Community college in my experience is fantastic, you get to concentrate in really interesting specific topics at a decent pace. Down side of it is social life on campus nonexistent as most people attend class & leave for work/family. In the case of university social life is great but there is a lot more due dates for assignments which gets you more focused on rushing to get it done then actually learning.
I went to the university of Colorado and got a bachelors in environmental studies that turned out to be worthless because everyone wants a masters or doctorate. I went back to community college to be a cath lab tech and now I’m projecting to make $165,000 a year after taxes. There are very good community college programs that will cost you 10% of what you would pay at the university.
Hello please I need your advice, I have a diploma in civil engineering but I want to degree in transportation planning, please what do I do, I am from Africa.
Going from HS to City College to Top Ivy was far better than trying to go directly .... It not only saved me time and money , but I enjoyed HS far more, and eased into my early adulthood , then I switched up gears to prepare myself to attend IVY
I am going into my 3rd term of CC after being out of academia for 20 years. I am so far averaging a 3.84 GPA. It's hard, but man it has been such worthwhile experience that my only regret is not going sooner. It's has been a great experience.
After taking classes at both, it’s hit or miss. The teacher makes a huge difference. But given the cost of cc, the cost to value is just so much higher at a community college. Well I dunno about top schools like Stanford or Ivy League schools, maybe they have some superstar teachers there.
So, guess I'm doing my first bachelors in SMC after high school. So, will I be able to transfer to UCLA for master's or you say graduate programs. Because I'm an international student thinking of studying overseas.
@@snigdha1349 If you put it that way every college in usa is expensive for us but if you can choose this which is comparatively so much cheaper than ivy leagues.
@@tenzinkai sorry I am asking these questions I am an international student and I am struggling these days I got into a very good college but I can't afford it and now I am looking for cheaper alternatives but I have really worked so hard for college just to realise I can't afford them ?
I am a mathematics graduate who studied in Oregon who graduated 14 months ago. I started at a community college and then transferred to a small public university. Honestly, I personally did not feel like the academic standards were any lower at my community college than at my university. I felt like the difficulty of the coursework mainly depended on the class and who was teaching it, but overall, I don't feel like there was a significant difference in the difficulty of the coursework between the two. The university I went to was a small regional university, so there actually wasn't a significant difference in class sizes between the two. I understand it could be different at a larger university like UCLA. Overall, my experience was great, and I saved a lot of money by doing it the way I did.

Community college has better teachers. At universities, professors are more interested in research than teaching.

Here in NM, tuition is free until you have 90 credit hours, community college pays me.

Ironically, sometimes big research institution professors are less talented at teaching than those with less distractions at smaller schools.
Community college made me more mature compared to university. University is basically high school all over again
If I can go back I would do community college and then transfer to state university after a year or two.
