We need innovation, but seems Ross keeps re-designing the same reels. I have several and like them, but only affordable if you buy used. As far as weight, remember most reels have gotten so light, many aren’t heavy enough to balance out the swing weight. This one might, since 8.0 ounces of reel is an average optimum for many of the low to moderately priced 9 ft 5 weights (that’s reel+backing+line total).
Love Ross Reels but they have gotten pricey., just like everything else. Thanks for the review.
Long time Ross owner. Don't get the orange knob.

I brought one for my 6wt for fishing poppers for bass . I have to say I love my so far.
Way to heavy and not fully caged hard pass on that reel
Interesting. Many people don’t want a full cage reel…
@@richarde1355 euro nymphing or Skagit you would want a full caged reel and a heavier reel would benefit the longer rods
@@grimtidings7325so Ross is to put out a reel that appeals or applies to perhaps 1% of the market? 😂
Stop crying...go Ross. Great looking fancy line holder...if u want more pay more. If want to pay less there are plenty of other brands nowadays.
I like heavy reels for my casting motion so I love it.
Ross is over priced and over rated. I bought one and would never do it again. Lamson liquid is the trout reel gold standard.
Way too heavy for a trout reel…pass on this one
