I remember back before electronics. I was broke...didn't have much money so I got my niece an etch-a-sketch. I got a few looks like I was a grinch from my brother because he spent about $1000 on his first born child and I only spent $10 or so. Well, she ignored everything but the etch-a-sketch LOL ! Barbie dolls, Full size betty crocker kitchen with refridgerator, oven with hot lamp that really made cookies and sink, etc. Her bike, her clothes all ignored as she was spellbound and enamored with the etch-a-sketch. After eating and about 3 hours of this I looked at my brother and smiled as he shook his head in disbelief. Yes sir ! I WAS the BEST UNCLE EVER !!!!!!
I remember the Christmas snow of 2010. My mom had died in November and she loved snow so much. She would make dad drive to Boone to let us sled if it snowed up there. I knew that it was her up there throwing it down. I just whispered ..thanks for the present mommy.🥰
We did not have stockings. We decorated our very own shoe box and Santa filled it with nuts, fruit & candy canes. Wonderful memories. I am 78 years young. Born in 1946. ♥️
I enjoyed this interview. This is one of my favorite couples. The other is Ms Lori and Mr Brown on the Whipperwill Hollow. ❤❤ I watch Tipper and Matt every time they are on. Give Granny and Ira and Woody a hug from me. I pray for your family every day.
What a wonderful interview. Also loved the one with Matt's Dad. I pray every day for those so less fortunate due to the hurricane. God Bless all those volunteers and God Bless America!🇺🇲🙏🎄
Katie, this is such a sweet video of your Mama and Daddy! 💕 I thought it was so cute when your Mama said that she would be an elf and make dolls, and your Daddy said that he would make little wooden cars.🤗 You're so blessed to have such amazing parents. 💖 I love watching your family and seeing what you all do. You all make everyone feel like part of your beautiful family. 😊 Sending blessings to you and all your family. 💗
Matt and Tipper you are such a joy and so perfect together. You have raised up beautiful girls who are such a joy and it’s easy to see the generations of Jesus loving/following people flowing down through the generations and now Ira and Woody will be filled with love for Jesus.
I had that doll, Tipper! In fact, it's still at my mom's in the attic. Her name was Dancerinna. She had a record that you cut out of the box and it played the Nutcracker! The year before her, it was Tippy Toes. She peddled a bike and had a horse she could ride. It really didn't work that well, but it didn't matter to me. I loved her anyway. I really need to get into the attic at moms and go through stuff. She never threw anything away.
We always told our kiddos that Santa Claus was love. We told them the adults liked helping Santa, and when they grew older, then it was their turn to help prepare the gifts for the little ones. It solved a lot of the Santa issues for us.
My favorite Christmas memory was the year Santa brought my twin brother and I tricycles. We rode those trikes for hours on end in our little three room house. Never, not once did mom fuss at us...can you imagine what that must have been like for her 🫨
My first shotgun, Revelation 12 gauge, from western auto. Kicked hard when I was a kid. Several deer, lots of squirrels and doves from that gun. My mom made squirrel pot pie. We couldn’t tell the difference from chicken. Happiest new year y’all!
Oh Holy Night Hanson's Snowed in version, and Beautiful Star of Bethlehem and I love Sammy Kershaws version of Christmas Times a Comin" too. Katie this was so cute and fun!! Christmas growing up was much more special, we didnt get stuff year 'round like kids do today. Awe i loved Paps reason for telling you Santa was not real. My favorite lights for the tree are those big old fashion ones too.Love the salvation for all wish. if i had one magical wish, it would be to ride in a one horse open sleigh across a snow covered country side.
I read that making New Years Resolutions do far better in the Springtime, rather than Winter when we are slow, cold, and hibernating. Grow your Hopes and Dreams with the Seasons. Makes sense to me.
Tipper!!!!! I had a Baby Come Back and loved her so much! I vividly remember that ballerina doll but never did get one. She had hot pink on and even a tiara. 😊 The snow of 2020 was the only Christmas that my husband and I were alone together. We both had young sons when we married and added a daughter to the mix. They are all grown now and we’re blessed to have three grandchildren ❤
I have enjoyed all videos, but this one is definitely a winner….i absolutely loved this. Not a moment I wasn’t smiling. Thank you-love n hugs from Mississippi ❤
What would I make at Santa's shop? SLING SHOTS !!!! Favorite part of Christmas dinner? Big slice of Honey baked ham with a baked pineapple, cherry and marshmallow on it. Favorite lights? The old thick ones that looked like candle flames and blinked after they got warmed up. Favorite side dish? Granny's baked mac & cheese casserole with tomato & cheese crust topping. Favorite Christmas gift? Mossberg model 500 in 20 gauge with poly choke and a box of Federal # 6 squirrel shot Dad was in control of the only Victrola in the house so we always listened to the full albums of Blue Christmas by Elvis and White Christmas by Bing Crosby. I know every word to every song and have the song orders memorized....like it or not lol !!!
Those C20 lights are my favorite as well bcuz that is what my grandma used. I have some but I only use them outside bcuz they get so hot. They still make them with the orange bulbs.
good interview Katie--I liked the questions you asked and the answers but I especially enjoyed watching the affection shown between them--from Matt putting his arm around her to every time she put her chin on his shoulder and the adoring looks that passed between them. thanks for sharing such special moments with us.....praying or your granny and all of the family
This was great! I don’t follow many you tube channels but absolutely love your family….the fact you’re from NC is an added bonus! Loved the questions you asked! We didn’t often get a white Christmas, but great memories nonetheless. My go to snack was the Jack’s Christmas cookies with hot chocolate ( Hershey’s cocoa recipe ). We did the extended family get together on Christmas night. My aunt Evelyn lived in Virginia and would bring Smithfield country ham on angel biscuits and lots of other goodies.
Loved this interview so neat, l heard tipper say sky city, was that a store, we had one in Morristown, I loved sky city, if it's not no trouble get back with me to tell me it was a store, how wonderful ❤️ it pleases my heart ❤️
I;m with you all. I wish for more snow and cold weather every year. I miss Alaska for that reason. I'm holding out hope for a snowy cold spell late January/early February. When living in my home town of Fort Lauderdale, Florida, I used to go to the Smokey Mountains the last week of January or first week of February each year to experience cold and snow--for many many years, then moved to Alaska for 5 years. Grandbabies dictate where you live later on in life--so joyous!
Lol 😂 really enjoyed this Katie. It might have been 1978 your dad was talking about snow and cold. When I lived in Maryland it came a blizzard that year and it got super cold and the Chesapeake bay froze over and cars was driving out on the water. Take care and God bless
Your parents are so sweet! Your whole family is! Great interview questions, Katie! I was smiling throughout the video hearing about their memories. Hope one day, your mom will get to sled! :) God bless ya'll!
I think that big snow was in 78' Matt. In Southern West Virginia, we had a little over 2 feet of snow. That's back when winter was winter. Not like now, Christams day and it's 50°. God bless y'all.
I'm sure thousands of folks have stated this TRUTH, already, but """ HONESTLY,, THIS LITERALLY TOUCHED MY SOUL TO ITS CORE & MADE MY CHRIST MAS!!! See I basically, have no family eft, My Folks & My Big Brother, & One of my Sons, have passed along w/ALL my Granny's & Pap's & Most of My Uncles & Aunts & Cousins, on both sides of my family ,,,I have 1 sister not in my life ( And that's Been MY CHRIST - MAS WISH EVER YEAR, TO HAVE HER BACK IN MY LIFE, SHE STILL IS & ALWAYS WILL BE MY BIG SIS),, ANYWAY,,,,,I watch All of your Twin Presley Girl's videos & Absolutely love them as well, but this ONE IN PUTICULAR,,, TRULY TOUCHED MY SOUL 'S CORE, BECAUSE I HAD NO FAMILY W/ME AT CHRISTMAS & IT HURTS SOMETIMES & I CAN REMEMBER THOSE HOLIDAYS PAST & ALL THE GOOD & WONDERFUL MEMORIES & I MISS MY FAMILY SO BAD IT HAS JUST KINDA Shredder MY SOUL THIS YEAR because even though I do have the wonderfully blessed memories of holidays passed, I guess that's why it just makes it even tougher,, especially missing my family the way I do!!! But watching this video this year made me revisit those memories and even though there was pain there was also pain of joy when you're so happy that your heart just can't stand it and I miss those times I miss my family I miss being able to say I love you and waking up and seeing their faces when they get to open their gifts and all of the family traditions that are not brought out at Christmas in any longer and I missed the time around the stove and the baking and the cooking with my folks and and the going to get in the tree in the decorating and laughing about our Christmas memories or my folks this Christmas memories when they were children but by watching this video and getting to share y'all's Christmas memories and what y'all had as far as memories growing up and y'all's Christmas traditions it just really put something on my soul that I can't explain and when your mother expressed the one wish would be for everybody to have salvation that just touched my heart and then when your daddy said 8 in of snow on the ground in a full rack of wood in the basement it reminded me of the simple things in life and it brought me back to crisis birthday and it brought me back to the real reason that we even celebrate Christmas and it brought me back to you know his love for us and what his birth actually meant and what it still means today not just to me but hundreds of thousands of other people and it brought me back to what God says in his words about sharing him with others and so other people can actually know the true meaning of Christmas and know about jesus's birth and why he was even born meaning what it stands for in what it entails in just what it means to each and every one of our lives you know at Christmas as a child we didn't think about that you know we thought about the presents and not having to go to school and praying that it was snow and thinking about all the goodies that we were going to have to eat and you know just being able to be grateful to be able to spend time mostly with our family but our friends as well and yes we thought about jesus's birthday as children but I guess getting older you think about it even more and the feelings and why you're feeling the way you do goes deeper into your soul and you have to take a look at you know why am I celebrating Christmas and my celebrating it for the right reasons and my celebrating it for Christ's birthday and I would hope that everybody that question would pop up in their mind that way it stays fresh in our mind and heart and souls that way we will continue to celebrate Christ's birthday for what it is and what it stands for truly stands for he is our savior he is the one true Lamb of God he is our salvation without Christ Jesus none of us not one person would ever have an eternity to look forward to just like we did as far as looking towards Christmas when we were children you know we got all excited and the one thing that nobody gets excited anymore about today is Christ and celebrating him and what he stood for him what he gave us and the pain and suffering that he eventually went through to give us that salvation!!!! anyway I was listening to your mom and dad answer your questions and talk and the expressions that were on their faces and expressions I'm sure was on their hearts and their souls cuz it come out in their smiles and laughter in their eyes and you know they're seriousness and and yet the softer side of Christmas and their love for each other and the love for you girls in what family is all about and it made me literally weep, because I miss mine so terribly and the sad part about it is we all say when we lose our loved ones and they're all just about gone like money is we say well Christmas just won't never be the same but maybe it won't be the same as far as family but the true meaning if we concentrate on that instead of the loss we will realize that Christmas will always mean the same thing it will always mean that love that Christ Jesus had for us and the pain and the suffering that he was willing to go through and did go through to save us all,, I mean what better Christmas memory can you have them that and I know as long as I live even when I make it to heavenI know I will never be able to repay God or the perfect Lamb of God his son Christ Jesus for what Jesus went through for me cousin all honesty and actuality he could have said no father I'm not going to let them crucify me I'm not going to claim you as my father because of him not wanting to go through the pain for all of us sinners that when it was all said and done what did they do they spat on him they mistreated him they tortured him so imagine that pure love that he had for us what better Christmas gift can you get the that!! But the reason that this touch my heart so deeply and my soul to its core was because of the expressions on your Mom and Daddy's face and the laughter and joy and the love in their eyes for each other and for you girls and because of Christ Jesus you are all there to feel those feelings and to express those feelings and I just miss seeing that on my folks face I truly do!! and I truly want to say thank you because somehow someway God used you and your video and your folks to touch my soul where my parents were concerned the one Christmas wish that I wish I could still have other than having my sister back in my life but he used you and your family to touch my life and to touch my Christmas and give me just a little taste of what it was like almost like a living movie I felt like I was in to be able to feel my mother and father because they loved each other the way your folks love each other and I just pray to God one day that I am blessed with that type of marriage and that kind of love and that dedication and those soul felt feelings that they expressed it they could help but express it came out in their eyes and in their smile and just their you know their expressions I don't know how else to put it in that but I do truly pray one day that God will bless me with that kind of marriage that kind of love and that kind of family because honestly even as a child there were a lot of bad times too and I've always just wanted that loving relationship that relationship that God wants me to have and I've never had it because I've never been able to find a godly Man like your father that when they say they're godly they truly mean it and I pray that one day God will place that type of man in my life I don't care if I'm 80 or 90 years old if I can have that kind of love just once in my life for one day or 1 hour all of this would be well worth it!!! Anyway I just wanted to say thank you sweetheart for doing this video because you actually took me back home so to speak to the Christmas passed, and the true love and comfort and companionship and family and Chrysler that I have missed for all these years!! Thank you and please tell your father and mother I said thank you because what they shared and what they gave me this year for on crisis birthday with something that's irreplaceable, and I wish that you would tell him I said thank you personally!!! And please tell your mom the doll thing she was talking about the doll that you pushed on its head and it spun around like a ballerina that doll had a crown on his head in the center of the crown was a button and you pushed on it and it would spin around and then one leg would come up like a ballerinas would and I remember those because that's all I wanted one year and it truly took me back to a really good Christmas past and tell her thank you so much and tell your dad I said thank you about the shotgun story of his best Christmas as a kid as far as Christmas gift I remember that as well because my daddy gave me the same thing I was his only blood child and I was a girl but I was daddy's girl and I always will be daddy's girl and he helped me to experience I loved and feel that love of my daddy and I will always be a daddy's girl so please tell him thank you as well!! And I want to say thank you to you sweetheart because without you doing this video I would have never felt the feelings and that love from Christmas past,,, SAY THANK YOU AND MAY GOD BLESS YOU AND MAY HIS GRACE HIS MERCY HIS LOVE ALWAYS AROUND YOU AND I PRAY WHEN YOU GET MY THAT YOU'LL REMEMBER THIS CHRISTMAS AND THIS VIDEO AND MAYBE YOU CAN SHARE IT WITH YOUR CHILDREN AND THEY'LL UNDERSTAND WHAT CHRISTMAS TRULY LOOKS LIKE IT FEELS LIKE ALL THEY HAVE TO DO IS WATCH THIS VIDEO SAY THANK YOU SWEETHEART FOR EVERYTHING! AND I'M PRAYING GOD PUTS A SPECIAL BLESSING IN YOUR HEART AND ON YOUR LIFE THE WAY YOU JUST BLESSED ME, AMEN & AMEN Signed a TRULY GREATFUL DAUGHTER OF GOD'S & GREATFUL TO YOU AS WE,,,,, PRAYERS HUGS & LOVE THROUGH CHRIST JESUS,,, Jesse ( aka J-girl/Jesus's girl ) Signed, COUNTRY FARM BOYS BEST FRIEND,,,,, J-GIRL❤
Thank you so much for your Comment! That was such a wonderful and sweet thing of you to say. I am so glad that the video we shared touched you like that. And I know that I’ve never met you personally, but you sound like a wonderful person of the faith, and like you have a really good relationship with the Lord. That’s really great. It’s very special. You’re exactly right. It is about remembering what Christ went through for us on the cross and because of that it would be like having Christmas every day for the joy that we have in the gift of salvation. God has been so very good to us and it’s such a gift and an opportunity that we get to share that on our RUclips. Thank you for sharing your comment with us and making us think of Christmas in a different way. And I will be praying that God puts that special someone in your life.! ❤️🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
That was a fun interview, Katie! I'd love to see you interview them again sometime. And maybe your mom can interview you and Corie one day. When i was a kid growing up in TN, we had one January where we missed most of the month because we kept getting snowed out of school. Four weeks in a row we only went for one day, and then it would snow. There's a mountain in the county, so even once the roads were OK down where I lived, they'd still be icy on the mountain, so they'd cancel school. It was crazy, but fun for a kid. They had to get the state to let us not go for a full 180 days. Otherwise we'd have been in school till late June. Always love your videos, Katie.
Lovely interview! Glad you had a big time at Christmas! 🎉❤ it was just me and my son. We went out! I’m going to do some baking. Made pumpkin rolls before Christmas. Thanks for sharing!
It's such a wonderful video thank you for sharing. Both of your parents did very well with their interview skills. I hope you had a merry Christmas. Enjoy these times.
I loved those big bubble lights, and I love all the older songs as well as oh, come, oh come, Emmanuel, and mary did you know. I also have to watch the little drummer boy, it touches me every year as it did the first year I watched. I cried then as a little girl and as a great grandma I still cry( every single time)❤ .My The Fathers Grace and Loving mercy shine upon us all in this coming year and years to come🕊🙏❤peace, blessings and love to all may he bring.
Katie, you’re funny to refer to your parents young lives as “The days of antiquity”. I did the same with my mother when she reminisced about her childhood. I’d say “ You mean back in the covered wagon days?” The crazy thing is my daughter is adopted, none of my DNA, but when I was sharing a story about my childhood, she actually said the same phrase “Back in the covered wagon days”. So funny! Because she never heard me speak those words to mom.
You girls are so blessed to have parents who like and love each other. Pick wisely!!!
Wow. Your parents look great and your mom is glowing and beautiful today- what ever she is doing- keep it up!!
Your parents are the sweetest and so cute! When your mom smiles her eyes sparkle. Loved this video! Thank you!

I’m in my 50’s and in SE NC and remember only one white Christmas and that was in 1989. It was a deep snow too, so pretty.

AND I'M PRAYING GOD PUTS A SPECIAL BLESSING IN YOUR HEART AND ON YOUR LIFE THE WAY YOU JUST BLESSED ME, AMEN & AMEN
Signed a TRULY GREATFUL DAUGHTER OF GOD'S & GREATFUL TO YOU AS WE,,,,, PRAYERS HUGS & LOVE THROUGH CHRIST JESUS,,, Jesse ( aka J-girl/Jesus's girl )

I had both of those dolls. Like you, we didn't have much but I cherished what we had, especially the love of family.
That was a fun interview. Thankyou Topper, Matt and Katie 🙏❤️❤️💙
Love this!! Mom n dad are the sweetest and I’ll pray for your mom’s big snow out in front of her kitchen window!! Well done. God Bless🎄💕
I think the big Christmas snow was 1978. We got out of school for Christmas and didn’t go back until February.

Aww, I loved this. ❤ My parents told us the same about Santa. They didn't want him to get the credit for all their hard work. 😅
Awesome video ❤Happy New Year to everyone 🎉my favorite family on RUclips ❤ ❤❤
Happy new year!! 🎈
