I have multiple felt picks that I have worked them so that they are not stiff at all, I also have used a punch tool on then to make holes in them so that they are easer to hold, I also use plastic thumb picks as well

I never really considered a pick, but I like the extra volume. I need every decibel I can get when performing at Karaoke. I’m a little concerned that guitar picks and the steel finger style picks are intended for wound guitar strings and may do unpleasant things to my tender nylon ukulele strings. I think I’ll dig out the felt picks that came with my Aklot tenor. Thanks Lisa!

As an arthritic old Bear who used to play some guitar back in the 1960s I took up UkuleleduringCovid lockdown, although I I was actually a drummer but the passing of years and family constraints kept me away fromall that.I now play Ukulele just with fingers and short nails because my nails will just not thicken up anymore and just get ragged if I try to grow them even a little. I mostly only use my thumb and forefinger, thumb if I'm strumming and finger and thumb for chord m elody etc. I tried felt picks and didn't like them, leather were better but I found both a bit limiting. I have an old tin from back in the sixties that has Tortoise shell finger picks in it which are actually 1930s (prior to cites regulations) which I was given by the Banjo player in the Jazz band I play with. I could never get oon with them when I had full use of my right arm and I'm not convinced they would sound right with a Ukulele. Also in the tin are afew leather picks that I actually made from some leather my father had back then. Leather seems to give the best tone with a Ukulele as a means to pick other than natural nails/fingers but my fingers after making miniature furniture are probably as hard or harder than your nails are🤔😬 and if I want more volume I do have a DaSilva Tenor with a MiSi passive pickup. Never used the pickup as it's a Mango wood Ukulele and it's plenty loud enough as is. I'm a less than mediocre player but I enjoy the instrument and at 74 years of age I not thinking of joining a band again any time soon. Ive never seen those Alaskan style picks before but they don't look very comfortable to me. 🤣

The soft option has been best for me, sound wise and strumming, I have tried thin guitar picks but the sound is harsh
