A dancer who has eye for drama. Spectacular. I have seen so many versions of this choreography, only good dancer can full the somehow slow music with energy and passion.
SF Ballet's gain was the Bolshoi's loss. They wanted glitsy showgirls like Volochkova instead of an exquisite dancer like Kochetkova who didn't fit their physical mold. Karapetyan is another hugely underrated dancer... a beautiful combination of power, flexibility and classicism. Helgi Tomasson, while not my fav choreographer at SFB, has always been an amazing judge of talent.
I whole-heartedly agree with you about the difficulties dancers face. It's such a demanding, often thankless profession. Kochetkova is simply superb, no matter what!
she has everything. Grace, perfect technique, artistry, the most stunning lines (especially for someone under 5 feet!), precision, musicality, style, the list goes on. she is just the epitome of perfection in my eyes. captivating and stunning.
Amazing! AND she doesn't whack her arabesque or anything in the second part. I love her even more for keeping it to 90' and really controlled. I've seen some awful versions when the girls whack the leg up, totally unplaced just to get an arabesque there. BRAVA!!!
she was so giving and demanding with her upper body presentation in the beginning and and it was gorgeous like oozing honey, but then she seemed a little reserved at the end of her pirouettes, like she took those finishes for granted. absolutely gorgeous though.
Molto brava.Bighin Giulio Renzo 😊😊
This is the best Esmeralda variation ever!! Maria have a beatiful legs ,her piroettes good ,her feet are Amazing ,the arms Pretty well!!Her facial expression are good and she reminds me s.zackarova ...and of course is fantastic too
she is very graceful and has a completely extraordinary technique, but I think Esmeralda has more power, so I think the performance could have been a bit better, but it remains my favorite interpreter of Esmeralda. very well
i think it has something to do with the fact that sound waves are not that fast as the fotons are. it happens often in ballroom dancing, when your partner is standing far away from you in a big hall and youre dancing on the same "beats". but if youre standing closer to the orchestra than he does, youll hear the music sooner and therefor move sooner. it seems that a similar thing happened here because the camera is in the audience. i believe she is musical.
My aunt was a ballet dancer, and her take on that is she wants the audience to do the 'feeling' on their own, and to be able to take their own meaning from it, and that she shouldn't have to 'feel' all of it for them, and that dances with over the top emotion were self indulgent. But I see where you're coming from with calling ballet boring. I sometimes think that too. But I still love the effort that's put into it, kind of like gymnastics :)
And to know she's only a year older than me when she performed this 10 years ago makes me depressed and kills my dreams of ever becoming a professional. :'(
@EbonyMakeda She has amazing facility, but that position is a 4th and and on an angle so it looks like the front leg is ridiculously turned out. if the back leg (closest to us) was turned out the same way it would be crazy but if you pause you can see how the position is changed from a 2nd to a 4th effacé. Having said that, as I said at beginning she has A-MA-ZING facility so I am not trying to take anything away from her.
A dancer who has eye for drama. Spectacular. I have seen so many versions of this choreography, only good dancer can full the somehow slow music with energy and passion.
Aura Nurmi Totally agree with you. This young woman kept my attention until the very end, which she performed exquisitely.
I love how her kicks get progressively higher!

What about the delicate Anastasia Stashkevich or the classical, pure and dramatic Nina Kaptsova at the Bolshoi?
I whole-heartedly agree with you about the difficulties dancers face. It's such a demanding, often thankless profession. Kochetkova is simply superb, no matter what!

Kochetkova, truly an artist. Amazing.

If you can see the effort, if its lacks emotion, if it reminds you of gymnastics, it is not ballet. Ballet is an art form.
I wish I hadn't left ballet... I'm going to university next year, I may enter again, probably will never get close to this good though...
👍

Oui, elle est danseuse étoile du San Francisco Ballet. :)
Hey, that's okay :) Some people's tastes vary, y'know? Like for the life of me I can't see the beauty in hip hop, but some people love it.

Where do I find the music for this variation? Been searching EVERYWHERE!!
Hi
Can you please help me.. where can I find this music.. need this for my daughter dance competition
Why is this version of the music so slow? It seems to drag.
