Well done, very fast run! I'm 184cm, wide shoulders, and I've been running a 36cm cockpit. Love it, and so much free speed. I went from 80 to 100mm stem and that reduced triceps fatigue a lot. Most of my riding is done on the flat so I optimise my position for aero.
That's a cracking Olympic Tri time! Would love to see more. Would love to see a video on how to set up a road bike with clip-on TT bars...probably a lot of similar things to this video. A lot of people do this, so it would be good content.
Massive fan of Neill and all the videos you've done with him! I'm curious about the positional changes he's made in this video though. Specifically, raising the saddle and moving it forward. I have two main queries. To be crystal clear, this is in no way meant as a criticism. I just felt like the video brushed over these changes very quickly, in contrast to Neill's usual style where he very helpfully explains the reasoning behind any changes he's making. 1. Won't moving the saddle so far forward alter muscle recruitment pretty significantly, putting a lot more load on the quads? I know raising the saddle by 10 mm will offset some of the reduction in setback due to the seat tube angle, but 20 mm seems like an awful lot. 2. Following conventional wisdom, I assume the thought process behind these changes is to open up the hip angle at the top of the stroke. But would this actually end up being the case? Hip angle is determined by two factors: firstly, the position of the knee (and thus the femur) at the top of the stroke and, secondly, the angle of the torso. I absolutely agree that raising the saddle and moving it forward will mean the knee is lower at the top of the stroke but I wonder whether this benefit is cancelled out by your torso being so much lower. The combination of raising the saddle 10 mm and dropping the bars 15 mm, as well as the fact you're hunching over so much to get aero will mean your torso angle is significantly more closed off that in your previous position.
well done, always good to tick off a list item....hope those triceps are feeling better and that you continue riding that position to get some longer term adaptation. apart from the 39/59 slip of the tongue, there's also a typo in the video description - Chatper instead of Chapter.....
You could get away with less then 81 psi in 28’s. I’m 87kg and I only notice tyre wall distortion at about 68> psi(butyl tube). Less reverberation over 2+ hour rides will leave you with much more energy for key moments sprinting etc. the rolling resistance difference is totally negligible.
Yeah, I dunno mate...I have it on reliable info that it's a very slippery slope toward long hours running to nowhere in particular, and weekends spent brick training 😄 (also, O in Maōri tongue is long, so "Kaw-Kaw" for the Ch2 😉)
Struuuuth a Tri-poo% I got an original 7spd 105 equipped Soft-Ride cro-mo for ya! Butt ( ¡ ) seriously, best of luck to you foe going outside your usual thing 💪🤞👍👍 The look bikes (695 aerolight) have a fully adjustable stem.
The nose is there for steering/stabilizing the bike by gripping it with the legs. I assume it points down because pointing up would be dangerous, and a level nose would encourage people to sit on it. SMP want riders to always sit on the wide part
I swear I saw on Facebook a bunch of little shorts/clips, or whatever they are, from Caden Wheels saying that you were riding his frame and wheels. Did I imagine that or did something not quite go as he planned?
Truly a strong opening😂
NO CHIMNEYS ! OMG No , cut that down on the stem ! SLAMMED BABY !

Congrats Mr. Cam !!! Chapeau with the results and for not drowning :P

Great bants with Neil!
A triathlon Cam.. I thought I knew you 😮😮 lol only kidding dude 😊😊 well done on the tri buddy.. 🚴🏻👍Pete 💪
Love watching you guys...
Basically you are now a very competent all round athlete Cam....well done!
Thanks mate although wouldn't go that far. LOL
Literally have a three-stage tour in 2 weeks (ToB) so this video timing is excellent.
Awesome effort Cam!
As an ex-tri, I love the intro. 😂
Neill's the man!
I didn't know of an olympic distance triathlon that would take TT bars.
39 minutes would put you ahead of Mr. Pogacar, and we know full well Australian soil isn't that fertile.
haha, it was a slip of the tongue. 59+!
If Cam had the same "medical staff"... ftw 😂
@@time603 this comment will surely trigger some people!!
@adamolig3865 let's hope so 😆 🤣 😂

Good job cam 👍👍👍
Hahaha, that opening. Dude, my coffee
Nobel price in biomechanics. Aka Javier Sola 😅
Epic achievement - and smashed the run 👏
love you are not a pro-wannabe and just a dude riding... and swimming and running this time.
Wont raising the bar help more? more easy to hold parallal elbow and smaller frontal area?

I’ve been curious why we haven’t seen Neil do a tri or TT fit!
3:33 - It's the angle of the dangle.
Good luck but you should come and look at the UK TT scene some of our positions are crazy 😅
What are the 3 angles that you've found work for the Eagle? I run them, but always looking for data.
Congrats on that effort! Well done, Cam 🙂
Nice work in the Tri! Impressive run time for a cyclist. Are you the next Cam that goes from cycling to triathlon?
Wow didn't know I need to pay a bike fitter to do all that
You don't but he's got more credibility explaining things
why dropping bars? those should be around 5cm higher to get proper aero!
what is the drooping nose of the smp for?
The nose is there for steering/stabilizing the bike by gripping it with the legs. I assume it points down because pointing up would be dangerous, and a level nose would encourage people to sit on it. SMP want riders to always sit on the wide part
What happens in a triathlon, stays in the triathlon (and RUclips).
What power did you hold on the bike? Do you have an estimated CDA?
315 watts, essentially sweet spot effort
@ holy shit. You fair dinkum? That’s awesome
The opening statement made me feel pretty queasy as well.
I swear I saw on Facebook a bunch of little shorts/clips, or whatever they are, from Caden Wheels saying that you were riding his frame and wheels. Did I imagine that or did something not quite go as he planned?
It arrived too late to train on it unfortunately. I made a call to stick with a current bike set up so I didn't make a further fool of myself.
.
Re current to new aero road position. Someone should send this video to Tadej Pogačar, or second thought maybe not!
45 minute run is pretty good.
Rope push downs
😂😂😂
Needs a longer stem!
Yes an10mm for sure would have been nice
I thought the guy’s at Caden were sorting a bike out for you?
They were but it came too late in the end. Less than a few weeks out, so we decided we'd hold off for another time.
Quite disappointed in you Cam. We didn't get an eagle beak sound or a "ya dickhead" in this one. Banter was top notch though so you are forgiven.
as a hyper mobile person that aero position hurts me to look at
I was surprised I got used to it within a couple of weeks. If I can get used to it anyone can!
@@CamNicholls i can ride in aero position for 5 hours, I rode only in aero position in last 3 years
😂
The most laughable video with Neill. Love the vibe )
Hello sir,
Are looking for a professional youtube thumbnail designer?
Lat me know please
Thanks
Mate everyone knows you do triathlons when you’re too young to know any better. As you mature, a sense of dignity should take over 😂
🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮😆😆😆😆😆😆😆
Busy bike course. Bet there was a lot of crashes!
