But 1st, let's enjoy the revival of this series with the 2025 首都高バトル (Tokyo Xtreme Racer), so there will be more sequels from them or even the console release like PS5.
This game is an instant first day purchase for me, I never even thought in my life time I would ever see this series being revived Welcome back, Genki, I've waited long enough
Now, this is a kind of racing game that we really need! I can't wait to see the gameplay from Genki's official RUclips channel or both 首都高バトル & Tokyo Xtreme Racer official X/Twitter accounts.
me too, I'd never even thought this series ever gonna came back, much less having it stick to it's old tried-and-true formula of being a single player only game in the time when live service games are your only option to even made a racing game unlike that other open world racing game set in Hong Kong whose sold out it's soul and turned into another pointless live service nahnsense that's just getting an half hearted Ibiza update in desperate attempt to recoup their losses after releasing it and also that godawful new MXGP game
I kinda wished you talked to Genki when it came to their canceled Fast and Furious game project. I know it's been a while for them but I really want to know why it was canceled.
i'v never understood the whole glamour of unreleased games, the game didnt get made. Talking about it now wont change anything about it. Personally i think the fast and furious game was cancelled becasue of genki not having the available resources to make it happen. The trailers and gameplay that exists of it all look absolutely dreadful, like you can tell that the TXR engine wasent a good fit for the type of game they were intending to make.
@@insector2093 no doubt it’s just interesting to think about. I lowkey feel like another reason why it wasn’t a hit was because Genki might not have been a fan of the fast and furious franchise
I played Tokyo Extreme Racer 3 for the first time in 2020 during the lockdown and fell in love. I've beat it 4 times since and wished I had it as a kid. I'm so hyped for a new one I hope it's coming to Xbox.
@@metaliczic96 Because while JDM cars are cool, I'd like to see a bit more variety. You know, similar to that of Forza Horizon, Need for Speed, The Crew, or Midnight Club? Midnight Club 3 Remix seems to be one of the few only arcade racers set in Japan that's available on home platforms that also feature cars from outside of Japan as it features models from Chevrolet. Not only that, but you rarely see any Japanese cars with V8 engines outside of higher end Lexus models. I would like to race on the Tokyo highway with a V8 car for once. People have done so in real life. Am I really expected to play Forza Horizon, Need for Speed, or The Crew just to have access to cars from European countries or the United States?
@rabbidcrazy787 Unfortunately, those are the only choices either you like it or not. But foreign cars in 首都高バトル (Tokyo Xtreme Racer) will be implemented, but not at this game yet. Maybe the next sequel titles (if the game sales pretty well).
@metaliczic96 I'm not waiting for no sequel. I'll be 30 by the time that happens. Can't they at least add it to the game at a later update? Maybe do an all-American muscle car content update or DLC? I thought the point of reviving the series is to make it better than TXR3, not be worse than it. Is it too much to ask to have a game where I can race around Japan in a European performance car or an American muscle car? You do realize they do exist in Japan, right?
They have my support. So looking forward to the new one. First discovered this series in 1999 on the Dreamcast lol. Loved it ever since. Such a simple concept, but so addictive to play. It makes my tuner heart happy. Cmon DEVS make it great! Can't wait!
I have been hoping this game would be backwards compatible for years now on PS5. So glad it’s coming back. I will buy this game as soon as it’s available for purchase.
Well, It's sounds like its gonna be a simcade, which is ok. Yet, they have some big shoes to fill now that SRP is around. Unless people from SRP are helping with Genki.
I have one more question. Did you happen to see any notable cars that weren't in the OG games? Not necessarily looking for newer cars but just curious if you seen anything outside of typical cars that were driving around on txr3
@ that’s dope. Drift 2 is the spin off that i have the most hours in (imo it’s their best game). I hope there’s more unique cars from that roster in this game. I love drift 2 so much, I’m grabbing my steam deck to play some more rn
Please just take my money already. TXRZ was my first PlayStation two game my dad bought for me and I still play it today. The possibilities of what this game could be today. A day and night cycle, a weather cycle, online multiplayer With the ability to raise your friends or maybe even create your own gang along with creating your own emblem sticker. For the single player side of things it would be nice if highway exit/entrances would be implemented so that you can change from going CW to CCW or northbound to southbound on highways so that you don’t have to return to the garage and advance a day just to get to the other side of the highway.
I doubt this is hard to run on PC but I hope the playstation guys get a chance with a port at some time. A LOT of people in the trailer comments really want it on console
Japanese are pretty hit & miss when it comes to PC ports, for every Elden Ring, Nier Automata & Dark Souls, you also get MGS5, modern Yakuzas & Ace Combat 7 & Assault Horizon that's reportedly runs surprising well on even toasters, relatively speaking
@@adlibbed2138 yea i agree. Sometimes they’re very easy to run sometimes they absolutely suck (square enix pc ports). I trust this though, it was running really smooth
First day purchase for me. I've been wanting this for years. There's almost no good street racing games anymore, especially ones you can modify your car in performance and looks.
Wanted asked question will develop will be backed like TXR 3 travel asian country like Nagoya,Osaka and Tokyo race against new rival in new TXR only Tokyo just wanted asked
Online gameplay can be the best thing for Tokyo Extreme Racer, also ive been playing it since the Dreamcast releases 1999-2000,they need to include engine swaps and classic japanese cars also 80s cars like Rx7s and (AE 86) and the 2 door (KE 70) (E30/E50) .
maybe I'm just growing cynical with gaming these days, but online to me these days meaning they can put whatever anti-c_ns_mer mechanism they can such as micro transactions, gambling, season passes, whatever bs they can possibly nickel & diming on in my eyes and it's also why games these days are having this "always online" nonsense or else no game for you like wtf happened to the latest Test Drive Unlimited, which I'm more than glad Genki is sticking to their katanas and making the game wholly single player focused
Nowadays, racing games are i don't know how to describe it. They have realistic graphics, but the gameplay is su*k (not all of them). I hope that Genki, with the revival of the legendary 首都高バトル (Tokyo Xtreme Racer) series with their new 2025 game, will ignite this kind of genre.
@CraptasticJack Yeah. I hope so. I really hope that this game is so successful so they can build a solid foundation for the future titles of this series.
yep, coupled with them we're all turned into always online live service hellscapes which foregone any & all semblance of fun and making them always online or added contents online only
Next evolution? Online free roam lobbies alongside a single player. Maybe even Custom online teams and clans. Or drift and highway maps in one big game. Who knows, Forza Horizon only scratches the surface.
From what they've told me, they are jet set on creating a great foundation for the return of the TXR series. Then they want to build upon that solid foundation with community recommendations.
too bad the licenses for European & American cars are pain & likely out of reach especially for an outsourcing game company like Genki source : the other guy whose asking questions about this game
@adlibbed2138 Why would it only be a pain for European & American ones? That makes no sense. Bandai Namco was able to do it just fine for Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 6. There's no excuses. Plus, we had non-Japanese cars in TXR3. Why is it so rare for arcade racers set in Japan to feature non-Japanese cars? The only other game I know of that's like that is Midnight Club 3 Remix.
@@rabbidcrazy787they're basically did a GSC move by publishing this game all by themselves, meaning they hardly have any funds to negotiate licensing deals doesn't help that these foregin brands we're also as expensive as having some semblance of voice overs in games if you're in their position
They are still adding licensed tuning companies, so the possibility of Honda being in the game is still out there. But it is all about the licensing and it would more likely be Honda not wanting to be in the game and not TXR excluding them.
due to their inability to making online mode this wouldn't be the case unfortunately I'm actually thankful they didn't went full Solar Clown route by turning the game into another always online slop

I doubt they would be able to answer it as the current genki team is different from the team 20 years ago

Tokyo Xtreme Racer 3 will probably still be better if the new installment doesn't bring back foreign cars.

I have one more question. Did you happen to see any notable cars that weren't in the OG games? Not necessarily looking for newer cars but just curious if you seen anything outside of typical cars that were driving around on txr3
The one that caught my eye was the Cappuccino and some Suzuki Kei cars.
