Great skit! In fact the 4 Questions that were asked of the Tamil asylum-seekers excluded asking if they were seeking asylum. The 4 Questions are:
Name? Date of Birth? Citizenship? Preferred Language?
We don't ask if they're seeking asylum.
Because that would mean we have to assess their claim for asylum.

Right but it is the rigorous way these questions are asked, Peter. I mean you can ask people all sorts of questions but it is the process that is rigorous. I mean the officers are trained to ask these questions in a most rigorous tone of voice. More than that Peter. these same questions are posed to every single one of them. Most rigorously.

"And is it rigorous, very rigorous or extremely rigorous?"
"Well there are four questions, Brian, so I'm going to say it is extremely rigorous."
    "Correct."
"Four very, very. Each of the questions would be rigorous, although two of them, of course, would be "what's your name?" and "why do you want to seek asylum in another country?". It must be. The rigour must be in the other two questions though. Those other two questions must be deadly Brian."
"Yes, I'm sure they're excellent questions. The other two is where the rigour must be."
"It must be Brian, cause no one's getting through."
    "Correct."

Actually the reason why you guys can enjoy well padded welfare state is because you can dig your wealth easily from the ground and second because your population is relatively low. More immigrants WILL put a strain on your unrealistic welfare programs and will eventually crash your economy - the problem isn't immigration but the cushy welfare system that you guys will have to give up so that you can welcome more people into your vast land and attract hard working people, not people who are expecting the same handouts you get

Nice comment. Pity the issue being satirised is people seeking political asylum.

NoName NoFame our welfare system is not all that cushy compared to other developed countries. It is sustainable.

No welfare system is sustainable without the appropriate income and taxation of the people supporting the leeches. Just look at Detroit, was perfectly sustainable when they had a large industrial capacity, but now with the factories off the whole city went bankrupt. Same thing is happening across the EU, which is why Germany is the one fitting the bill right now.
Socialism has proven itself time and time again to not work out well for the country that adopts it.

Birdy890 well of course it isn't sustainable without taxation, but the majority of those on social security are not leeches. It's hard to take you seriously with pejoratives like that.
You pick out Detroit specifically yet is Michigan or the U.S. as a whole in such a dire situation? You point out one city of the 100's in the U.S. as the signifier that the system doesn't work while ignoring the rest that work (reasonably) well.
Plenty of western free-market democracies have policies with socialist tendencies. I dare you to prove Australia's Medicare system, welfare systems etc, which all are socialist in nature, are not working well.
