so excited for you two to get things going. One of the best ways to learn is to watch other RUclipsrs that have done the same thing you are doing now to get ideas. Good luck in your build and looking forward to see how it turns out.
Larry Hurst Thank you so much! We've watch tons of others videos. But at the same time we kinda want to try and figure it out on our own for ourselves and better contact. Thanks for the positive words!
Wider? Don't be silly. I can make many of my turns while in the same lane and I drive a 39'' long and 14' 6" high bus all day. This bus only needs more care on the tail swing.
I don't drive a bus but whenever I was on the bus. I would pay more attention to what the driver did like brakes and starting the bus. Everytime you Start that bus MAKE SURE IT IS IN NEUTRAL! The parking brake stops the bus. Make sure you leave the bus in neutral when you turn it off. The Bus only starts in Neutral. It's basically a safety switch so the bus won't roll.
If she drove school bus as a job, All the boys would fight over who was going to set up front, in stead of who's going to set in the back...LOL,LOL... Seeing your empty bus brought back a lot of memories of when we first got ours back in 1984...LOL...
That bang you heard is the pressure relief valve bleeding off excess air pressure for the air brakes, perfectly normal. The engine driven air compressor runs constantly, and pressure is maintained at about 125 psi. Excess is vented from the automatic relief valve periodically.
These kids have a lot to learn about driving that bus, they were driving all on mostly large roads. The girl hit the curb which says she doesn't know how to judge the bus while turning. Which is fine, everyone needs to learn, I think they should of done some more research on how to operate a bus before they drove it. They should of known to put it in neutral and set the parking brake. Never leave a vehicle in drive and set the parking brake then leave the controls of the vehicle. If the brake fails while the engine is running you could have a run a way vehicle which is very dangerous. I'm sure they will be fine, but I hope they do some more research and practicing on quiet roads. Best of luck to you guys. Also when starting a diesel engine, wait for the guages to go back and forth and the lights to go out, the glow plugs need to heat up first, and im not a diesel expert, but I believe some have air intake heaters that need to warm up too for cold starts. Don't quote me on that part though.
Looks like she was made to be a bus driver. Always put the bus in neutral before setting the parking brake. Make sure the parking brake is engaged before you shut the bus off. If they were air brakes you would know due to the air. Good luck on the conversion, I'm planning on doing this when I'm older.
dont try ti=o start it right away turn the key on and wait for the engine light to go out and for the gauges to reset the bus has glowplugs u can damage them just starting it up like that
Cool. In Australia you need a truck licence to drive something that big. I have a Leyland Tiger 32 feet Mid Mount Flat Six Diesel With Semi Auto. Buses Are Generally Geared Low For Metro So You Will Likely Only Get 50~60 Mph On The Highway Depending On The Rig. Remember To Let Trucks Pass As They Are On The Clock. Have Fun!
You get used to driving one of these very quickly, just have to keep in mind that the vehicle is a lot longer. I had a friend that was a bus driver and he let me drive a couple rounds in his bus and we took it onto the motorway for a spin and found it surprising it was a lot easier than I thought. Its no worse than switching sides of the road and getting used to it between the UK and crossing the English Channel into mainland Europe.
I've been looking for a medium sized school bus (30 passenger) for the past couple days that is about $3000 or less to turn a bus into a skoolie and travel the U.S. with friends. Is this a medium size or large size school bus?
Just something else to get used to, I guess. At least air brakes can't run out of fluid...lol BTW, I had the "no starting and alarm" like you did on Sunday. Went through the entire bus turned out to be a lock I locked on the emergency door? Huh? LOL It'll all become second nature, I'm sure. I felt the same you two just did, first time I drove it... "oh, easier than I thought, Like a big car." ... Have fun!:)~
Lol, i have the feeling every woman says this when driving a big vehicle. ''I feel powerful, it feels like nobody will ever mess with me and i can just plow through'' My gf has the same idea, need big vehicle to bully the other road users into submission and plow through your enemies xd. Maybe that's why women like big suv's with bullbars.
Mason Kanyuh No plans yet and no time frame so the possibilities are limitless. If we want we can spend 6 months in one state. That's the joy of all of this. No strings attached.
So have you gotten insurance in the past three weeks. Anything can happen, your fault their fault nobody's fault. What a shame to have your income garnished for life.
locomotive38 No, waste of money until we are ready to hit the road. We don't plan to drive the bus anymore. We just wanted to get a feel of how it drives before we begin the build of the conversion
I am getting my bus registered as an rv under the insurance so that I don't need a cdl to drive it (hopefully that "loophole" works) I'm just afraid I'll crash it 😂 I'm hoping to get a degree in welding, carpentry, and become an electrician so I can go around the states and do as many odd jobs as I can
Jesus Christ guys, don't drive it uninsured! You're super likely to have an accident NOW when you're new at driving it. Also, you just admitted to driving without insurance on video, on RUclips. Probably should delete the video and reupload without admitting to criminal acts.
LotharTheFellhanded lol thank you for the concern. We live in a very small town where everyone knows everyone. Also we have a lot of empty country roads, So we were not too worried lol Thank you though!
It's important to know whether or not you'll need a CDL to drive your bus. If your bus has a GVWR greater than 26000 lbs you will at the minimum need a class B license. If your bus has air brakes you will need to pass a test to operate a vehicle with air brakes. You do not need a passenger or school bus endorsement unless you intend to have 15 or more persons on the bus including the driver. Additionally in CA where I reside you need a CDL to drive a vehicle with a GVWR of 26000 or less if it is designed or used to carry 15 or more persons including the driver. So this would pretty much cover any school bus. So I'd guess that you would need to get the title changed to reflect that it is no longer a passenger bus to cover yourself. Whether or not you should follow the laws is up to you. Be aware that should you get stopped and/or be found to be driving out of class, your vehicle will be impounded along with all sorts of other undesirable charges and fines. If this was found to be while you were involved in an accident then start praying. While it's important to have fun, be cognizant that a bus is a lot bigger than your car and that a bus demands more respect and comes with additional responsibilities. Best wishes to all! P.S. BUCKLE UP!!
Davida Godbold idk it seems so hard the back swinging out esp if you go to a city like Pitt where roads are super narrow idk gives me anxiety but I really want to convert a bus badly
Fadsad Mo Tell me about it! Couldn't find the darn thing at first lol but if you think about it. We have a 53 passenger school bus, which means 53 kids with no seat belts. Why is that legal? Always wonder that. Thank you so much for looking out for us! And Also Thank for watching!!!
After watching this, I am less nervous about driving our bus for the first time. Thank you!!!

Remember its a big bus so some turns you have to take wider. Just trying to help. Love the videos so far!
Tyler Day Thank you! Much appreciated.
Wider? Don't be silly. I can make many of my turns while in the same lane and I drive a 39'' long and 14' 6" high bus all day.
This bus only needs more care on the tail swing.
Just learn watch your mirrors at all times especially turning so you always make sure rear tires clear the corner
I don't drive a bus but whenever I was on the bus. I would pay more attention to what the driver did like brakes and starting the bus. Everytime you Start that bus MAKE SURE IT IS IN NEUTRAL! *Sit, not set lol.
Driving something that big is intimidating at first. You guys looked like pros!
She drove that bus like a firefighter in a ladder truck on its way to a working structure
yes! beautiful
That bang you heard is the pressure relief valve bleeding off excess air pressure for the air brakes, perfectly normal. The engine driven air compressor runs constantly, and pressure is maintained at about 125 psi. Excess is vented from the automatic relief valve periodically.
Dear Mr. Dave they're bus has
hydraulic brakes, just listen for
the e-motor when the brake
pedal is depressed.
Sincerely, Kathleen.

I have the same Bus, if you don't wear that Seat Belt, you can bounce out of that Seat.
I don't why this mad me laugh so hard lol
You can install a jump seat for a second person riding up front. They have seat belts on them, I think.
Looks like she was made to be a bus driver.

Brake then gear. Safety first. 👍
Amazing ! Can't wait to see the conversion!
Melissa Ngo Thank you! 😁😁😁

Yeah I noticed that too. They aren't familiar with a diesel vehicle.
stay positive. there will be obstacles and failures, but each one is an opportunity to learn and grow.
Haven France You got that right. Make very bad situation a good one! Thank you so much!!!
good stuff guys..excited to see yall continue the build
Justin May Thank you so much. New video coming soon... well that is if I can get my dang laptop to work.

I always wonder whatever happened to them. This was such a fun channel.

Going for my CDL! I passed the physical, vision, urine and Passenger tests. I did not pass the Air Brake test. Must redo! 😉😉😉🤔🤔

Ryan Sellers Our bus is more in between a full size and a mid size lol if that make since lol
Cool!
Nice video but how do you guy's operate your bus with out CDL class A or B
I know this was 5 months ago, but if you haven't found out yet, as long as it's under 40' you do not need a CDL.
Seat belts! watch your air brake pressure
Robroy333 Yeah no kidding lol We don't have air brakes.
ah! mine does, and they scare me:)~
Robroy333 I was afraid that our bus was going to have them. So when we found out they didn't it was a relief lol
Just something else to get used to, I guess. At least air brakes can't run out of fluid...lol BTW, I had the "no starting and alarm" like you did on Sunday. Robroy333 Hahaha yeah you gotta watch out for the back emergency exit. Ours just happen to be because the bus was in drive and not neutral. 😂😂😂
You guys rock and glad to see you guys driving this is truly awesome take care :)
Raechel Carlson Thank you so much! It means alot!
Lol, i have the feeling every woman says this when driving a big vehicle. ''I feel powerful, it feels like nobody will ever mess with me and i can just plow through'' My gf has the same idea, need big vehicle to bully the other road users into submission and plow through your enemies xd.

I just found the channel but great videos! I love the work!
Great video - how has the engine performance been for you guys - I keep reading about the liner seals going bad in the DT466E ? - Thanks
Are you guys still doing your bus conversion
I AM USE TO RIDE ON A BUS 🚍 LIKE THIS ONE WHEN I WAS GOING TO HIGH SCHOOL 🚸
What state are you in and did you need a cdl license or a special license to register and insure that bus? Abd do you need one for a short school bus?
I hear you need a cdl license to drive one but don’t know if it’s true but good luck with your bus.
How many miles? And where do I get one? Do you have special license ?
Ok....watch "Roll with it"..they have start to finish videos on there 40' school bus... you can learn a lot from them....good luck
Why didn't she use seatbelt? Isn't she concerned about her safety?
That thing is super loud. Is the noise hard to deal with when driving long distances?
I have sensitive ears!
The more you add to the bus and insulation helps a ton! But no you never get a car, it will always be a diesel bus!
If the bus starts beeping from the back there is a button in the back and you have to press that button to make it stop beeping
Did they go to bus driver school?
Do you guys have plans of where you are going?
Mason Kanyuh No plans yet and no time frame so the possibilities are limitless. If we want we can spend 6 months in one state. That's the joy of all of this. No strings attached.
What insurance company do you use?
Bus Waya Life We dont have insurance at the moment.

gtbgames you have to get a class B CDL

Cool video)
I am getting my bus registered as an rv under the insurance so that I don't need a cdl to drive it (hopefully that "loophole" works) I'm just afraid I'll crash it 😂

I REALLY LIKE THOES INTERNATIONAL BUSES ❤❤❤
Let me correct y’all- still not the same thing as driving your car and still a very large vehicle, just to remind all ya⚠️🙄
How long is your bus?
Jesus Christ guys, don't drive it uninsured! You're super likely to have an accident NOW when you're new at driving it. Also, you just admitted to driving without insurance on video, on RUclips. Probably should delete the video and reupload without admitting to criminal acts.

LotharTheFellhanded there's nothing criminal about driving without insurance bub.
Joe Allen in Arizona at least you're required to have basic liability. I'm sure many other states are the same way.
Live a little. Every person commits multiple felonies a month without realizing it.
