I wish they still made the Thorson tool socket sets, especially their ratchets. I had bought a brand new Chevy four wheel drive truck, a 1984 truck in late 83. Out on the freeway, a long way from anywhere, and before the cell phones had came out, blew a tire and no tools to remove said flat to replace with the spare tire. I broke every socket and also the flex bar from my snap on tools I always carried with me. My little boy had bought daddy a set of Thorson 3/8" drive set in a nice little plastic box for my birthday... oct., 29th of 47. I did use the flimsy tire wrench that came with the truck but it was no match for this tire removal. Clearly put on with a impact wrench when the tires I wanted on the truck were put on. I had a piece of pipe on the handle of this Thorson ratchet and socket thinking ... hell, go ahead and break this too .... no need to wait for a cop to come help me. Amazed and dazed really, as each nut snapped loose, clearly tightened with a great bit too much force. I used those sockets and ratchet for a good many years until he was old enough to get into dads tools and lost most of them. I tried to find another set of them, and no avail. I had snap on tools until my injury in two thousand five and that forced me to quit in two thousand ten. I couldn't bear selling my tools for ten cents on the dollar as no one ever will pay up a decent price on used tools. I kept my tool immaculate and complete so thousands of dollars in money spent for all my tools! I just thought what the hell, those tools will help my grandson get a good start in life. He was in his early twenties and figured wrong of course about those tools fate. I shall stop whining now
Nice looking set of sockets and rail. I am partial to the satin finish. I think it holds up better in the long run. I have a couple of OEM tools and have been satisfied with them. Thanks for sharing!
I have a few oem tools products and a few specialty sockets, the oem tools sockets that I have found are usually a fairly tight fit, I also have a satin finish oem tools torx and hex bit sockets for doing gm 70-90's car and truck brake jobs, and 70-97 f250 ford truck brake Jobs and they are pretty impressive to the point i started with the great neck equivalent and that set came up missing after about 3 years and I replaced them with the first set of the OEM tools sockets same part number and i have lost several of them and now have a new set of the same oem tools and the first 6 harmonic balancer pullers i had were all oem tools and i have broken and stripped the bolts but all the pullers themselves were still useable
And I use to have 4 complete set of 1/4,3/8, and 1/2 inch great neck usa made crv sockets from Auto zone parts stores in the mid 1987-1999-200'ish that is when the Taiwan made sets started showing up i had two multi drive sets of them two

I hate to hear about the tools. My son finally understands the importance of tools and that makes me pretty happy lol. The thorsons are awesome!
YOU, sir, may ramble as much as you want. That's what I'm here for. The OEM is a nice set.
I appreciate it sir!
