Having an EEPROM programmer is a nice thing to have. I have and use a few programmers. My newest one is the TS866CS, which will do some of the older roms. I also have an older and newer Willem programmer, and my old Needham EMP-10 (needs working on) I do have a SOFI SP8 for serial flash chips. The TS866 has Linux support with David Griffith's wonderful minipro command-line utility. You can also test some 40 and 74 series CMOS/TLL logic chips with the command line or the official app.
Yeah. It's one of those things that once you have it, you find more uses for it. I'm working on an adapter that will let it do some of the higher voltage chips in the cheap one
When he say's it's a dip, it means dual in-line package, which is dual parallel rows of pins, his pinout had 28 pins. so a 28 pin DIP is pretty common.
I looked at that one. I realized I can't bring up the software of mine to see if it supports the GAL16v8. Either way, I know I'm going to run across things that mine doesn't support. Still a handy little device though.
Oddly, have never found that I gotta have an EEPROM programmer. May be nice for updating the BIOS on old motherboards though. You probably have the QFP to DIP adapters for newer stuff.
I haven't had that issue. I just installed it a month ago when I built my new machine. I don't see any preference options to change fonts. I'm using xgpro 12.32
Hello again AM: Thank you for response: Sorry bit out of my depth Checked out ALI for TL866II got instantly referred to T48 XGecu as replacement TL866 no longer supported ?? Great price 39 USD ?? I dont compare like for like ?. May I ask your advice again please if this device is suitable just for my eproms M27C801 80f MS O ( PS I am in UK London but hey ).
Hi I'm trying to program a 93c56 for my toyota. I bought a t48 on Amazon which is suppose to replace this older unit but it doesn't seem to work even after trying 3 different functional 93c56 eeproms in it. Should I purchase a t56 in your opinion or look into one of these older tl866ii plus that appear to be duplicates of the original?
You could really go either way but I think if you could find a good 866, I would do that. I would even consider getting it from a place where you could return it
I think the XGPro software only works with Xgeco burners. I have 2 different models and they both use the same software. The burner needs to be plugged in when you start the program or it works in demo mode. So the software is free, but the hardware isn't.
I have a question or two about the TL866. I am trying to program several AM2716 EPROMS. I can not do that, even though I can select it, in my XGPro software. The problem is it requires a 25VPP when programming and the TL866 only goes up to 18VPP. So, I was wondering what the small provided jumper wire cable is used for. Can I add an external 9V power supply to this? I am looking at the T56 as it does seem to be able to produce the needed 25VPP. Is there anyway to get me TL866II Plus to program these EPROMS???
There are a few little tricks to burn the higher voltages. I wanted to make a pcb adapter to do it but you really don't need one. This video from one of my favorite retro youtubers shows you the trick. ruclips.net/video/VwxCpSt-3RQ/видео.html
@@AnotherMaker Thank you, I did watch this video. I have also ordered the upgraded T48, which writes up to 25VPP. At half the price of the T56. Hopefully I should have it here, by the end of the week. I have about 20 @ 2716's that I need to write for a friend and I did not want to bend the pins on them.
@@AnotherMaker thanks for the reply, I noticed BIOS chip on hp 6930p always get read and write error. I'm currently using rt809f and want to get another one since I've been using it for over 3 years and it is failing.
Hello emptied dads garage Boxes and boxes of Eproms In original packaging :ST M27C80180F chips Thought might put on ebay, BUT need to check if they are blank Is there any other way apart from buying a whole programmer to do this ? Or will this device you are looking at do it ? Grateful advice Not daft with tech things : Ms O.
That's really fun. I think this device is basically your best bet. You may be able to do some of it with an Arduino or something like that but if you don't want to come up with a creative solution, this is probably the best way to do it.
@@AnotherMaker It works a treat . Didnt take too long to arrive direct either about 10 days . They are insisting the TL 866 is now obsolete in favour of this T48. Hell of a price.
I come across this sort of thing from time to time, some AV (including Sophos) see things as hacking tools. This is exactly what we are doing in some cases.
Just picked one up for automotive tuning, very informative video!
Glad it was helpful! I love this thing. I have the more expensive one, but I find myself using this one the most.
I used mine to edit the eeprom on my multimeter to change it from 4000 counts to 8000 counts. Very cool device! 👍
That's very cool. Which meter?
@@AnotherMaker it was a victor vc 921 pocket meter. I did a video on it about 4 years ago on my channel.

Does the program work on Mac
Thank you for sharing now i have an idea how to use it.

Can programing nand and emmc?
WOW-WOW-WOW !!! DX486 ? I want it 😍🤩
Where did you find the driver/pilot for this ?
I have a GQ-4X4. Supports AtTiny fuses, many EEPROMs and 27C400 with an adapter (Amiga ROMs).
Doesn't support the GAL16V8 I needed though.

Hello. For automotive eeprom's reading, do you recommend this programmer tool?
That's actually my next video. I recommend the T48 ruclips.net/video/42VCmOVWAyc/видео.html
Hello , thanks for the nice show but can we adapt TL866II+ to read or program STM32 microcontroller
I actually believe it can with a chip adapter. They made adapters for all the square chips
Installing this on my Windows 10 machine the fonts are completely unreadable have you seen this issue?

Do you have one for the t48
I don't, but I may have to buy one and test it out. I have a few friends that have them and seem to love them
So can buy T56 to do all what 866plue do and more i need program EEPROM and EPROM?!??
Yes or the t48 to save some money
@@AnotherMaker yes i need 56pin for big eprom thanks man

That one is great too. You may also be able to get a similar one faster from Amazon in the UK
Can I take a 12yr old motherboard that has 16 USB2 ports. Update it to accept USB3.0 ports. Hen swap out USB ports?
You would need a usb3 add in card
