    Good to see Upmarket still going strong. Lots of great food in the area, but not the curry houses, I prefer "desi" Indian food rather than British Indian.

      Desi just means 'local' or 'home made'

      Southall and Tooting are a better bet...I haven't been to Brick Lane for a curry in 20 years so i can't comment, but I wasn't a fan back then.

      correct. It's also used loosely to differentiate between traditional/authentic Indian cuisine and British Indian cuisine. @@annother3350

      Southall is amazing, and Harrow. Birmingham and Leicester have excellent food if you know where to go. I'm not a fan of BIR so like you avoid Brick Lane @@zivkovicable
