Isaac Payton Sweat (King Of The Cotton Eyed Joe) was a good friend of mine, we worked at The Winchester Club (Bellaire Texas - Houston) together in the early 80's. His version really is the best version! Wow RIP Ikey!!

So many different ways to do a dance.
When I pulled boots on and when I went to the bar the Cotton Eye'd Joe dance we did was not a line dance per se.
Usually be 3 or 4 in a line with arms around the backs/shoulders, and the dance was a progressive around the floor. Foot work was different kick out with a foot and then cross the other leg and kick out then back repeat with the other foot. Then if I remember correctly a stomp or two somewhere and then some forward movements.

We always did a rotating line. We kick side front touch toe, side back touch toe, sidewalk right, spin while moving left with arm in the air as a lasso, clap, then repeat.

I use to do this in high school but I never gotten my steps down correctly bc my Leg would give out on me and I'll lump on my leg the whole time

Dirt Road Dancing has two videos they usually post. An intro into the dance steps and then the dance steps with the music. This is the latter. Maybe you should look for the intro.
That's because this is the dance to music and not the tutorial, if you had read it properly you would've known that.
