentially revive bkchat, but they would need to go back to grass roots. Start back in the kitchen and put it on RUclips. The rawness is what kept the audience engaged. Maybe try expanding it again a few seasons down the line.... making better decisions. Although I’m pretty sure this won’t happen!
I feel like BKChat got greedy, and thought more about money than anything with season 4. They’re trying too hard to be like other reality TV shows (e.g. Love Island). I first loved BKChat for its authenticity and it seems with all these changes they’ve lost that. Personally, all I wanted to see was a bunch of Londoners debate topics that aren’t spoken about enough within the Black British diaspora. One change they could’ve made was to add a mediator to the debates to redirect the conversation to the topic in question. Love you Murad 💖
The chats were so uninteresting by the last season, that I know I wasn’t interested in paying for it. The only thing about it being able to view it on RUclips is that you can view & see if you’re interested without feeling a type of way. But it was just too much going on at once, as far as the expansion, audio issues, irrelevant topics, etc.
Teir biggest downfall was not listening to their audience. We made it clear time and time again what we want and dont want but they do whatever anyways. On top of that they are sooooooo inconsistent to the point we couldn't even look forward to the show on a specific day. It's clearly alot of their decisions we money driven but this bit them in the ass because they failed to realize their audience IS their money. We were their biggest form of free promotion and they blew it .
I think they really struggled to convert their views into cash. Film making is hard work and a lot goes into it but followers and viewd doesn't alwsys equal money. Shame they couldn't partner with businesses to get their money up.

BkChat became a group of people ganging up on one person. Lost respect on that, because the producers seemed to like the concept of everyone ganging up on Nunu just for views basically.
I think the piracy issues contributed greatly towards the failure of season 4 as well. I think after the episodes kept getting ripped and put on bkworldtube. They lost motivation and stopped caring or trying in the end.
Latest season with the pay wall killed it. They could have shown half the episode on youtube, and then link you to the paid content. They didn't tease you enough to want to got pay. I didn't even know it was behind a pay wall, I just thought they were late dropping episodes.

your video made sense still, you raised a very good point in if BKCHAT focused on expanding in UK rather than America would have made a lot more sense. If they were to ever do a comeback, they should go back to basics and target different cities.

I definitely think they can get back up if they return back to how it used to be....in the UK and FREE! The cast doesn't necessarily have to be the same, obviously the key characters will have a bit of weight to the viewership and its always nice to see a few new faces. Not going to lie, the old BKCHAT has actually left a void in my life!!! I really looked forward to coming home and watching another episode with my wife. A lot of the topics were great talking points, there was a level of entertainment to go with it too. I can relate to all, if not most of the cast. For me, it was the best thing on youtube! I am patiently waiting for it to go back to how it used to be! #BringBKChatLDNBack

The bkchatuncensored content was not worth the price and the delivery being late, too condensed, delayed etc. just made it tacky and unprofessional. It was just poor management. At the end of the day, people looking to start something similar in the media eye, can use Bkchat as an example of what not to do. I think they could potentially revive bkchat, but they would need to go back to grass roots. Start back in the kitchen and put it on RUclips. The rawness is what kept the audience engaged. Maybe try expanding it again a few seasons down the line.... making better decisions. Although I’m pretty sure this won’t happen!

I feel like BKChat got greedy, and thought more about money than anything with season 4. They’re trying too hard to be like other reality TV shows (e.g. Love Island). I first loved BKChat for its authenticity and it seems with all these changes they’ve lost that. Personally, all I wanted to see was a bunch of Londoners debate topics that aren’t spoken about enough within the Black British diaspora. One change they could’ve made was to add a mediator to the debates to redirect the conversation to the topic in question. Love you Murad 💖

The chats were so uninteresting by the last season, that I know I wasn’t interested in paying for it. The only thing about it being able to view it on RUclips is that you can view & see if you’re interested without feeling a type of way. But it was just too much going on at once, as far as the expansion, audio issues, irrelevant topics, etc.

Teir biggest downfall was not listening to their audience. We made it clear time and time again what we want and dont want but they do whatever anyways. On top of that they are sooooooo inconsistent to the point we couldn't even look forward to the show on a specific day. It's clearly alot of their decisions we money driven but this bit them in the ass because they failed to realize their audience IS their money. We were their biggest form of free promotion and they blew it .
I think they really struggled to convert their views into cash. Film making is hard work and a lot goes into it but followers and viewd doesn't alwsys equal money. Shame they couldn't partner with businesses to get their money up.

I think the piracy issues contributed greatly towards the failure of season 4 as well. I think after the episodes kept getting ripped and put on bkworldtube. They lost motivation and stopped caring or trying in the end.

Latest season with the pay wall killed it. They could have shown half the episode on youtube, and then link you to the paid content. They didn't tease you enough to want to got pay. I didn't even know it was behind a pay wall, I just thought they were late dropping episodes.

I honestly stopped watching because they continued down the big bully route! This to me is always where reality shows flop and fail. People aren’t always going to agree and drama doesn’t have to be forced half the time. that’s how the foolery becomes overdone and irreversible.

But for real though, the only thing consistent about BkChat is their inconsistencies.
They never listened to their audience. Again and again listening to their pockets or whatever it may be....
season 4 was actually not bad but it didn't garner the Twitter TL hype it had back in season 1. It was actually the Season 1 twitter hype that got me to watch it. I didnt enjoy Season 4 as much because of the lack of engagement on other social platforms. I missed people raving about it on the TL. Wasn't a shared experience like before.
They flopped maaaan, I wonder how they'll fight back now... I wish them well.

The blatant bullying and apparent "cliques" destroyed bkchat for me. Glad to find out Omar left. He offered no depth to any of the discussions and his antagonist behaviour to Adrian and NuNu was horrible and extremely juvenile.

I definitely think they can get back up if they return back to how it used to be....in the UK and FREE! The cast doesn't necessarily have to be the same, obviously the key characters will have a bit of weight to the viewership and its always nice to see a few new faces. Not going to lie, the old BKCHAT has actually left a void in my life!!! I really looked forward to coming home and watching another episode with my wife. A lot of the topics were great talking points, there was a level of entertainment to go with it too. I can relate to all, if not most of the cast. For me, it was the best thing on youtube! I am patiently waiting for it to go back to how it used to be! #BringBKChatLDNBack

You’re right with that listen to your viewers man. I dunno if they should have started that paying thing. They should have probably just kept that rawness to it. Maybe it seemed a bit too set up and stuff but sometimes you gotta progress so maybe that was a way of testing progression and ideas. Anyway that rawness from season 1&2 was due a comeback
