The entire final of the 2013 WDSF World DanceSport Championship Latin that was danced on 30 November at the Max-Schmeling-Hall in Berlin, GER. The recording is courtesy of the German DanceSport Federation DTV.

2013 Berlin WDSF Latin Championships.....9 yrs ago....I actually liked Timur/Ekaterina at that time...Balan/Nina have just completed their German citizenship formalities...Vornov was passionate enough....and so were too Nino, Gabriele, Charles etc....all those of them were young and ambitious....back then...!! And on the Blackpool pro front...Slavik had already been retired...Malitowsky, Ricardo became the new big names...and Franco, Sergey, Scufca were preparing for the retirements and Stefano and others were on the rise...!!
Italian girl had the beat, like she was parting on the floor
and in my opinion Russian team deserved a better place.

Kristina and Nino ! Just the best ! Also : they proved that sometimes less is more ...even in choreography . But it showcased their amazing musicality .

I guess at Zaytsev and Elizaveta's first competition she did look not as in control as Anna- and Martino and Michelle have been dancing together for a while so look very together and clean. Still Andrey's dancing is amazing :)

Absolutely wonderful dancing. I don't like when during the solo demonstration, U have 2 hear the SAME SONG over & over again. They R professionals, There is no advantage or disadvantages 2 dancing 2 different songs....

i was watching it live and for me personally I had a very different ranking: 1. Ger 37, 2. Rus 72, 3. DK 23, 4. Mol 59, 5. Ita 45, 6. maybe the French guy with another girl.
I hadn't seen any of the couples before ever, but I used to be competition dancer myself and obiviously I am stuck with my taste in the late 90's. I really don't get ourdays way of dancing latin. Especially many of the ladies in the final have no feel, no inner body rhythm, no elegance and are dancing musically uninspired. Being quick seems to be the only measure. Simply boring and sometimes really unattractive. Moreover, most of the guys danced as if the girls are a disturbing necessacity and put themselfes in limelight instead of letting the girl get the glory. Pure narzism of the guys. That's why I put 37 in first place because he gave her room to present her elegant and sophisticated style. This was the only real couple on the floor. Did not agree on the French lady (very often slghtly to fast rhytmitcally) and couple 73. He did nothing but pose - especially in the Rumba and she had no energy and flair. I would have preferred the Danish couple in the final. Louise is extraordinary. IMO Latin dancing is going in the wrong direction. Too athletic and no more elegance. Had not been characteristic of dance the first or second criteria ? There was not much of it left, especially in Cha Cha Cha and Rumba. Sorry
Sorry but the German couple is stuck in the 90's. Very old style, she is terrible, no elegance and almost never keeps her balance. She's lacking technical skills as well, almost no hip movements and her back doesn't move well either. Yes definetely bad semi-final german Masters gala from the 90's....this is what she reminds me of.
Ekaterina and Timur were great but too bad they split...
I strongly disagree with you. Nina is not terrible, I find her incredibly elegant (especially in comparison to some of these bullfighter ladies) and her internal rhythm is incredible, her core produces very musical movement, and I love her use of weight transfer from foot to foot.
Who to you is a strong lady?
Levente Lakner Well, we'll have to agree to disagree:) I just don't see any elegance or style in her but more troubling is the lack of basic technical skills. Anyway, just my opinion I guess. Ekaterina I love but she's so gorgeous that I am probably mesmerized by her pretty eyes:) Svetlana Gudyno and Anastasia Balaeva are my favorite ladies and couples for that matter. BTW, the guys are so much better then the girls that they can berely keep up with them. Svetlana is up there with Armen and Anastasia is almost keeping up with Kiselev. Ana Matus is good and attractive but misses elegance at times. Kristina's dancing sometimes is so exaggerated that it's almost comical. She looked better last year when she was impersonating Carmen.
Don't think the German couple should have made the podium or finals. They are stuck in the 90's. She's more about posing and she almost falls over at every competition. She has not much hip movement and poor balance. His spins are slow and awkward. Don't know if it's the choreography or not but he always looks like he doesn't know what she's going to do and he's catching up.

Bias judging start from the Video Its all focused on Partner where is Italy. Many would notice that the exposure the camera angle from that couple (ITALY) seems they are already the champion.. Just look back the video and you all notice that..

Cant get why Charles and Elena were judged for the final. Dont see any improvement whatsoever in their robot-like moves with no bounce. There were far better couples in the semifinal like Umberto & Louise.
Robot? You must be kidding!! Have u watched them live? they are the most fluid in the body with great connection! Umberto is not as good as louise, imbalance in partnership- Ask top dancers, all of them would say the same about them! Thats the problem!
you must be joking. charles and elena are very fluid in both quality of movement and connection. umbeerto and louise are great but not enough to be finalists.
Charles end elena should have won the whole thing. They have great partnering, artistry and correct technique. I Dont get how their always placed lower than Anna/Gabriele, armen/svetlana, both of whom are absolutely awful.
Charles is fantastic. I think Elena is not quite up to par with Charles, in my opinion. It was even between 1st and 2nd place, both couples are fantastic.
Am I the only one that was thrown off with Khrystyna's complete change of hair color??

It's funny how some of the world's best couples are not allowed to participate. Armen and Svetlana and Kiselev are far better than most of the couples on the final. The German couple should've not been on the final.....but they gave them 3rd place!!! Timur and Ekaterina were far superior and should've been placed at least 3rd. Also, if anyone looked at the judges scores Ralf Muller gave Balan 1st place on every single dance.....come on I know he's german but he couldn't be more bias....just a joke.

Ralf Muller is a former world amateur latin champion and trains some of the best amateur couples (including the former Zaitsev and Kuzminskaja) many of the other judges on that panel cannot make the same claim. What you say about the German couple and more importantly about the Russian Timur and Ekaterina makes me believe you mainly watch the dancers as individuals as opposed to a whole partnership.
The partnership of Timur and Ekaterina is almost more one sided and about solo dancing than that of Goffredo and Matus, Ekaterina is such a generic Russian girl, brings nothing new or interesting to the table and isn't so technically amazing like Kuzminskaja that you can excuse her being so ordinary. Timur is a very strong man, but these days he no longer bothers trying to frame his weaker partner and so the partnership has lost much of what made them worth looking at in years past.
Don't take it personally....I just shared my opinion. Relax! I haven't said anything about Kuzminskaja.....I like her a lot actually. Reminds me of Olga Muller who btw is my all time favorite female dancer. Now we can't say that about Ralf Muller who thanks to Olga became world champion. Ekaterina is gorgeous and I adore her. The German couple sucks and that's it. Just bad 90's couple.
I was mentioning Kuzminskaja because she was trained by Muller, to show that he was still relevant to latin dancing - unlike some previous latin champions who have not been able to translate their championship skills to championship teaching.
Being gorgeous and being a good dancer are two very different things, Ekaterina is neither to me but that is irrelevant. The German couple does not suck nor do they resemble the latin dancing in the 90's much at all - speaking of which how much have you seen in order to make this comparison? The one couple Ralf and Olga?
I've seen a lot of 90's dancing. I guess different taste levels here. Enjoy the Germans and I'll enjoy the good dancers. Happy Holidays!
73 is dancing by himself his partner could hardly keep up. He's too much. 37 does the same at times.
