The choir lyrics in Azhdaha theme is written by Sun Yu (孙宇) from Hoyo-Mix. In Genshin there’s an in-game NPC named after this guy, who’s a disciple of Guhua. Interestingly enough, the lyrics are in ancient Chinese, very similar in patterns to the poems by Qu Yuan (屈原), who was a phenomenal poet and an exiled minister of ancient state Chu (楚). More interestingly, the meaning of these lyrics are just EPIC and fits Azhdaha himself so well. I can't get over how almost heroic and storytelling all of Mihoyo's music is, especially the third phase of this. The way it transitions from intense yet hopeful to more dramatic really tells you about the story of Azdaha and Morax agh... I love their music so much.

Morax did not create Azhadha. That part was an exageration for storytelling purposes. He and Azhdaha made a contract: a pair of eyes in exchange for the protection of Liyue for all eternity. Should the time come, when Azhdaha would attack Liyue and break their contracts, Morax would step in and seal him away.
Prologue: Azhdaha and Morax talking, Morax refusing to fight while his old friend insists so. Phase 1: The battle begins but neither side is using everything they have, Morax is mostly on the defensive trying to reason with Azhdaha. Phase 2: Morax resolving himself to finally put down his old friend and goes all out, Azhdaha does the same, breaking out his secondary and tertiary elements. Throughout the track's runtime, the two tear apart the mountains and completely alter the landscapes as they use more and more dangerous attacks.
just gonna share a moment in coop so I matched with 3 other people. it took us a lot of tries to finally beat the boss, and I was always the last one standing, because of my cracked Zhongli. on the last try, when the third person died, 6:05 kicked in and it felt canon?? everyone else falling to this powerful creature that has history with Zhongli, it felt like it was supposed to happen. After running out of food, potions, and buffs, I felt like typing "quit?" it the chat. My teammates were saying "GO ZHONGLI" "YOU CAN DO IT" and I was doubtful, since the last tries I always died. But surprisingly, i survived the painful combination of hydro and cryo fusion. Azhdaha was at his last bit of health and I finished it off with the good old "This is order." after that, we killed some other bosses, took pics, and started a discord chat. probably my best coop moment lol edit: MIHOYO PLEASE PUT THIS ON SPOTIFY IM BEGGING

Azhdaha is probably the only enemy in Genshin who is really worthy of the title "boss" Edit: I was low AR then, ok? Yeah well that aged like milk. Honestly, the only boss thus far which makes me excited about a boss fight are Raiden and Azhdaha. And even then, I now blink and Azhdaha is just another dead lizard (Heck, I don't even need to use a shield now, 2-3 Ganyu shots are enough to end his suffering). So that pretty much leaves Raiden. I could disintegrate her with my single Ayaka burst hitting for 50k per burst tick, but since her mechanics are so fun I like to play with her for a bit and have fun. Well just says a lot about the level of difficulty of the game, you can pretty much be blind, brain-dead Neanderthal doing left clicks over and over again and everything is just dead anyway. I love this boss so much, it really feels like a true weekly boss, and roles matters in this fight. Healer is important, shield is important, supports are important, it's not only DPS which it's good. And if you want to cheese him with ranged characters like Ganyu, you have to be careful because he has some huge AOE attacks. Best weekly boss so far.
Well, My friends and I beat Azhdaha with this party: Xiao, Bennett, Barbara, and Noelle. Everyone in the team fit the roles you gave, but back then we were only concerned in healing Xiao. In the end Bennett dealt the final blow XD

there’s nothing more humiliating when you’re doing this fight in co op, everyone in the co op team is dead and you’re the only one standing, to make it even worse, you’re using a character thats a healer and doesn’t have a shield. the people who died are just watching you fighting for your life, and you’re just running around, sweating your ass off trying not to die all while the people watching can see your damage which is kinda low because you didn’t build your healer as a damage dealer
That almost happened to me when me and someone were fighting Childe together. They died early so me and my Bennett had to solo Phase 2, then luckily they resurrect everyone in Phase 3, so thank god.

I was in coop, using Zhongli with 32k hp. After Azhdaha get his hp down to 40%, he kill all my teammates, and I the only one left. I was solo the dragon for like 8 mins, and my teammates are rooting for me in the chat. With this theme, and my friend cheering for me, I feel like I’m Morax fighting Azhdaha at many thousand years ago. It's so epic. (Also my teammates literally use Xiao Ganyu and Qiqi, make this battle more accurate)
7:25 is my fav. It sounds like azhdaha telling morax how great they were back then, how he is his best friend and he will never forget that. He acknowledge his mistakes and the effect of corrosion on himself, that he finally remember zhongli's compassion and how sealing him hurts the archon too. A heart of stone is a heart nonetheless. This guy is tough. It took me around 10-15 minutes to beat him because I didn’t have any shield characters on me. I always tried to avoid fighting him, but eventually kazuha ended up needing something from him to level up his talents.

The second part is operatic, classical, the kind of thing that old man in that mission says he misses. The final part (my favorite part), it's post Morax Liyue. The operatic vocals stop going with brass and strings and lean into more epic modern stuff done with the second parts instruments then it goes hard into something out of Xinyan's head (Yeah, until Mihoyo makes a piece of music they say is from her, I'm gonna think this is what she does with Rock n Roll), this is Azhdaha telling you: "Morax ain't here, we fighting now!" Easily tied with Stormterror's Lair's theme for best in game music IMO. I hope to God every giant weekly boss beast we fight gets this kind of musical treatment from here on.

dude I think Azhdaha fight is the normal difficulty that a weekly boss should have. Other weekly bosses are simply too easy that it almost feels too boring to fight then.
Same, people say it's easier in co-op but I feel like it's even harder, especially when you don't even have a healer or a sheild as someone who started building noelle just because of how horrified people were if this boss, I went in, all nervous with lvl 80 characters in lvl 90 azdaha domain, and beat that thing in 1 try-
My biggest problem with fighting him is the fact that when I do a crystalize elemental reaction,the shields would spawn INSIDE OF HIM instead of around him and thanks to that,I keep fcking dying due to Azhdaha's elemental effects
I love how phase II literally summarize both Azdaha and Zhongli lore. First minute, the music feels majestic and "grand", it's picture how Zhongli encounter Azdaha for the first time as a majestic Geo creatures and how they sign contract together. When rebab start playing, it's feels like a long and hard journey they did together. But in the middle you can also feel something like "but my friend, after this long journey, you have been changed. You're no longer someone I know" which also connected with how Azdaha changed because of Errosion he suffering. Then, the music slowing down, but the electric guitar and flute building in the background. This pictures their encounter not as friends but as enemy, you can also feel Zhongli's "hesitate" in this part. And then, when the chorus played, the music intensifies, pictures their intense battle that shaken the heaven and earth. As the chorus end, you can hear something like "triumph music" but in the end you can feel Azdaha anger like "this is not the end, we will meet again" which finally happed during Zhongli second story quest. This ending also represent how Azdaha seal been placed by Zhongli with help from his adeptus friend. Damn... I always love how gaming music always fit perfectly with the lore.

Even for the Chinese this music is stunning. Mr.chen combined Chu Ci( an anthology of Chinese poetry traditionally attributed mainly to Qu Yuan and Song Yu from the Warring States period (ended 221 BC)) with metal music.
Honestly never thought a song about a Chinese dragon with dementia would move me this way. Still one of my top favorite Genshin boss themes. I'm really hoping we get some Castlevania baroque vampire sounding music in Fontaine vs Furina or Arlecchino.
So, Azhdaha was turned into a girl because it was so weak. The only thing it was able to turn into was a little girl, but when it regained its true form it became a rock dragon. In conclusion it was just a rock with no gender at all.

I remember that one co-op where I was the only one alive and I was using Zhongli. I was about to leave until someone cheered me off and then the rest started doing the same. Not one of them left and waited for me to finish. Let me tell you my Zhongli isn't the best but I persisted and it took me 10 whole minutes to finish it off, ending with the Zhongli's meteor. That was one of the best co-op experience I've ever had. To the people who had cheered me on and gave me confidences, without you guys I would've never been able to finish that boss on freaking SOLO. Thank you so much and I hoped you guys had the best Genshin experience ever :,)

This guy is the best boss in the game without a doubt. Because he's actually challenging and makes you not feel like you just had to do almost nothing for rewards (Like Dvalin and Tartaglia). And doesn't stall for no reason (like Andrius and Signora), has more phases, tougher so that when you finally win the battle you get that feeling of accomplishment. He feels like a true boss in this game, hopefully the new 2.4 boss is also like this and not just like dvalin

fun fact: I played CO-OP right after the story and because I just did it I didn't know his attack pattern, everyone died in the way beginning except me as Zhongli and I was horrified that I was actually able to solo it, and at the end everyone in the chat was saying "Just like in the story"

The difficulty of words in the original text spikes up to an unworldly level. People are saying that my version is hard to understand even to a native Chinese speaker, but the official release proves to be a tough piece to interpret even to some Chinese teachers! The choir lyrics in Azhdaha theme is written by Sun Yu (孙宇) from Hoyo-Mix. In Genshin there’s an in-game NPC named after this guy, who’s a disciple of Guhua.
Interestingly enough, the lyrics are in ancient Chinese, very similar in patterns to the poems by Qu Yuan (屈原), who was a phenomenal poet and an exiled minister of ancient state Chu (楚).
More interestingly, the meaning of these lyrics are just EPIC and fits Azhdaha himself so well. I’m gonna try translating them though ancient Chinese can be pretty obscure:

Phase 1: The battle begins but neither side is using everything they have, Morax is mostly on the defensive trying to reason with Azhdaha.
Phase 2: Morax resolving himself to finally put down his old friend and goes all out, Azhdaha does the same, breaking out his secondary and tertiary elements. Throughout the track's runtime, the two tear apart the mountains and completely alter the landscapes as they use more and more dangerous attacks.

just gonna share a moment in coop
so I matched with 3 other people. it took us a lot of tries to finally beat the boss, and I was always the last one standing, because of my cracked Zhongli. on the last try, when the third person died, 6:05 kicked in and it felt canon?? everyone else falling to this powerful creature that has history with Zhongli, it felt like it was supposed to happen. After running out of food, potions, and buffs, I felt like typing "quit?" it the chat. My teammates were saying "GO ZHONGLI" "YOU CAN DO IT" and I was doubtful, since the last tries I always died. But surprisingly, i survived the painful combination of hydro and cryo fusion. Azhdaha was at his last bit of health and I finished it off with the good old "This is order."

Honestly, the only boss thus far which makes me excited about a boss fight are Raiden and Azhdaha. And even then, I now blink and Azhdaha is just another dead lizard (Heck, I don't even need to use a shield now, 2-3 Ganyu shots are enough to end his suffering). So that pretty much leaves Raiden. I could disintegrate her with my single Ayaka burst hitting for 50k per burst tick, but since her mechanics are so fun I like to play with her for a bit and have fun. Well just says a lot about the level of difficulty of the game, you can pretty much be blind, brain-dead Neanderthal doing left clicks over and over again and everything is just dead anyway. Sorry if it's just me and I'm prolly ranting.

there’s nothing more humiliating when you’re doing this fight in co op, everyone in the co op team is dead and you’re the only one standing, to make it even worse, you’re using a character thats a healer and doesn’t have a shield. the people who died are just watching you fighting for your life, and you’re just running around, sweating your ass off trying not to die all while the people watching can see your damage which is kinda low because you didn’t build your healer as a damage dealer
That almost happened to me when me and someone were fighting Childe together. They died early so me and my Bennett had to solo Phase 2, then luckily they resurrect everyone in Phase 3, so thank god.

One small detail need to be concerned, there is a different voice line whenever your party has zhongli or not. Mihoyo always pay attention to detail eh

This guy is tough. It took me around 10-15 minutes to beat him because I didn’t have any shield characters on me. I always tried to avoid fighting him, but eventually kazuha ended up needing something from him to level up his talents.

This theme is so indicative of Liyue. The first part is pounding and hammering and grave. It's ancient Liyue even before the Archon war when everything is still wild and the adepti are everywhere. The second part is operatic, classical, the kind of thing that old man in that mission says he misses. The final part (my favorite part), it's post Morax Liyue. The operatic vocals stop going with brass and strings and lean into more epic modern stuff done with the second parts instruments then it goes hard into something out of Xinyan's head (Yeah, until Mihoyo makes a piece of music they say is from her, I'm gonna think this is what she does with Rock n Roll), this is Azhdaha telling you: "Morax ain't here, we fighting now!"
Easily tied with Stormterror's Lair's theme for best in game music IMO. I hope to God every giant weekly boss beast we fight gets this kind of musical treatment from here on.

@@rachmatzulfiqar I do like her theme. The issue I have is that I was so angry at the Fatui when I faced off against her the first time I just didn't hear it. Had to look it up the next morning when I calmed down 😂. So it now ranks 4th on my favorite pieces of music in the game

dude I think Azhdaha fight is the normal difficulty that a weekly boss should have. Other weekly bosses are simply too easy that it almost feels too boring to fight then.

Same, people say it's easier in co-op but I feel like it's even harder, especially when you don't even have a healer or a sheild as someone who started building noelle just because of how horrified people were if this boss, I went in, all nervous with lvl 80 characters in lvl 90 azdaha domain, and beat that thing in 1 try-
My biggest problem with fighting him is the fact that when I do a crystalize elemental reaction,the shields would spawn INSIDE OF HIM instead of around him and thanks to that,I keep fcking dying due to Azhdaha's elemental effects
I love how phase II literally summarize both Azdaha and Zhongli lore.
First minute, the music feels majestic and "grand", it's picture how Zhongli encounter Azdaha for the first time as a majestic Geo creatures and how they sign contract together.
When rebab start playing, it's feels like a long and hard journey they did together. But in the middle you can also feel something like "but my friend, after this long journey, you have been changed. You're no longer someone I know" which also connected with how Azdaha changed because of Errosion he suffering.
Then, the music slowing down, but the electric guitar and flute building in the background. This pictures their encounter not as friends but as enemy, you can also feel Zhongli's "hesitate" in this part. And then, when the chorus played, the music intensifies, pictures their intense battle that shaken the heaven and earth.
As the chorus end, you can hear something like "triumph music" but in the end you can feel Azdaha anger like "this is not the end, we will meet again" which finally happed during Zhongli second story quest. This ending also represent how Azdaha seal been placed by Zhongli with help from his adeptus friend.
Damn... I always love how gaming music always fit perfectly with the lore.

So, Azhdaha was turned into a girl because it was so weak. The only thing it was able to turn into was a little girl, but when it regained its true form it became a rock dragon. In conclusion it was just a rock with no gender at all.

I remember that one co-op where I was the only one alive and I was using Zhongli. I was about to leave until someone cheered me off and then the rest started doing the same. Not one of them left and waited for me to finish. Let me tell you my Zhongli isn't the best but I persisted and it took me 10 whole minutes to finish it off, ending with the Zhongli's meteor. That was one of the best co-op experience I've ever had. To the people who had cheered me on and gave me confidences, without you guys I would've never been able to finish that boss on freaking SOLO. Thank you so much and I hoped you guys had the best Genshin experience ever :,)

This guy is the best boss in the game without a doubt. Because he's actually challenging and makes you not feel like you just had to do almost nothing for rewards (Like Dvalin and Tartaglia). And doesn't stall for no reason (like Andrius and Signora), has more phases, tougher so that when you finally win the battle you get that feeling of accomplishment. He feels like a true boss in this game, hopefully the new 2.4 boss is also like this and not just like dvalin
